Instead of a typical dessert, I eat a chopped-up kiwi or chunk of watermelon

Instead of a po'boy from a Cajun restaurant, I eat chopped lettuce with 3 oz of popcorn shrimp, homemade remoulade, and part of a tiny baguette on the side. Calorie difference is around 400 less and price difference at least $5 less
Instead of IHOP breakfast, I have a slice of homemade French toast with cinnamon, fresh blueberries, and Cary's sugar free syrup. I seriously prefer it, too.0 -

Instead of chips or pretzels, I eat an apple or some strawberries. You'd think since apples and strawberries aren't salty and crunchy that they'd be a poor substitute, but I've gotten quite used to it and I very rarely crave the chips anymore.0

Okay, here's my real answer:
Instead of "low fat", "light", and "fat free" foods, I opt for the full fat and regular (and, less processed!) versions.0 -
Instead of
pop - green tea with a lemon wedge and drop of honey
chips/crisps - apple slices with a little bit of crunchy peanut butter
(veggie) burgers - open faced sandwiches on whole grain bread.
fried eggs - poached/boiled eggs
custard - oatmeal mixed with mashed banana and grapes
ice cream - low fat frozen yoghurt and berries0 -
Instead of soda, I drink sparkling water. Instead of starchy high cal, high sodium boxed side dishes, I eat extra veggies. Instead of ice cream, cakes and cookies, I eat Skinny Cow. Oh and instead of lunch meats I grill extra chicken breasts and make chicken salads.0

Instead of having substitutes for what I actually wanted, I have the real thing. Unless it's finals week or along those lines. Ironically, the kind of caffeine I go through then requires me to eat like a nineties dieter for the sake of comfort - so much for all-nighters and delivery food.
Tuna hotdish... tuna salad on grilled eggplant or greens off the sale sheet.

Instead of a 200ml glass of orange juice in the morning I pour 100mls and top up the glass with very cold water.
