We were so pleasantly surprised with the Mom we saw at the NH today. She has been wheeling herself around her unit, went to the dining room for lunch, we were able to here and understand her. There were some things she said we couldn't get but over all it was really good. I tried to tell DH how I feel about her and not ever being able to express his love for all his life and I doubt it was expressed to him, he just doesn't get it. I was listening to our christian radio station today and Focus on the Family was on and they were talking about when the man isn't present in a home. Or he might be present in person but not in mind. The guest said it so right and it fit my husband perfectly. He is able to show affection, just can't say it. My girls realize it, my older one has learned much from it and able to help me and her sister but her sister hasn't completely moved on, she just accepts that's the way Dad is. She knows he loves her and shows her in ways like making sure her oil in her car is changed, tires look good etc. And that's the way he shows love. Oh well, another journey down memory lane.

Did anybody see the thread about the 321cake? It is an angel food cake mix combined with any other cake mix in a big ziplock bag. You mix three tablespoons of the dry mix with two tablespoons of water and microwave for one minute. Well, it sounded like a good way to get a little taste of cake and not wreck my diet, so I tried it. But I put a few frozen cherries and a tablespoon of brown sugar in the cup and microwaved it for 30 seconds before I put the batter in. It made a pretty good little cherry cobbler. It figured out to be about 218 calories.

Barbara, I didn't download a walking program to my phone, but I did download a metronome app. I can adjust the beat for the terrain, how I feel, etc. It is relentless, but keeps me at pace. I'm otherwise entertained looking at things and people, so don't feel a need for music, etc.

Lifted almost 32,000 pounds tonight and have almost 12,00 steps today. When I went to Publix to pick up lunch I treated it as mall-walking, going up and down every aisle and around the edge, which added around 2,000 steps. (And it was air-conditioned! )

:flowerforyou: We had thunder, lightning, and rain today…..it didn’t deter the dogs, but my planned walk with a friend turned out to be conversation at the dining room table over glasses of water…the power went off briefly in the middle of my weekly phone call to my cousin.

:flowerforyou: Yanniejannie, you’re so generous to take your friend to her surgery…..how far do you have to go? Do you wait for her or come back later?

:flowerforyou: Cikan_vuz….your post and your profile are inspiring….I hope you will continue to post here so we can cheer you on and you can inspire to never give up

:flowerforyou: Heather, since I lost weight, we’ve had some financial issues that have kept me from having money to buy the cute clothes I thought I wanted but just putting on jeans and a shirt in the size I wear now makes me feel beautiful.

:flowerforyou: Sylvia, you just gave me another good reason to love working out at home instead of the gym, nobody interrupts me to talk here and if the phone rings, I can ignore it…..my strength training routine has parts that use many muscles at once so I can keep the routine under an hour. I walk a lot but it’s walking dogs and I listen to inspirational speakers, favorite music, and I use the time for meditation.

:flowerforyou: Sandy, my line dance classes are in the morning….I’m retired as are a great many people in my community…….i just finished eating oatmeal with raisins…..easy to fix and not too heavy close to bedtime….it would also be good with walnuts or berries or bananas….my hubby has yogurt with frozen berries as his easy “go to” meal

Sometimes I think that looking for the right kind of support from one’s husband is like going to the hardware store looking to buy underwear……

:flowerforyou: Barb, welcome…….we all started just like you…..take it one day at a time……plan your meals for tomorrow, log them and then stick with the plan….then write and tell us how you did.

:flowerforyou: Gail, walking around a big store is a great way to add extra steps when the weather isn’t great for walking outdoors.

    September Resolutions
*finish preparing the flower bed in the back yard
*strength training two days a week (three would be better)
    *be agreeable---say “OK”
    * don’t sit at the computer for more than 30 minutes at a time
    * keep my calcium intake at the level suggested by the doctor

@Barbie: "Sometimes I think that looking for the right kind of support from one’s husband is like going to the hardware store looking to buy underwear……"

How profound. However, no matter my complaining, I do much better when DH is around. Darn, darn, darn. Gotto do without his meals/shopping until Tuesday!

Sherry - welcome! That's a very good goal, but don't be too disappointed if you don't make it. That would be a little over 2lbs per week. Sometimes no matter what we do, our bodies just won't cooperate at the moment and need time to "catch up". But stick with us and you'll get there!!!!

