Government shutdown

I know this can and probably will spiral out of control, but since I have been home from work all day, and for the foreseeable future, I'm going to vent. You can agree with me, you can ignore me or you can disagree. This is America, we have that right.

There is no one on earth that despises this president, senate and obamacare more than me. That being said, obamacare is the law and here to stay. To refuse to fund the government over it is nothing but a political show.

I have many views I will not expound on now or this will really get ugly. I just believe in working hard for what I have and I do not like people taking it from me to give to those that wont.

Ready go.....:)

This is going to get shut down very soon, but...

Doesn't matter who is in office. One side will disagree with the other side just to follow party lines. It has been like this for a very long time and will only get worse. No matter who is in the majority.

There have been lots of other laws that no longer exist because people did not go out without a fight.

Yeah! And all of the voters in the U.S. will elect the same people who are currently causing this mess.

Everyone complains about our President, Senators and Congressmen yet elect those same people over and over again. I can't even blame politicians anymore. Our country is doomed until people start to realize that there are other options on election day than the Republican or Democrat. Everyone is so focused on hating liberals or hating conservatives that they ignore the underdogs, the people whose names they DON'T recognize.

I was hoping this might be an eyeopener for people, but you are probably right. Cant complain if we continue the same abusive process over and over again

I didnt think you had to edit your post. You have to remember that last November many people were sold a load of bull. Basically we were promised rainbows and unicorn farts. No one really understood the bill or saw some of the tack on to that bill. That was before congress voted health subsidies for it's self and staffers.

Now that we know that we will be forced by the government and insurance companies to buy insurance or we are penalized it's the perfect time to show how happy we are this November. Let's shock Congress.

    Brilliant!!

    couple of points.

    1) This isn't America its the internet. It can cross water.

    2) Obamacare and what I know about it (which is next to hee haw) is a step in the right direction no question.

    3) You're absolutely right why should you or I or anyone work our *kitten* off to care for those who wont. However the fact is some people need help and I, and probably you would gladly help these people who are just like us but hit a hard time. The tricky bit is sorting out the scum who pray on the system and exploit any good that could come of it. if we can sort that out then obamacare and NHS would be spent on those who deserve it

    luv and hugs from Scotland

I've got to say this and just cause I'd like some input, and I know how you all feel about Daily Mail and it's credibility, but I just read about an article where this woman had a tweezer addiction so gets to go on life long disability and her husband had to jump on disability to take care of her. So tax dollars spent on a woman who basically has my problem.

My point exactly (however you have to question the reliability of the source lol) the tricky bit is weeding out those who abuse the system.

This really has nothing to go with most of the comments posted above, but does have to do with the shutdown.
    GO VETS!!!
I got tears in my eyes reading about what they did. After storming the beaches of Normandy and seeing comrades die, and some losing limbs themselves, they had to storm the barricades to see the memorial that rightfully belongs to them. Kudos to "The Greatest Generation"!

I agree, perhaps some good will come out of all this after all.

I think a real problem is GOOD HONEST people are afraid to run for offices since the system is so corrupt and for whatever other reasons. Growing up in the past, didn't lots of kids want to be the president? Now they say no way they'd rather be an actor, an athlete, musician. I think our values as a whole need shifted.

And I just realized I sound like my mother.

Edited to change a to an before actor, jeez and I used to teach English!

I posted this in my updates, but I thought I'd put it here, since I think it's relevant:

A lady that works here part time for little more than minimum wage signed up for her and her 2 kids for $19/month on the ACA market site this morning. She didn't even know it had gone live today, was ecstatic when I told her and she got on the site and registered. I dunno how this all plays out over time, but seeing stuff like that makes me smile.

8 years ago I was working for AT&T Broadband and we had a big health insurance meeting. I watched a father break into tears in an auditorium full of employees trying to determine if his son who was suffering from MD would be covered by his company insurance and being told no. It's a scene that's picture perfect in my head today, and I always think about what if that was my son or daughter, what would I do?

I feel like ACA probably has some issues, just like any new legislation, social security and medicare weren't perfected in a day, but I think the good for people like the lady in my office far outweighs the bad. Shutting down the government for it seems extreme and selfish, and I hope this ends soon for the people who work for and are affected financially by the furloughs and lack of support they need.

One million people will not be working and the govt. says that things will still run smoothly. How sad is that?

Still, most people don't want real change or they would get out and vote for it.

I absolutely agree with you. No matter who is in office and the majority party, this will continue. They need to get off their own view and look at things collectively.
