Smoothie FAILURE

This is my favorite smoothie ever. I'm not much of a smoothie person, but I have this post workout as a reward. I also don't like bananas, which are very common in smoothie recipes (this one doesn't).
1/3 cup vanilla greek yogurt
1 tbs ground flax seed (optional... it makes the smoothie a bit grainy, so if you don't like that leave it out)
1/3 cup oatmeal (you could probably leave this out too, but you cut down the protein/fiber a bit)
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
6-8 frozen strawberries
1/2 cup orange juice
Just throw it all in a blender and mix until it's smooth. (320 calories, 0g saturated fat, 9g fiber, 14g protein)0 -
My go to smoothie is:
1 banana
1 scoop protien powder
1 cup frozen mixed berries
1 cup skim milk
ice
Frozen things in the blender make the smoothie thicker.0 -
I am right there with you! i made a Kale/Pear smoothie this morning and holy batman! It was a bad first experience. I've tricked my senses into thinking its 'delicious' but I know for a fact I can't go on making smoothies like this. Too bad coz I have a lot of Kale still in my fridge. Anyone have suggestions?0

Texture. If you do it with fresh fruit it's more like juice. Frozen fruit makes it thicker.0

I've discovered that I love banana but I don't like it so much on smoothies... So I need to try those strawberries and blueberries. Thanks!0 -

The last smoothie I attempted to make had the consistency of wilted spinach. Not exactly appetizing in liquid form...0

Every time I stray from my regular smoothie plan, I am disappointed.
1 banana
1/2 cup Greek yogurt
1/2 cup juice that isn't citrus (like apple or guava or something)
a handful or so of berries or pomegranate seeds or something like that.
Blend that sh it together.
I sometimes add a few leaves of spinach, too.0 -
I do a protein shake for breakfast most mornings. Super filling. I'm also gluten intolerant, so I have a GF protein powder in chocolate fudge and it's great! I add 3/4 cup milk, 2 tbsp peanut butter, a banana that I slice up and freeze beforehand, and 5-10 frozen strawberries (depending on the size). I tried adding oats once, but just couldn't get over the consistency. It's fairly calorie dense, but I stay really full from all the protein!0

apples don't make for good smoothies i've learned...
This morning i had protein powder, milk, strawberries and a banana. No problems. Seriously, it was that easy:
1 cup strawberries
1banana
1 serving protein powder - I got a free thing on Tosi and it's gluten free, as I'm also gluten intolerant
1/2 cup milk
Also - not all oats are gluten free, but i'm sure you know that. I don't like adding oats into my shake anyways.0 -
1 cup frozen blueberries
1 banana
1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
1/2 cup pineapple juice (or 1/4 cup each of pineapple juice and coconut water)
Pretty much the only smoothie I make. It's delicious.0 -
i make one every day for myself and kids
almond milk
spinach
chia seeds
banana
and i add ovaltine chocolate mix for my kids ( better than quick) for "better" flavor.0 -
I've never put oatmeal in my smoothies. That does sound horrible.
My favorite smoothie is:
1 cup (8oz) nonfat greek yogurt, plain
1 cup (8oz) carrot juice
1/2-1 banana
1 cup frozen berries (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries or a combo)
1 teaspoon fresh or chopped ginger
Fresh, sweet and delicious.0 -
2 cups almond or coconut milk
1 cup frozen fruit
2 scoops protein powder
blend.
drink.

Haha that's kind of funny but kind of sad... sorry to hear about your smoothie fail.
I noticed apples usually don't work out too well because they never get perfectly smooth. I haven't tried oats yet either. Maybe go for failsafe soft stuff first - banana, mango, very ripe pears, berries.0 -
Green smoothies are yum! I don't have certain amounts but I have a fav!
Spinach, Mango, pineapple, orange juice. If your fruit is frozen you won't need to add any ice for this one!0 -
bump for the recipes0