Well, I went to the Y today, tried to log in using their wifi to do a uTube video of body pump, but the wifi kept cutting out on me. Fortunately, I'd brought a Jari Love Slim & Lean video with me just in case. I'm really going to have to look for a DVD that uses the barbell only. Tomorrow I'm planning to do a spinning downloadable workout that I have.

Since the humidity is low, Vince feels that we should go work outside after we have some lunch. So there goes my going in the pool. Oh well....I'd rather get the work done anyway. Last night he said that we'd go out around 3 or 4, but today he said we'd go earlier. No big deal (I just love my pool)

I'm going to take some of the cake donuts to the Y tomorrow a.m. (that's less for me to eat)

After the Y I stopped at one food store and got just a few things. I'll probably stop there again Sat. after yoga. The rotisserie chicken wasn't done yet. Plus, there are a few more things that I need.

grandmalle - sure hope the poliatrist gives you some relief! You poor gal. That's great that you put your snacks into snack bags after portioning it out. I do that, too, then I keep one of the bags in my pocketbook. Like right now I have a bag of dry roasted edamame in there.

Heather - it's always so good when you can up your weights, good for you!. Hope you get good news from your painter

Sylvia - isn't it weird? I love bananas -- especially if they are very ripe. And here you like them slightly green! I hear ya about not wanting to be rude but wanting to get your heartrate up. Sometimes that happens in the deep water class. I can really get my heartrate up, but then there are people who don't necessarily want that and they just chat and chat so I need to slow down, which for me is a bummer.

terri - I must have done that modelmydiet site a while ago because my original weight was still there (was I REALLY that heavy???)

yanniejannie - my hairdresser is getting married on Friday the 13th!!!

Pat - have a safe trip to Tucson

Sandy - when I take a DVD to the Y, where I usually workout is in their aerobics room. I do have to be sure, tho, that there isn't a class in there while I'm working out. I take my laptop and play it on that. There is usually a plug in the room so I can plug it in. My suggestion about your dinner dilemma is exactly what you did, do all your cooking on the weekend, then just have it all ready to heat up and you'll be eating in 5 to 10 minutes. You can add some frozen veges to that. Oh no, just the thought of Christmas gifts brings tears to my eyes

Vince and I went outside around 1:30, I used the power mower and then swept the grass clippings from when Vince used the weedwacker, then we uncovered this drain that is there, then Vince put some landscape border around it to direct the flow of water to the drain (hopefully). Then we went into the pool for about 1/2 an hour. I think we're FINALLY being able to enjoy our pool a little. Tomorrow there is an area we want to work on, it's not real big but we have to dig out the dirt that eroded there, then put down the fabric and rocks. First we're going to put down big rocks which I have set aside. I suspect they're going to have to be carried down back individually. I should have gone into the pool before we started working. Oh well.

Tomorrow Vince is going to a luncheon with some of the guys from Newcomers, he usually gets home around 1-1:30. In the meantime, I expect to be in that pool

Barb - you've come to a great place for encouragement, etc. My advice? Log EVERYTHING, even those tastes. At first, this is a must. And never, never, never give up. Stop in here regularly, tell us about what's going on

Gail - how I love Publix. I wish they'd come to our area. They are going to be adding stores, but not very close to me. I love it when we go to FL and I get to go to the Publix there.

Good Evening, Ladies! I hope everyone had as much fun today as I did!

We went to a very upscale outdoor mall after we had an awesome lunch at P.F. Chang's. It has a branch of Tiffany's, for heaven's sake! Just watching the people was fun, they just oozed the aura of money. I felt like Little Orphan Annie going into the mansion for the first time! Anyway, I did not buy the bracelet, earrings, necklace nor the $600 purse in the Coach store! I did not buy the set of dishes I found in Williams and Sonoma! I did not buy the gold and white kitten I found in the pet store! And, I did not let them make make-up or facial cleansers calibrated for my personal skin-type and preferences in the "Lush" store! (I had never even heard of that one before!) I did, however, buy a canister of tea from Teavani, and that was a dog-gone difficult process because they all smelled heavenly! I also picked up some gluten free food stuffs from the fancy deli, but, other than those purchases, I really restrained myself. It was a wonderful day. The three friends I went with were just as happy with the day as I was. Lots of laughter, and we all agreed we need to get together and laugh more often! It is so nice, such a blessing, to have friends who like to laugh!

Shoing- I am retired from teaching in very small rural schools in Mn. Teaching is a wonderful profession! Congratulations on your dedication. I know how hard it is to teach when you are not feeling physically 'top-notch'. I taught for one month in a wheel chair (talk about a mess!) and then again for a stretch on crutches. It is a good thing that the kids were willing to help me so much, or it would have been impossible! Take care of those sore feet; I see absolutely nothing wrong in teaching in slippers if that helps you be comfortable enough to stay focused on all that you need to do.

