Who's going to "cheat" on Labor Day

Since doing 5:2 instead of daily calorie counting, I have no desire to eat any differently than I normally would... Actually Labor Day isn't really a day I celebrate so it wont make a difference. But even if it were Thanksgiving, I just have no desire to eat more than I need. (I think I've finally found a plan that works for me!)0

I don't necessarily plan on cheating during Labor Day. However, I won't necessarily eat at a deficit vs. eating at maintenance. I also plan on working out that day with something tough like Jillian Michaels or cycling so I can burn some mega calories. You only live once so I plan on enjoying some chips, hot dogs, and cookies....but just at the maintenance amount of calories. However, I eat whatever I want anyway as long as it fits into my calories...so I guess no real change.0

I can understand some people having triggers but I think over time we all need to be able to condition ourselves mentally in the art of self control and avoid a lifestyle where the only way we find success is by depriving ourselves because it might send us into a downward spiral. We can't live feeling guilty over one day because in the big picture it's really a small factor.
This is that kind of "everyone" thinking that I speak of when I mention that it is good to get out of one's own head. For me self control is having my set parameters and living within them fully by choice and in the healthiest way possible every day. For others self control is being able to not avoid certain things and not go out of control.
Neither way is wrong. There are just way too many shades of gray to have a belief that is conveyed as something that should include all. Even something like self-control can be defined very differently by many different people.
Bottom line...I hope everyone has a fabulous Labor Day!!! :-)
With all due respect: If a day of going over your calorie goal seriously has the possibility of sending you into a neverending binge that totally throws you off the wagon, then you need additional help being on this site cannot give. I hope you don't take offense to this because I am being totally serious. If one day of eating outside of your nutritional guidelines can throw you into some sort of downward spiral akin to what happens when a recovering alcoholic drinks again, then it's possible you may have deeper issues to look into regarding your relationship with food.
Truth be told it would not put me into a tail spin at all. I was not the one that said that but I can bet you it is a problem for many. I am blessed to not be one of them, but I can certainly put myself in someone else's shoes which is the point I am trying to make here. I was referring to the fact that is is not wise to lump everyone in to one category and have such black and white absolutes about everyone. I can tell it is confusing so it is all good. Just another day to me. Definitely won't be taking any cheat days. I don't really count calories (just carbs and sugar because I'm diabetic) anyways.0

Avoid the beer and potatoe salad eat that grilled chicken, beef and corn on the cob avoid the brats and bbq sauce and you'll be fine. Art least that's my plan opps no sodas either using those calories for a margarita. Prior to all this fun do at least a hour of intense cardio

This was a key I needed to learn whe nI lost most of my weigth and sadly I have forgotten this when I joined this site. One ""bad" day should not drive things over the edge and if it does, there's a bigger problem at work. Trigger or not, this is a long term journey and part it of includes challenges. Learning how to handle them is a skill that needs to be learned, too.0 -
Well, I'm not doing anything special, so it'll probably be a good day, eating-wise. Plus, since it's a day off, I'll probably get lots of exercise in since I have the time.0
