1 Pound a DAY

That's right I'm right at 1-2 pounds per day. My calorie intake is right under 1200 on some days to under a 1000 most days with 30-60min of speed walking. My friend said its bad but my Doctor said it's good just stay hydrated. What do you think? **** it's working!

You say you are losing 1-2 pounds a day? If so, there is no way that can be true. You'd have to eat at a 3,500 to 7,000 deficit to do so. It's probably water weight.

You're eating way too few calories.. You need to eat those exercise calories back because your calorie deficit is already built in when you set up your goals in MFP.

Finally, your doctor is wrong. Eating that few calories and not eating back your exercise calories can be potentially harmful to your health.

Yeah, it does kinda matter. You'd have more luck on the general weight loss board....and by luck I mean probably be told very bluntly that you're not losing 1 or 2 lbs of fat a day, that netting under 1,200 calories is unhealthy, and then a small flame war would break out.

Yep. I think I'll just lose weight by not starving myself, and keeping my hair and teeth.

I'll admit … I'm a bit confused. You have 15 pounds to go (per your ticker) and you have daily weigh ins with a doctor and he's okay with a VLCD (which is usually reserved for people with large amounts of weight to lose)? What am I missing here?

Also … to clarify, is this an MD? General practice or specialist? Weight loss clinic? Which degree exactly does your doctor hold?

AS you know your tracker is set to your goals and mine is Customized by ME for my goals. I was sent to a weight loss specialist due to my weight gain. I've gained so much weight tht it cause me to develop a block artery, pinched nerve, 6 hernia repairs. All my weight goes to my belly so it caused my spine to go in toward my stomach so I suffer with a lot of back pain. I have a lot of knee joint problems and the Dr. and therapist both said it's due to my weight. If I don't lose the weight I'll have to have knee surgery/ spine.

I'm not looking for wht I want to hear. But if he's doing this for a short period of time to see if he can save my legs and back then I'm on board. As of now it's working I'm 2.5week in and feeling great! It'll all be over soon I'll be at a healthy weight and then calorie goes back up to 1400. He has a plan wht works for you is you.

    :noway:
  • You asked what people think of your "diet"...they tell you...you get mad and defensive....

If you don't want to hear what people think and you're so convinced that your doctor is doing the right thing, why make a post about it?

Sorry you have health issues, but I don't see many people agreeing with you. Sorry.

You are aware that because of this level of restriction the likelihood that you will gain the weight back is rather high, yes? Is this an MD with a focus in nutrition and/or weight loss or a GP? I ask this because my GP, rheumatologist, and dietician all expressed the importance of slow and steady weight loss in order to have a high probability of maintaining said weight loss. I have plenty of health issues of my own that have limited my physical ability, and my weight gain has further affected this. However, I have rarely heard mention of VLCD being a long term solution.

What will you do if come the end on December you've gained half your weight loss back? You metabolism is going to slow down drastically do to VLCD and when you begin eating normally again your body won't be able to burn those calories the way you want. It will have assumed you are in a period of famine and hold onto the nutrients and fats you eat. It's why crash diets have such I high failure rate. Please consider what you are doing to your body and whether it is worth such a temporary accomplishment.

Yeah.. That sounds eerily familiar to the hCG diet my previous MD put me on several years back without a second glance. Worked great... Until my kidneys started shutting down, my hair started falling out, and I lost consciousness trying to climb a flight of stairs.

Apples and a handful of walnuts isn't enough to keep your body healthy. You. Are. Harming. Your. Body.

Yes. Certain boards are for certain subjects. This is the maintaining board. Take some time to learn how the forums work, for your own sake.

Ummmmm I'm not even gonna say a thing. I hope you have funeral insurance or something. At very least someone who will take care of you when you are very very very sick.... cause that's what's gonna happen.