Barb- Hello and Welcome! This is a wonderful place for support and suggestions. The women here are warm, caring, and very generous with their support. As for suggestions, take it one day, one meal at a time and log every bite honestly.

Michelle- I love reading about you and Vince working so well together on your yard. I have met so many people down here that lead lives almost completely seperately from their husbands, it seems so strange to me. Anyway, I am so glad that you are enjoying that beautiful pool. It sounds like the perfect place to spend a hot afternoon!

We had dessert in the upscale deli at the mall. They didn't have many gluten free desserts in their case today, but they did have a tulip-shaped chocolate cup w/ raspberry & white chocolate mousse inside. Let me tell you, I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I took that first bite! It's a good thing that mall and deli are well over an hour away, or I could be in serious trouble!

For tonight- I am off to bed. Sweet Dreams, my friends,

    Pat (Az)

I think I'm really lucky. I met my DH 24 years ago. He's not overly unusual, but if something is important he'll be there. I took it for granted that he would support my sleeve survey and didn't think to ask him until he was driving me to the hospital. oops. :ohwell: But it was as expected - he was happy for me. Three months now and he's been a champ. Good man.

Pat - So happy for your fun day today. Thank you for sharing.

:flowerforyou: you are now officially part of our community.....all it takes is the desire to join in...take it one meal at a time.......take baby steps........make a single resolution.......my first one was to plan my meals for the day and stick to the plan no matter what (that meant saying no to food that was offered to me)........you can worry about other stuff later.

 today I teach the line dance class.....i woke up two hours after I fell asleep thinking (not worrying) about the dances I'd be teaching and when I realized that I wouldn't be going back to sleep easily, I took my book and moved into the guest bed where I read until I fell asleep and got up at my usual time with the help of Bernie, the alarm clock cat....dogs have been walked individually, I'm finishing my breakfast, and soon we'll be off for our very long walk.

Good morning -- just a quick post before I leave for the office.

Grandmallie -- I am SO jealous of your weather right now! Just love the fall season, but here in ATL it will be a while yet before we get the cooler temperatures. This summer has been cooler/wetter over all, and I appreciated the cooler weather.

My across-the-street neighbor had a stray dog appear last weekend, but he doesn't want to keep it. They took her to the humane society - no chip. They've posted pics in the area, etc., but so far, no calls. It is a spayed, mixed breed medium-sized dog. Very sweet, let his grandbaby climb all over her, responds to commands, and is obviously an indoor family dog. I would be soooo tempted, and in the same thought I think that with one dog already, they can really tie you down. If DH sees her I bet we'll have her!

    Have to dash -

    Happy Friday –

So happy it’s Friday. Have a lot planned. We are renovating our master bathroom so need to get countertops ordered and schedule them to come in and cut a template. Also, there is a large craft festival that I would like to visit on Saturday. The weekend is looking very good weather wise, so am also hoping to get the bike out and go for a long trek.

 Katla – I agree, I think seeing pictures of ourselves are a good benchmark on our progress.
 Paula – thanks for sharing the ad, it was a good chuckle.
 Joyce – hope your toe is alright and no infection.
 Exermom – good idea to rinse the salad, unfortunately this one was soggy and I don’t think it would work. Did thank hubby for the salad and asked if he ordered again to please order it w/dressing on the side.
 DeeDee – I can sympathize with you, I tend to crave salt more than sweet.
Cikan_vuz – I have a rower but don’t use it much, but you have me thinking I should add that to my routine a couple days out of the week.
 Phoo – loved hearing about your visit to the upscale mall.
 Grandmallie – glad your heel is feeling better.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Gail: I’m a dedicated one dog person, but I wonder how much more tied down you’d be with two. I don’t think I’d be more tied down with another, but I’d really be more irritable. :grumble: Two dogs playing together inside my house irritates me no end. Makes no sense, but it is true.

