Chicken breasts, pork filet, Turkey breast, Fish, prawns, scampis, (lean meatsof any sort),eggs, low cal Roh s*****en (as a sub for bacon great flavour 3% fat), veg of any type (Onions, cougettes, mushrooms, peppers ,broccolli, cauliflour,green beans, peas), sweet potatoes beans, couscous, lentils, barley, rice, pasta 0% fat yogurts, berries, fruit of any sort. and 1.5% fat milk.
Thats my shopping list then I look at what the fridge throws at me and spice it up with herbs and spices depending on how I feel.0 -
I live alone and mostly buy organic non-GMO foods now.
I make 70% of my food from scratch. I buy 30% of the rest.

A must to have, always checked that there is enough: bell peppers, tomato, asparagus, spinach, borlotti beans, string green beans, avocados, apples, bananas, berries, almond milk, tortilla wraps, lean turkey, chicken and/or beef meat, tuna, olive oil, balsamico vinegar, eggs, muesli, oatmeal, almond milk, yoghurt, sour cream, cheese, cottage cheese, mustard, nuts, dry apricots, wholewheat pasta, brown rice, dark chocolate, magnum ice cream. And cat food. For my kitty. She eats half of the tuna too. And beef.0 -

I wanted some different food options so I googled Jillian Michaels food plan/menu and bought some items off of there and got few good meal options.
Other than that my must haves are:
Butter
fresh bell pepper, onions, green onions, mushrooms, etc...even though they are expensive...I have bought prepping bowls and I cut and chop them up and freeze them and use them when I am ready....cuts down on time too.
Fresh veggies...my new love is asparagus
boneless chicken breast, all fish esp salmon and tilapia, ground turkey breast, and lean sirloin.

I forgot to add 100% extra virgin olive oil non stick spray. The girl Danni off of biggest losers use this and I just start incorporating this into my diet. Of course I have to have the reg olive oil...but I use the spray more now and it help with eggs and other things and cut back on the fat. I use the butter spray also0

i love smoothies with frozen fruit and protein powder. i also make pancakes using 1/2 a banana mashed with one egg and baking powder...cook it like a normal pancake, top with almond butter, and you have a great breakfast.0

Well, here are some things that have surprised us by being tastier than we remembered or expected and now make regular appearances in our basket:
-eggplant (good roasted or breaded and baked)
-corn on the cob to be cut off (beat frozen corn niblets by a mile)
-English cucumber (milder than regular cukes, seems to last more days in the fridge so I can use parts of it at a time)
-ginger root (which, if run through the food processor with rice vinegar and put in a jar lasts forever in the fridge)
-country ham (which, when shaved, is almost identical to proscriutto; a little bit flavors a lot of pasts primavera)
-brussels sprouts (which can be good roasted but make a REALLY good slaw)
-red cabbage (which also makes good slaw)
-fresh beets (good raw or cooked, hot or cold)
-Sargento light string cheese (which is actually only cheese -- no xanthan gum or cellulose or other mystery ingredients)
-Daisy full fat cottage cheese (which is straight cottage cheese -- again no mystery ingredients)
-Wasa Sourdough crispbread (which we order online in bulk and save about a buck a package)
Oh, my, there are so many things! And we are always trying new. Also, I have lots of herbs, spices, and bottles of stuff like vinegars, Asian sauces, etc., to flavor things. Oh, and of course good, hard grating cheeses like romano, parmesan, ...
Oh, dear, I must stop. There are so many things. Food is fun and it needn't stop being just because we are learning to eat right! In fact, needing to eat right is a reason to have MORE fun with food!!0 -

I buy lots of food mags, ww, slimming world, good food and I aim to have min of 2-3 new dishes every week. Really works and some weeks I do a new one every day! I do have staples I buy such as fruit, veg, oats, eggs and almond milk but I think it's good to mix it up x0

I plan out my meals as best I can, so it varies, but here's what I frequently get:
-milk
-nonfat Greek yogurt - big tubs of Fage and little individual packs
-lots of berries
-chicken and/or beef broth (reduced sodium - for cooking)
-granola bars (I like the kind with extra fiber)
-lettuce
-tomatoes
-carrots
-cucumbers
-mushrooms
-stone fruit, when in season
-oranges
-onions and garlic
-boneless, skinless chicken breasts (usually we buy these in bulk at Costco)
-lean red meat - either 96% lean ground beef or lean sirloin, etc
-light mozzarella shredded cheese
-roasted unsalted almonds or another salty snack, like trail mix of Special K "chips"
-cans of diced and whole tomatoes (for making soups or sauces)
-1 or 2 frozen meals for quick lunches
And usually, when at Trader Joe's, I grab some prepared salads and Reduced Guilt macaroni and cheese. Mmmm!0 -
I've been pretty enamoured with a pepper mix recipe lately. It's super versatile so I make and use it throughout the week.
1 Red Pepper
1 Orange/Yellow Pepper
1 Cubanelle Pepper
1-2 Jalapenos
1 Medium Onion
Saute diced onion in some olive oil, and then add the rough chopped peppers to sauté for a couple mins. Turn the heat down low, throw an ice cube in the pan and put a lid on it and let them steam. Super easy and it makes enough to last for the week on different things.
I throw it in my scrambling eggs with some old cheddar, I put it on my burgers, on sandwiches and homemade pizzas and use it to jazz up chicken breasts on the average night.
I usually have lots of fruit in my cart (apples, blueberries, plums, watermelon) to snack on during the day and for breakfast. I buy lots of chickpeas to make hummus and put in salads, they make a nice crunchy snack roasted too. I also love zucchini a billion different ways. Carrots, radishes and potatoes for roasting - mmm!0 -
