You don't owe anyone here an explanation. Take care of yourself - glad you got answers.

Best wishes! PCOS raises your risks for heart disease, and diabetes. I'm glad that you will have health insurance soon, so that you can have the ongoing health care that you need. Proper treatment for PCOS will make it easier for you to get your other conditions under control, and it will help with your weight loss goals too. Stay strong! You will get through this.

    SEE A DR!

Can you go to an emergency clinic? The visits are much lower cost than the ER, and I'm pretty sure you don't have to have insurance.

Good to see the updates and that the doctor is eager to find some answers.

A diagnosis means something to aim treatment at. :)

Its alright and understandable; it is difficult to explain things when you are in the middle of something like this. Thankfully the second ER doctor did not have her head up her *kitten* and actually took time to listen to you and give you proper treatment.

Honey, do NOT apologize to anyone here. That's not necessary at all. I'm really glad you finally got a doctor who would listen to you (and when you're feeling a little better, definitely call the hospital and file a complaint against the first doctor).

I hope you start to feel a little better soon and can get yourself back to normal. I'm thankful I haven't had to deal with anything like that, but I've suffered from chronic migraines/chronic daily headache for about 7 years now and it took about 3-4 years for me to get my doctor to listen and refer me to a neurologist (I was on an HMO at the time and couldn't go to a specialist without a referral). Sometimes you just have to keep pushing and fighting until people will listen and try to help you. Only you know what's normal and not normal for you.

    Best of luck! :flowerforyou:

Glad you went to the ER and got some answers! I'll keep you in my prayers.
  • Following this thread to find out the final outcome.
    Glad you got help.
Angry that you live in a system where you couldn't get access to medical care sooner (in a developed country?!)

Glad to hear you're doing better and getting good care.
And you don't owe anyone an apology for not being able to live up their idea of a good explanation of a complicated medical situation right after you got the news. Take care of yourself, and best wishes for better health.

Try to rest if you can (I know, in a hospital that's almost an impossible request). I hope that the doctors who see you today/tomorrow can give you more insight and help. Don't worry about trying to have it all make sense to us right now, just work on getting some answers for yourself so you can get on the road to recovering from all of this.

^^This^^ and with ACA you can apply for medical assistance through you local office. Clearly you have medical problems. Go to the ER and they will tell you how to apply in the billing office. Good luck!

    Hope you're doing better.

Just wanted to say I've been through a similar type thing with having my TOM for 2-3 months nonstop. I don't recall weight gain associated with mine, but I really wasn't checking back then.

Long story short I ended up having several non-cancerous uterine polyps that they had to go in and surgically remove via D&C.

So happy that you not only went to ER, but that you stood up for yourself and demanded to see another doctor!! Great going!! Type 1 diabetes, though rare in adulthood is possible. When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, the doctor told me that due to auto immune disease issues he felt I was actually a type 1 diabetic, but that treatment is what is important, not which type you have.

Also, the first ER doctor told her that her hemoglobin and hematocrit were ok, he most likely only ordered those tests, not a complete blood panel. So hooyah to the second doctor, who obviously took her job seriously!!

Is she giving you lasix to get rid of the extra fluids? I sure hope so as that will help you feel so much better!!

I am so happy you are getting treatment and although things will seem overwhelming at first, they will get better!!! Hugs and prayers for an unhampered recovery and regaining your strength and feeling better!!!

Thanks for all the updates!! Let us know how things go!!

I seriously doubt that the physician only ordered an H/H. There are protocols to follow and tests needed to rule out different diagnoses. Nobody knows what really happened and they should stop congratulating her for getting a second opinion. Just because the 2nd physician admitted her doesn't mean it was necessary. This happens all the time. We admit patients after they repeatedly come back to the ER. Is there something wrong, yes. Could it be treated outpatient, possibly. Is it an emergency, not likely.