Pat (Phoo): I’m glad you’re feeling better today, even if it is mostly force of will. I’ve gotten through some low days by acting the way I want to feel. It is a useful strategy that doesn’t always work, but can be very helpful. Cardio helps me with the blues, too.:flowerforyou:

Grandmalle: Predinsone is nasty. I’d rather have surgery and that is what I did when I had bone spurs. I hope the orthotics work. DH used them for a long time.:flowerforyou:

Heather: I also notice that I feel much younger and more energized than I did before I started this weight loss journey. I don’t have the endurance I’d like to have yet. When the energy runs out I feel like a deflated balloon. I would certainly have lived differently if I knew then what I know now, but I did the best I could at the time. So did you. Enjoy your healthy future.:flowerforyou:

Sylvia: Lucky you, to have a husband that makes such good suggestions!

Sandy from ONT: I tried to do what you’re doing: work, gym, and meals. I couldn’t make it all happen and a lot of that was the length of my commute-two hours a day. Could you go to the gym before work, and have dinner earlier with your family?:flowerforyou:

Joyce: I’m glad your MIL was doing so much better. Enjoy it while it lasts!:flowerforyou:

Nichele in NC: You and Vince are a good team working in your yard together. It seems to give you a lot of satisfaction.:flowerforyou:

Calitchima: Welcome to the group. Here are my best tips:

    1. The first and best lesson I learned here in MFP is that portion control allows me to eat most of the things I love. I was already eating healthy foods, just too much. You may have some junk to weed out, but I’ll bet you’re eating healthy foods too. I bought a food scale from Amazon for not too much money, and also dishers. These look like ice cream scoops, and allow me to quickly serve myself a known quantity of soft things like cottage cheese, rice, potatoes, & cooked veggies. Some things had to go to my “never eat this” list, like potato chips and other salty snacks that are difficult to stop eating once I start.

    2. You can “buy” more food by eating back part of your exercise calories. So If you just have to have that ice cream you can earn it on the stationary bike. (Insert your favorite exercise)

    3. Stop by here when you need support. This is a terrific group.

    4. Never give up.

    5. Log EVERY bite, even the stuff you'd rather not admit eating.:flowerforyou:

DeeDee: I’m happy to hear you had an awesome week.:flowerforyou:

We had intense rain last night that came down almost like cloud bursts. I will have to pump water out of my dinghy this morning. It is still raining, but not as hard. The dinghy is usually hanging from the back of the bigger boat with the drain plug pulled out and takes care of itself, but now while the bigger boat is in the yard getting repaired and painted it is floating with the plug in and filling up with rain. So I have work to do.

I hope everyone has a good day today.

    Katla in Beautiful NW Oregon

    September goals:
    1. Log every bite
    2. Move more.
    3. Drink at least 4 glasses of water daily.

Another good day on the strength training. Crunches reached my Sept goal of 75 again. Squats also reached my Sept goal - 25 weighted ones. Plank reached 2.25 pb. 2.30 is my Sept goal so nearly there. Oh the plank is HARD!

Today I have been a Domestic Goddess. DH and I made 7 lbs of plum jam from our own tree. They look so pretty in their Bon Maman check topped jars with Cath Kidson labels on them, saying Victoria Plum 2013. It gives me a warm glow.
I also roasted some beetroot for my salads.
DH set up some new wine racks, having inserted some nails the manufacturers forgot to put in and we had to have sent on. We have 78 new bottle holes. Most of it is full!  We are still ordering lovely wine as if we are drinking it, but we have a bottle so rarely these days. The cupboard under the stairs was getting jammed up with boxes and we couldn't remember what we had bought! Hence the new racks. They are in the lobby to the guest room, where the cot is. Let's hope the new baby doesn't feel thirsty in the night!
We had a bit of much needed rain last night, but we could do with more for the veg.
The painter has replied and we will be going to France in December! I will book the overnight ferries tomorrow. It should be quite nice with a cabin and entertainment if you feel like it. I shall probably repair to bed with a book, but you never know! I might want to strut my stuff!:drinker: I also have to book the train for the Bath expedition. In Britain you save about 2/3 if you book in advance, or even more. I have a Senior Railcard as well, for even more off. Makes it very cheap, but you do have to get organised and catch one particular train, like a plane.

Tandoori chicken and the eggplant sticks tonight, with raita. That has now become one of our standards, our 'signature dish'.! Anyone who hasn't tried the Baked Eggplant Sticks from skinnytaste.com ,and who likes eggplant, should try it.

    Bye for now.

Good Morning, Ladies! Well, the downside of that great shopping trip hit last night. The ankle swelled and is very tender to walk on. I just hate having arthritis! I guess I will have to put my foot up whenever I sit down today. I hate, hate, hate being reminded that I am no longer 45, but am truly 65! Hate, hate, hate it! :explode:

Welcome to all the newcomers!:flowerforyou: It is so fun to make new friends!

