What do you eat for breakfast?

I don't actually eat real breakfast stuff, so I'm thinking of switching to oatmeal. I read that instant is bad, but old fashioned takes a long time to cook (30 mins) What do you suggest? What do you like to eat in the morning?

I have steel cut oats with a few raisins and some chopped walnuts. I cook up a cup of dry oats to make 4 1 cup servings. I put it into 4 containers and just microwave one every morning. If not oatmeal, then I do little mini crustless quiches in quantity and store them the same way for a grab and go.0

If I eat oatmeal, I use instant. Otherwise I eat cold cereal or an egg and toast.0
-
Low calorie bread with some low calories jelly.
If not, I will eat oatmeal or cream of wheat.
Sometimes cereal, but remember portion control.0 -
Looks like a lot of oatmeal fans. But it seems for the good stuff, it takes a while to cook. Is cooking when you have time and microwaving/re-heating for breakfast fine / do-able?0

I use quick rolled oats, they can be cooked in the microwave in 90 seconds (or you can cook them on stovetop but thats just more dishes to wash!)0
-
There is an instant steel cut oatmeal that isn't too bad. The brand is McCann's.
I usually eat a few eggs. Then a green juice/smoothie a bit later in the morning to hold me 'til lunch.0 -
When I'm working I have cereal and on my days off I have veggie eggwhites, turkey bacon, pancakes or hash browns.0
-
i eat oatmeal every single day ;-; i just go with quick oats and almond milk in the microwave for 3+ minutes (i like it to boil sort of and become a nice texture) and if im in a rush ill take it with me in a thermos0

i like the instant oatmeal. they have lots of yummy flavors. i don't eat it so much for breakfast anymore though.
i typically do a lot of protein: sliced ham, turkey bacon, eggs here and there, cheese, yogurt.. breakfast is my favorite! :happy:0 -
I generally make a smoothie with fruit, spinach, yogurt and almond milk0
-
I keep it simple with just a bowl of chocolate corn flakes with milk :O
BUT I only eat 1 meal (other than the corn flakes) for the whole day.0 -
I like to have big breakfasts because it just starts my day right and keeps me full longer:) I usually have an egg white omelet with spinach, green peppers, and mushrooms along with a small bowl of go lean crunch cereal and 30 calorie almond milk. Sometimes, I'll throw in a slice or two of sara lee 45 calorie bread. Usually, my entire meal is under 400 calories and it keeps me filled all the way to lunch without any snacking0

A smoothie-quick and easy
Almond milk or Trop 50 Orange jucie
frozen fruit
non-fat greek yogurt
sometimes I add protein powder
sometimes cocoa, a frozen banana, and 1 Tbs. of Jif Peanut Butter0 -
I like to make a whole egg omelet in between two slices of Weight Watchers Multigrain bread. If I don't have the time then a protein shake made w/ Vega Natural flavour, almond milk, half a banana and a teaspoon of peanut butter. It is delish0
-
Scratch made Waffles alot of the time, Bagels with Crunchy All Natural Peanut butter drizzled with honey, I will do Oatmeal with brown sugar and a touch of cinnamon, Egg and Bacon with sharp cheddar cheese on english muffins, if I am in a rush then it is Krave Double chocolate cereal with a banana cut up in it.. Those are a few of my norms of course with all those goes a travel mug of keurig coffee....0

I eat via commuting - my life is busy! I bake a huge batch of high protein muffins (11 g/muffin) and freeze. I boil up a few eggs so they are ready for the week too. So, breakfast is: 1 muffin, 1 hard boiled egg and a few almonds and walnuts with a few pieces of veggies too. I'm usually pretty hungry in the am and need lots to last me! A few hours later I have some more veggies and nuts.0

