Can we find a way to help my little girl stay motivated?

Haha! I have just seen it too many times and kept my mouth shut. Plus everybody here is in bed and I'm bored. Sorry about the Bambi quote, my kids prefer Toy Story
If you are bored why don't you start your own topic in chit chat?
think of something interesting/funny or what have you...0 -
I know, I know! It's just such an easy target with the southern jokes. But the fact still remains that people on here are rude. This isn't the first time I've seen it.
There are plenty of examples of rude around here, but in this case you made a big deal out of nothing.
But you are pretty, so I forgive you. But then you misquoted Bambi, so I am on the fence again. :ohwell:
but she changed it to Thumper, so "would bang". and thump.0 -
What does that even mean? With an apostrophe?
Oh God.0 -

Just reading this now. I am the daughter. Thanks to those who have added me and said such kind words. I was feeling alone and to be honest I didnt want to bother people with my problems and I want to thank my mom for being so supportive with this (means the world to me) and this actually makes me feel more motivated to prove to some that people can get a lot of something like this. I know I am going to have my off days like today but i know i can have way more like last week which I ended up losing 7 pounds from working so hard. I need to find a way to balance my life with this and I havent quite figured it out yet but... I will.
And as for my bf and I we are great together its just he doesnt know how to support me fully. I think he wants to but he cant figured out the right way to do it.
Thank all of you who reached out and offered your support. You can't possibly imagine how much it meant to both of us. We're just new and have our moments where it's hard to go on because we haven't lost much yet. People like you make it easier.0 -
For future reference, when I misspell something, point it out! I would have spelled it right the first time if I knew how! Luckily my ipad has spell or I would be in some serious trouble!0

Just eat the blossoms! That's the good stuff.
Ah, Ah, Ah!! What did your father tell you this morning? "Ahemmm, eating greens is a special treat, it makes long ears and great big feet.....but it sure is awful stuff to eat! I made that last part up myself!!"
You people are cracking me up. :drinker:0 -

i didnt say you were racist. you said that people in the south arent mean to each other.(or something to that effect) i was just pointing out the hypocrisy of that statement.0 -
I think it's beautiful that a mother is wanting to help their child no matter what their age. I try to help my son too, doesn't work but I try Either of you can add me for support if you like.0

Call it what you want. I live down here and know what it's like. People around here would do anything to help someone in need. But on this message board instead of being nice and supportive people have a tendency to get all 'bad' behind the keyboard and act like a know it all. I call em like I see em. If somebody don't like it.........? Sorry0 -

so in the south when someone asks for help and is given advice they dont want to hear or dont agree with the other person is mean?
got it.
that explains a lot0 -
My daughter, 'mommyofX2', has been doing great for the last 10 days, but is hitting a bad place in her journey. She normally works very hard at Zumba when she's not keeping her two little ones busy, fed and happy ... and we go to the gym together on Sunday afternoons. She's really done great -- lost at least 7 pounds so far -- but lack of support at home and having little time to take care of herself are taking their toll. She's losing her motivation.
It would be really great if some MFP members could come to the rescue to get her through this stumbling block. I do what I can but it's just not enough.
I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure this woman realizes that ultimately motivation has to come from within. That being said, I find it hard to believe that none of you have been inspired by other MFP members that share similar journeys and have been successful.
At different times in life, we ALL struggle in various aspects of life. Though it is ultimately up to ourselves to push through those struggles, its always better with love and support. She didn't ask anyone to solve all her daughter's problems. She asked for help and encouragement. Those are things WE ALL could use.
My suggestion would be to stop being so self-righteous and contribute something MEANINGFUL to the thread or don't contribute at all. :flowerforyou:0 -

Just give up. lol You're just digging yourself into a deeper hole. Your point is completely invalid because you're trying to generalize a WHOLE REGION, when that is simply impossible to do. lol I live in the South as well...There are mean people everywhere.0 -

If that is your perception that is completely fine and nobody can take that away from you. You're open to your own opinion- We all are. But when you go around saying "I live in the South and people aren't hateful like that down here"....Well, um...Yes they are! lol There are hateful people everywhere. Not to mention the fact that the south is pretty much known for hatred and intolerance0 -

I suspect she's just having too much fun now. Cherio stepped up early in this and commented that my effort to assist my daughter (one of my best friends btw) was worthy and that some people had come down on me pretty hard. The attack then moved from me and my daughter to Cherio ... so I suspect she decided that rising to the thrown-down gauntlet might keep her mind off food. I know that watching the side-show that developed did that for me.
Now everyone ... let's cheer up. I got what I asked for ... some people offered their support to my girl. Thank you all who did. The rest of you ... please move on.0 -

Attack? I think you are thinking too much in this...or is this your first Internet forum? This is really tame to be honest.
Thanks everyone for the laugh this morning!!! Hi5!0 -

Haha! Racism? What does that have to do with what we are discussing here? I can guarantee that I'm not racist as I am raising a biracial child, but whatever. As Bambi said, if you don't have something nice to say don't say nothing at all. The woman who started this thread has the right to ask for help if she chooses, not hear cut the apron string and things of that nature.
Did...did you....just quote Bambi?
it was actually Thumper's dad who said it and Thumper was asked by his mom to repeat it. lol!!! I'm a teacher and have 2 kids. lol!!!0 -
Wow unbelievable. Some people are just plain rude and I agree with Cheerio. Why is it that everyone jumps on the bandwagon and start bullying. Half of this thread has no relevance to the op.
Op I hope that your daughter gets the help you have asked for. I thought it was a lovely request. Bollocks to the rest of them0 -
I have never seen such rude people in my entire life. Maybe coming from the south I'm not accustomed to people being so hateful over someone wanting help. Motivation from others can help. I would be happy to help anyone that I can in any way. I guess it just depends on how your raised though.
The internet tends to turn even otherwise-nice people into jerks. Because there is a screen they are talking to, not a real person, they make no real effort to insert any tact into their "opinions" and then justify it by saying "well, it's true, so I should be able to say it!".
Hello?! Telling someone that they're fat or ugly or stupid MAY IN FACT BE TRUE, but that does not make it remotely okay to say. Telling someone to "man up" and be their own motivation does not help them when they aren't finding inspiration within themselves. I think it was pretty clear what the OP was looking for (that people contact her daughter and give her a "you can do it, we're rooting for you!" esteem boost), but people chose to dispense their "truisms", no matter how unhelpful.
This is unfortunately just the way it is when you post on a public forum. Plenty of nice people, plenty who think they can say whatever the hell gets into their head and who cares if it's rude, intrusive, mean, hurtful, discouraging, or what have you. Some of these people even act this way in life, too.0 -

Alas, sometimes holding up a mirror to someone is futile because they insist that it is a window.0 -

I'm slightly nicer online than I am in person...
...or more accurately, I'm slightly less of a jerk.