I am going to spend some time today w/ my little 98 year-old friend, and then I am going up to the scrapbook store for an evening crop night. My plan for tonight is to get my Christmas cards designed! I still haven't gotten that done, and time is getting short! I know, it's only Sept., but I want to be able to get them all made during the retreat in Oct.

I haven't gone to the OA and Al-Anon meetings yet this week, so that is on my agenda for tomorrow. I haven't found anyone that I am comfortable enough with to call on non-meeting days, but, all of you, unbeknownst to you, have been serving as listening posts, so I am still talking to people. Thank you for being here for me. I think I have come out of the darkness that I have been in for a few weeks, and I know that it is partially due to the kind things you have said, your support, and your wisdom that has been freely shared. Thank you all.

Sandy- I am glad your headache was a short one!

Michele- I found some pumpking butter up at the Williams & Sonoma store that is delicious and lower in calories than any peanut butter I have found. However, it was really expensive! Do you have any recipes for pumpking butter?

OK- time for me to get off the computer and busy for the day. I will check back in later. Happy Friday, My Friends!

for today: breakfast: 2 slices of toast w/ pumpkin butter
    lunch: yogurt and raspberries
supper: fried rice made from leftover from P.F. Chang's and Joe's Crab Shack (  )
snacks for the crop night: sugar free hard candies; 3 gf cookies.

Hello to all: Like many others on here today I am having a good day! I went in the pool and did shoulder exercises this morning before I went to physical therapy. Drew says I should keep doing that as it made it easier for him to do range of motion. So I will do that at least once a week. Had a meeting with my manager at work to listen to a presentation on a new pool lift. I think maybe we found a good one that will work well for our facility (hospital rehab pools).

DH and I delayed celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary until today. We are going to a really nice restaurant for dinner and then to the stage play of "War Horse". I am really excited to see it and I have saved calories and done extra exercise so I can splurge a little tonite at dinner.

Sending healing angels to all who need them and I am so glad so many are having a good day. Sue in SD

Hi everyone. Sorry I have not been posting regularly. I have been in a funk the last few days, but that’s done and over with now. I’m amazed to say that even with all the bad food I have been eating (think fried mushrooms) I lost 0.4 pounds this week, so that inspired me. I still think it’s going too slowly though LOL! I also updated my measurements and on the good side I have lost 1 ½ inches in my waist and bust, 1.8” in my hips, ¾” in my thighs, and 1/8” in my calves. Oddly my flabby arms grew as did my calves! It may be “operator error”, or at least for the leg, one side is definitely larger than the other.

Well the hardwood floor was installed yesterday and Monday they will come sand and varnish. It is beautiful. The basement…not so hot. The project manager came over and was very displeased. He did say if they can’t find our trim, they have a cabinet shop and they will manufacture it for us. It appears the whole basement will need re-carpeting as Servepro ripped the carpet once again, in one place right by a seam. If they can’t find the exact dye lot, it’s all new for the third time in 4 years.

I’m starting on the last page here, so apologies to those I am missing. I think I’m behind by about 5 pages.

Pat: sounds like your trip is so much fun ! I love Joe’s but the sodium even in their plain steam pots is astronomical! I got a steam pot once then looked it up on their nutrition site….over 10,000 mg of sodium. I nearly had a stroke. Are you able to talk about your negative spirits at OA?

Shoing: you are new to me so I’ll say welcome! Sorry your feet keep you from your walks!

Joyce: my body wakes me up at 4, but danged if I ever actually get up that early!

Heather: so glad you are feeling well these days…younger, more energetic! I’m with you about food. I do love fabulous food and look forward to great meals. The challenge for me is making sure they are healthy. I think food can be the heart of a family life and that can be done in a happy, healthy way without it becoming a crutch and an emotional filler if you know what I mean. Baked eggplant sticks! YUM

Jane; happy date night; post a pic with your new hairdo!

Sylvia: I spend most of my leisure time with 1-4 animals draped all over me in the recliner. You were very kind and patient to let that lady “help” you! I’m with you on bananas….slightly green, choke them down!

Sandy: sorry about the fight with the bike! I would make dinners ahead as you planned and just add some fresh veggies and/or fruit to go along with it. I tend to make 2 casseroles when I make one. That way there is one to freeze. Also you can buy rotisserie chicken to cut up and freeze and that’s ready to use.

Jfenner: it’s great to see some muscles, isn’t it?

Joyce: you take care of those toes, girl!!!

