I have one and I don't even bother wearing a ring anymore. It's annoying. It gets caught on everything and hurts if you sit wrong. Personally, I think it's a little out of fashion, but I've still seen girls rock them. The new sexy trend that's coming back right now (that's I'm super excited about) is wrap jewelry. Like snake ankle bracelets and upper arm bands. I love those and they don't get infected. Oh! That's another thing. I got mine when I was 16 and I was into a lot of sports then. I took it out before every workout, but it did get infected pretty easily even though I was good about keeping it clean. Just be prepared for some soreness if you like working out.
Edit: I forgot! Find a ring that's gold. It helped with my sensitivity and you want to be safe than sorry!0 -
If you want one get one! I had mine done just before my 40th birthday, mainly because my children clearly disapproved. This year, in my run up to my 50th birthday, I've had a phoenix tattoo on my foot. I love them both - express yourself :flowerforyou:0

I got my when I was about 15 (I'm 34 now), but back then I had a cute body. I second that it does get infected easily and is annoying at times when you sit etc. I think I took mine out around 20. I'm not sure how old you are, but I do think that after a certain age they start looking a bit ridiculous, but that's just my opinion. As far as trashy? That really just depends on the person. It's like a nose piercing, or a tattoo, it can look great on the right person, but a hot mess on someone else.0

yeahhhhhhhhhhh and loving it. 34 now and got it when I was 17 and I can nearly open my own shop with belly button piercings and accessories lol0

LOVE LOVE THEM
my 15 year old just got one.
GORGEOUS,
I almost did it with her,
I chickened out.
but now I wish I did.0 -
I have one and planning on getting the cross bar when I reach my next goal. I love mine had it done 6 years ago and never had an issue with it.
I like it so I do not care what people think about me having one aha I don't go flaunting it the only time its on show to people is in the pool and behide closed doors with my boyfriend.
If you want one go for it though hun.0 -

I'm 41 and if I hit my goal (and truly feel good about it) by Dec. I'm planning on getting mine done. As for trashy, no one will see it but me unless I go swimming which is hardly ever, so who cares. My 19 year old tried to talk me into getting it done last night, but NO. Not ready for that.0

I've had my belly button pierced for years. I love it.0

Yeah I think you mean belly button ring. When I hear stomach (sorry, I was a county medic for a while) I think of literal stomach.
Up to you, my personal opinion is they are trashy but that's just me. If you don't like the piercing after you've had it done, just take it out0 -
I've thought about getting one once I hit my goal just because it was something I always wanted prior to having three kids, but ehhhh.....I just don't know that I'll ever do it. IDK.....I just feel like I'm past that prime age for it even though it would never bother me on another woman.0

I think belly rings are super sexy. And not trashy at all.0

I have one and it's lovely, add's to my body in my opinion. It doesn't matter if people think it's trashy because they just don't want it or don't appreciate it. It's about whether you like it or not that should help you make your decision. One of my pictures has a body shot if you want to see what it looks like on me and believe me I was not full of sexy abs when I took the photo but it doesn't look bad0

I'm sorry. What in the WORLD is a stomach piercing?!? Do you mean navel?!? please tell me you meant navel, because the other sounds painful.0

I am 29 and have had mine since I was 20. It was infected once in the beginning and when I took it out it ended up closing. Went and had it repierced and have not had problems since. I left it in for both pregnancies. I would just put a bandaid over it when I worked as I was a nurse at a hospital and it would always get snagged when helping patients. I've debated about taking it out, but really what's the point. I've rather have the ring then the scars from it. It does feel dated, but that is a part of who I am. No different then the toe ring that has not left my right foot since I was 14, my tattoos, and my nose piercing that I got this year. I always wanted my nose pierced and figure I should get it done before I am 30.
Some might think it is out of place or trashy, but do you really care what they think?? Do what is best for you and what describes you. I get critized now for the back piece tattoo that I have been working on and planning. Why would I want to cover my back with tattoo. Because it tells my story and describes me. I am not doing anything in this life to impress anyone. I only covet my happiness, not theirs.0 -
all porn stars have navel rings, but not all with navel rings are porn stars.
unless you meant this

I have mine done, I love it! And it's just one more reason to shop for jewelry!0

Is that what I have to do to get a job in the industry??0 -
Are you talking about belly button piercings? I don't find them trashy. I had mine done when I was in shape. It got really irritated when I moved and developed allergies but if that wasn't an issue I'd do it again once I shed some more weight.0
-
I have mine pierced. Had to get it pierced twice though... first time it just didn't work out. I've had mine now for about 12 years. I don't think it's trashy. They make some really simple and pretty bars for the piercing. Of course they do have the outrageous and gaudy ones as well. It's only trashy if you dress it that way! Otherwise it can be very nice looking. My husband really loves it too! It's not the most fun experience to go thru and it is rather uncomfortable for a week or two (sometimes more depending on the person) but definitely worth it for all the years you'll have it.0

If you do get a navel piercing done, don't wear a ring. They get caught on things, they get stuck and moved around by your clothing, and that causes pain or at least discomfort. Wear a barbell designed for a navel piercing, your piercing shop will happily sell you a few. I've had my piercing, and my half-dozen barbells, for over a decade and never had any pain past the first day or so before it started to heal. Just make absolutely sure you follow the piercer's home care instructions and keep it clean, and infection is a non-issue.
IMPORTANT: Don't follow anyone else's advice on how to care for your piercing. He or she does body piercings for a living and is an expert on the subject. Your mother, your best friend, your significant other, your favorite internet buddy, your co-worker, whoever else, is NOT. Listen politely, but don't follow their suggestions on how to clean a fresh piercing or how to maintain it. Your health is not worth the risk.
Also, stop worrying about what others will think of it, unless of course you plan to pull up your shirt and expose your belly to everyone you meet every day.0 -
I have my belly pierced and don't think it's trashy at all. I know people who do, I don't care. I'm entitled to my opinion and so are they. The majority of people I've met either like it or are not fussed either way.
I don't think I love it as much as when I first had it done as a teenager, it's just kind of there. Not "ooh it's so pretty!", nor "urgh I don't like this!" It just is, and I like it, a bit like ear lobe piercing. Although I think the only reason I'm a bit indifferent to this is because it's only really on show (apart from to myself and my bf) when I'm in a bikini, and that isn't often. If I lived by a beach, or went swimming all the time, I think I'd love it more.0 -
Yes: barbell for sure!!!!!!!!!!!0

Do it. It looks hot.0
