I'm probably the minority, but I loved the Jurassic Park sequels. It is my favorite trilogy.

    Disney 'princess' ones mainly.

    The Hangover
    Major League
Saw - they should have stopped at 2
Scary Movie - They should have stopped at 2
A Nightmare on Elm Street - should have stopped at 3
    Paranormal Activity

    ^^^^^^
I endorse this! I have to add those PIRANHA movies, they should have just stopped at the first. That 3DD one tortured me. I seriously wanted my money back.

    Lake Placid

    Jaws

    Ananconda

    Home Alone (esp part 3)

Yes on those Anaconda movies. I was outraged at the level of horribleness. I mean really!? My picks would be:

Final Destination, I just didn't get the point in having so many of them.
    Legally Blonde - WHY?
American Pie, especially the last one.
    Save The Last Dance 2
Step Up Movies - all of them were horrible.
Street Dance - I don't ****ing understand why they even made the 1st one, let alone 3 of them.

A lot has already been said, but I have a few to add:

that last Pirates of the Carribean movie that was split in two - omigod how boring was that?!?!?

Batman reboot with Christian Bale. the guy can't enunciate and his emotive capacity might be surpassed by Kristen Stewart. I have no idea what he's saying, there's no emotial tension to the plot and the only redeeming quality for the movies is the villains. At least the previous Batman movies had a certain... tongue in cheek quality (Arnie as iceman, anyone?)

Charlie's Angels reboot - the first was fun enough; but the second was just horrible

Speed - the first one was great, the follow-up? not so much

Ice Age 2 - it's a personal pet peeve of mine but if you want to make a bible-movie, make a bible-movie! Don't take a great movie and put religion in it. Ice Age 3 was actually pretty good again.

eta: I didn't like the first Hangover (not my kind of humour) nor the first Matrix (the camerawork made me seasick and I don't get seasick on sea) so no amount of sequels could have killed them more than the dead they already were.

LOTR was terrible...I wish they'd have left that one after the first.

And then they had to make that Hobbit tripe. It's not even a complete story and only loosely fits in with the original. What garbage.

blasphemy! I'm a huge fan of the books and they followed the books as they should have. Although I do wish they'd not split the Hobbit up - seriously, it's one book and it was written for kids.

if you were to make a thread "movies where books were better" then The Princess Bride and the LotR/Hobbit movies would probably be the only ones *not* mentioned.

Def the lost boys. The 2nd movie was awful and I loved the original.

Every animated Disney movie but The Lion King. I enjoyed TLK2 more than the original as a kid. I've never seen 1 1/2.
ETA: I consider Toy Story a Pixar property, even though they were a joint venture.

    Pirates of the Caribbean.

    Spider-Man.

Star Wars. Though the prequels sucked, the animated universe is surprisingly mostly good.

Can I count Love Never Dies as killing Phantom of the Opera on stage?

    The Hangover
    Die Hard
    Men in Black

No way, Friday after Next was hilarious.

Right! All of the Fridays were hilarious! Can't wait for Last Friday to come out!

I'm with you on this. I was not impressed with the Spider-Man sequels. Nor was I impressed with the Boondocks Saints sequel.

The 80s/90s Batman films. They should have stopped when Burton & Keaton left, or rebooted it right then and there.

All the Nightmare on Elm Street movies after 3. They kept just getting campier and campier.

All the Halloween movies after 2. The worst one IMO (aside from 3, being obvious) was the one where they tried to explain Myers' origin and linked it to a secret society and Samhain.

Friday the 13th I'm kinda iffy on, because they kept it pretty good up through 6, and the reboot was actually pretty good (unlike Nightmare on Elm Street).

    Blues Brothers.

Truth that the sequel wasn't great, but it didn't kill the greatness of the original like (for example) the sequels to the Matrix did. The second BDS is like the second Green Street Hooligans, I just kind of pretend they don't exist.

But then we would all be wondering if they ever destroyed the damn ring!

The Dirty Harry series should've stopped after Sudden Impact. Jim Carrey lip synching to Welcome To The Jungle and cavorting like a rock star in The Dead Pool really didn't do it for me and I like Jim Carrey and that song. Target has the 1st 4 together on DVD for $10.00, they did it right!

Fast and Furious... They could have stopped at 2 honestly. They are all great movies but they are just getting very annoying now

Actually, there is something to be learned from the movies.
"Life is like watching Fast and Furious 6. It's not easy, most of the time it's just dumb and pointless, everything is fake, there is a lot of noise, but if you close your eyes and picture yourself in an open field or a quiet forest, you can maybe make it to the end without killing yourself."