Grandmallie: I sure hope that shot helps. You have had your share of pain with that foot!

Barb: welcome! My best advice is to become a regular here and make one change at a time.

    Gail: great walking!

Barbie: you crack me up…underwear at the hardware store!

Renny: I hope DH knows how much you will miss him!

Michele: you are right about the weight loss….I wanted to lose 2 pounds a week too, but I am averaging about 0.8 which is still great, but it’s hard not to be frustrated because I want it to melt off LOL

Paula: you are new to me to so I’ll say welcome! What is sleeve surgery?

    Calitchima: welcome to the group!

DeeDee: I get bad about watering my plants once school starts. It’s almost like someone turns a switch. Fall time…no more watering!

Suzy: we are looking forward to renovating our bathroom and main hall bathroom once the kids leave. Let us know how it works out and if you have any tips!

    Katla: great tips!!

    Lisa & Debbie: welcome!

Sue: happy anniversary! Enjoy your special evening.

Well I actually did 2 pages so now don’t feel so bad! Off to book writing!
Take care, Meg from Omaha where I'm not sure if it's summer or fall!

Oh my, if only I would listen to my consience:cry: Week before last I went to the Y once, Last week I went once and I jsut got back for my one trip this week. I tell myself that I should be going AT LEAST 3 times a week but I just don't do it. And I sure found out the bad way that I feel it. But I guess I needed to experience that for myself. When I was going regulalry I was up to ridng my recumbant bkie up to 7 miles. So I have been trying to ride this eliptical lokking type machine but I sit doing it. It's the kind that's in nursing home! I barley got through 1 mile and it took over 20 minutes to do it in where I was doing 7 miles in 45 minutes. So I am tired, disgusted with myself and hopefully on the way to learning the hard way. It only burned 50 calories but that is 50 calories I wouldn't have burned otherwise.

    Happy Friday !

I find myself extremely tired today...and then realized that I have had company for the last 12 days in a row....yeah, that can tire me out! Love the people, but I find that I am tempted to eat the wrong things when I am that zonked......don't know how it is for you?

Trying to do a few things but keep it low energy today, so I can recoup before the first day of classes on Monday!

Another crowd, another performance in shared learning.

Love some of the wisdom I read here today, and Renny's pic of a pound...ok, I am chastised and grateful too!

    Have a good weekend...BJ

For LindaDMazz who want to lose 40 pounds by Memorial day .... plug in the amount of weight you want to lose on your MFP settings and it'll tell you how many calories you can eat a day, plug in your exercise and it'll tell you more.

Sticking to it is the hard part.
    Good Luck:smile:

    Good afternoon, ladies,

Strange day........to begin with I ended up sleeping on the couch last night; stayed up way too late watching the Broncos/Ravens game and just stayed put where I was. Got awake too late for yoga this am, so got showered and set out in search of a bike basket. Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in mud or something...........I still have DD's box to send her open in the middle of her room, now she wants me to wait until she talks with the prof. advising her on one of her senior research papers and see if she needs more books sent. How many days have I been working on getting this box sent????? It's not in my way, just irritating because it is another unfinished thing on the agenda!!! I still have not gotten a bike ride yet to see how the milage counter is working either. AND did not find a bike basket I liked!! Frustrating...........

Spoke with the woman with the event I'm making some of the food for........she needs side dishes and desserts (OH, Michele.......) LOL! Maybe I'll do a couple French coconut pies, they are easy.

Barbie.....the trip to take my friend for her cataracts should be about an hour each way; I'll likely stay while she's operated on, just take a book.

Grandmallie........No Prednisone for me; makes me absolutely manic, know it does wonders for some people though

Sylvia.......how patient you were with your "helper"; makes me crazy when too many people want to talk while I'm trying to hit my machines and get done

Sandy......Sorry to hear how opposite your day is from your son! On the food, I'd make in bulk and freeze---stews, chile, soups---or do the meat and then just add the veg.........don't forget, fish is done in just about no time

Meg.....Those losses on your measurements are wonderful!!!

Pat.........Too bad such a wonderful day was followed up with one of pain........that really stinks, hope you are feeling better

Dee Dee.........Wish your vacation was longer; it's been so nice to see you back here with your posts!!!

Heather..........Your plum jam sounds delish........as do ALL your dishes!!

    As always
    Welcome Newbies!!! Stick around!!!!!!!!

    Bye for now,
    yanniejannie
mid-Atlantic and heading out on that bike NOW!!!