You can always cook oats in the microwave.
I usually eat(as in, like 98% of the time) 1/2 cup of Special K cereal or some other cereal and some low fat soy milk.
Here are some other things I eat (just not as often)
Cottage Cheese and Peaches
Healthy Life bread and sugar free jelly
Oats with cinnamon, sweetener, and pumpkin pie spice
Egg Substitute and Healthy Life Bread (toasted)0 -
I have a cup of Greek yogurt with blueberries or strawberries.0
-
I eat old fashioned rolled oats (half a cup) mixed with one egg, water and half a banana (in pieces). I zap it in the microwave for 90 seconds and then mix in the banana. It is a great filling breakfast!0
-
i don't really have a standard breakfast given that the first thing i have during the day will be at about 2pm, but when that happens i'll either a bulletproof coffee, or a protein shake.0
-
depends. I had 3 oreo cookies and a pop tart for breakfast. Sometimes, I have a protein and banana smoothie.0
-
1 large microwave bowl
1 cup of Walmart oats (not the quick ones)
1cup of 2% milk
1 cup of water
Micro for 3 minutes. Let it sit for 10 to absorb the liquids.
Add powdered cinnamon, craisins and 2 packs of Splenda. Mix in. Let it sit some more.
Divide into 2 servings and eat one today and another tomorrow.0 -
I never used to eat breakfast when I was overweight, oddly enough. Now? I've gotten my metabolism used to eating breakfast. Now I absolutely HAVE to eat breakfast or else I feel weak, off, and out-of-it until I get a chance to eat lunch.
Most mornings I eat one of these options:
-If I'm in a super rush, I grab some kind of nutrition bar that I stock up on at home (usually Zone, Luna, or Cliff) and eat it on the way
-Cold cereal with vanilla almond milk, with fresh bananas or strawberries mixed in
-A toasted ham, cheese, and boiled egg sandwich on a whole wheat english muffin (my homemade egg mcmuffin lol!)
And, of course, I always have a strong cup of coffee with my breakfast!
I breakfast!0 -
I alternate between eggs or oatmeal.
2-3 eggs, fried in coconut oil (unless there's bacon grease around!)
Sourdough or whole wheat toast with butter
Black coffee
Fruit (sometimes)
or
Oatmeal (I like Trader Joe's Multi-Grain Oatmeal) - 2 minutes in the microwave, stir, 2 more minutes, done!
1/3 cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tbs honey
1/8 cup walnuts
fruit (bananas, raspberries, blueberries, peaches, whatever)
cinnamon
black coffee
You can also do overnight oats - grab a mason jar, or any container with a good lid:
1/2 cup oats of your choice
1/2 cup milk (or milk substitute)
1/3 cup plain yogurt
1/2 tsp cinnamon
Shake it up, pop it in the fridge overnight. In the morning, add fruit, honey, nuts and stir it up, then dig in. Or if you're on the go, put the lid on, grab a spoon and take it with ya. It's delicious, even cold.
Occasionally I go all out with pancakes or waffles, bacon, etc, but the eggs or oatmeal are my usuals.0 -
I can't cook at work so I have to use instant oatmeal, plus I think instant oatmeal is much healthier than the sausage, bacon, hashbrowns and eggs that they serve in the cafeteria. my typical breakfast:
3 cups coffee/2 creamers
3/4 serving of zucchini bread
3/4 serving of total cereal w/about 1/3 cup of almond milk original
1.5 servings of oatmeal w/14g of walnuts and 35g of blueberries
1 banana
total calories: about 930
now that's a breakFEAST!0 -
The breakfast I eat almost every day is 3 palm sized corn tortillas browned in a grill pan, an eggbeater omelet with swiss cheese in the middle. Sometimes I add 2-3 slices of turkey bacon.0

I can never decide if I want sweet or savory, so I often have both! I make a big batch of scrambled eggs + veggies that lasts the whole week in the fridge. I dish out a ~150g portion of eggs and then have a whole grain waffle or slice of Ezekiel cinnamon raisin bread topped with 12g Justin's Maple Almond Butter and a smidge of low sugar superfruit spread. so delicious! I like oatmeal sometimes but I don't find it very satisfying to eat, texture-wise. I need to chew and crunch my breakfast, I don't like mush! The Kashi GoLean cinnamon instant oatmeal is good and microwaves quickly but has lots of healthy whole grains- much better for you than most quick oats I think!
One of my favorite breakfasts of all time is a bagel with cream cheese and lox! I used to just avoid bagels like the plague when I was eating "healthy", but now I try to eat what I'm craving but make it healthier! I get whole wheat everything bagels, I scoop out the doughy center of the bagel to reduce calories (I track by weight) and I use light veggie cream cheese. Smoked salmon is great AM protein- it's great with eggs or toast too!0 -
Bump for yummy breakfast ideas.0

Most mornings I have to run out the door really early in the morning and I am not a morning person so I will make a smoothie the night before with yogurt, fruit, almond milk, and protein powder. Sometimes, cereal and milk. Cream of wheat made with almond milk is another fave. I like oatmeal but I use the instant. I prefer cream of wheat though.
On the weekends, I like to have some eggs (1) w/ bell pepper & onion, bacon, & pancakes w/ light syrup.0 -
I think I'm going to quit eating breakfast and just have coffee. I'm really tired of wasting 300-400 calories on a meal I don't really even enjoy!0
