I have 2 kids, a full time job, I get home late, gotta clean, cook, no time. Fast food is super cheap. I'm stressed, Depressed.

Tell me about it. I have two jobs and I go to school. It's tough.
  • i'll do it tomorrow.

Too busy, too tired, too sore... these have been my typical excuses.

The important thing to remember is they are always excuses. If the were valid they would be REASONS.

There is no reason in the world that people can not stick to an overall healthy lifestyle. NONE

The following conversation actually took place a month ago when I was doing barbell bench presses for the first time in my life.:

Me (frowning at the Olympic bar as I lay on the bench): "I can't. It's too heavy. My wrists hurt after that warm-up set."

Partner: "You really can't lift this or you just don't want to?"

    Pwned.

    Ooo, great thread!

I just took a shower, did my hair, and did my makeup.

(Guess what I should have done? Worked out BEFORE doing all of that!)

Now with uni and work and money issues I really need to concentrate on spending wisely - it's just cheaper to buy a quick meal then to prepare one.

Well my excuses came with consequences as I'm now heavier then I have been in 3months.

buy grass already grown, laying sod "planting" it. good strength training.

ah, we call it instant lawn or roll out turf.

ive done enough of that in my time. no thanks.

One of my favorites: "It's early Saturday morning, and I gotta go get the grocery shopping done before the masses of crazy people get there. I'll work out when I get home." Then when I get home: "I'm tired already and it's too late. And there's all this fun food I just bought." Twisted, eh?
"I'm not doing the best routine/program/class anyway."

I caught myself using this excuse today. But I'm calling myself on it. It might not be the best, but it's better than nothing.

If I workout I will be MORE tired, if I nap I will be LESS tired

Usually, it's I'm tired which leads in to, I bet I'm iron deficient again.

A little over a mile into the run, calf muscle seized up and said nuh-uh!
Heck yes, I listened. I'm almost 300 calories over net for the day, but I can't even walk right now.
  • I can't find the time...I work third shift (or the graveyard shift to some) and I don't know WHEN is the best time for working out....

I work third shift, go to school and have a 3 year old. I only gets five days of sleep in every week, one day a week, awake for 24 hours, one day a week, awake for 30 hours...every week...since February and staying that way until 05/14. I make up the lack of sleep in calories to keep me going. And my sinuses. My goddamned sinuses. Make me miserable.

I am 8 months pregnant and my doctor said I needed to stop doing my zumba classes since I am 1cm dilated and doesn't want me giving birth on the dance floor.

    this is legit, no excuse

I have a bone disease and the past few months my knees, hips and ankles have been killing me so I gave up the heavy leg lifts (deads and squats) to see if that would help. (it hasn't)

Currently: I have the flu and feel like I'm going to pass out from any exertion.

Yes, this. It is definitely a challenge to get a work out in when you work 7p-7a, but I do it on my 30 min break at work. I do 20 mins step aerobics and have 10 mins to eat a quick bite. It's funny, I give into silly excuses at home on days off and stick to it at work.

"Oh, that's what I'm doing today? But I'll be so sore when I have to do it day after tomorrow. It's better if I just wait."

That was a fair one the 1st week or 2 with terrible DOMS, but I'm way on into my plan now. I don't need quite so many rest days! Or 'just abs' days: "I'll just do abs and that's good enough."

    *facepalm* I'm awful.

I didn't realize it's the weekend and that the gym closes early. :frown: I have such a bad sense of time. I don't get up until about 2pm by the way. That's my usual schedule. I go to bed around 5 or 6am. By the time I realized my error it was too late, and I don't go out running after dark. I probably could've worked out here at home, but it would have to be things like pushups and sit ups. I can't do jumping jacks, dance around with the music on, or run in place. It makes way too much noise and I live in an apartment. That said, I restricted calories today and will go to the gym tomorrow.
Blah. Restricting calories. Now that I'm steadily losing weight I'm getting a little too obsessed with that. I feel like I could slip up at any time. Like the weight will just come back out of nowhere for one day that I don't go to the gym. But that's all for another thread.

I haven't lost any weight in a month, it's because I'm exercising too much.
