So I was talking to this lady at work a few weeks ago who was in the bathroom right before we all left for the day and she was dressed in workout clothes and brushing her teeth...."What are you doing?" I asked. After of course spitting a rinsing she responded "I hate working out with an unclean mouth.." What a weirdo I thought, but then the more I think about it I realized I have my own pet peeves when it comes to exercising! I CANNOT workout without first putting chapstick on...why? I have no clue. So I was just curious...what are your guy's workout pet peeves/must have??

Chapstick= again breathing heavy- lips get dried out, and sweat burns them when they crack.
I do both. :ohwell:0 -
I am very unhappy if I have to do cardio without music .0

fresh socks. the rare times i work out after work, i need to bring fresh socks. i just can't work out in socks i've been wearing all day.
biking to the pool and then swimming and then biking home?? you better believe i'm bringing an extra set of socks with me for the ride back.0 -
Sounds more like workout must have. Mine is water and right clothes. Guess I am an easy fix My pet peeve is A**holes at the gym who are in mega good shape scoffing at me for trying. Hey at least I am out there doing it not just sitting on my bum complaining! God I hate meat heads!0

I always shower before a workout.. Just feel warm and refreshed. Everyone always asks me if I am finished with my
workout and I explain to them why I shower. Just a habit I have from my racquetball days.
also I have to have the same bike for spin and the same spot for body pump. I wish I could change that.0 -

LOL Hubby is same way!0 -
When sweat gets in my ear and knocks my ear buds out.0

Soooo messed up! I don't think I'll ever understand people who act that way...whenever I see someone in the gym, no matter how big they are I ALWAYS think, HELL YEA! YOU GET IT! I admire anyone in the gym working to be healthier. Forget those losers, if they are that vain then how fulfilling could their lives possibly be? Sad for them. Keep it up with your hard work! You'll be even sexier that them in no time!0 -
Anyone using the weights I want, when I want them. It's my gym get outta my way!!!!0
-
People spending more time talking in the locker room than out on the floor working out0

Ha, this is so me. I am friends with the owner of the gym and I looked at him the other day and asked if he could ask the guy using the rack to leave. I was joking, but man it drives me crazy Luckily, my gym is expanding and we will have a second rack soon.0 -
sweat in my eyes...but also
1. People sitting (do nothing) talking on a machine and getting the evil eye when you ask politely to work in.
2. People finishing a set and then sitting there resting for the next set...get up, some one else can use the machine while you are at rest. I promise to wipe it down after I finish each of my sets.0 -
The group of 4 old ladies standing around the circuit... getting in my way while I'm trying to work... and then when they tell me they have priority on the machines because they're doing that 30 minute thing. All 4 in a row. Um... NO.0

Fat guys who think they are all that cause they lift mega weight or short guys who think they are all that cause they are ripped....
Dude.... you're still fat...and you are still short. Get over yourself.0 -
If I forget my music, towel or water bottle...it's not going to be a good workout.
And I HATE when my earphone give me problems when i'm sweating0 -
Easy - the guy who raps and shadow boxes right outside the ladies' weight room. About two months ago he was hard at it and accidentally punched the wall o' mirrors in front of him. He made good contact, but luckily he didn't break it and just had to leave embarrassed.
I laughed so hard I had to hop off the stairmaster until I settled back down0 -
People that have the treadmill on an 80 degree angle and are walking while holding on the rails and leaning back...you do realize you are not doing any work at all?!?! The treadmill is doing everything....let go of the rails and use your arms and legs! If you can't walk on that angle, then LOWER IT! ugh!
People that sit on a machine and text and don't work out...Sunday, I did 4 different leg exercises with barbells while waiting for this guy to get off the leg press and I finished 4 exercises with 3 sets of 12 reps and he still was on it...MOVE IT OR LOSE IT PAL!!
Thank you for letting me vent.0 -
i hate when i have those days when my mind and body arent on the same page.
like yesterday i was mentally ready to KILL it in the gym but when i got there i just wasnt physically able to do it because my blood pressure was so low.0 -

Also people (and not necessarily girls ) who stand looking in the mirrors primping and preening just getting in the way!0 -
My biggest pet peeve is the chit chatty girls and guys on the treadmill that are running and carrying on a full conversation with the person next to them. They get louder and louder because they have to talk over the sound on the machine and them running. If I end up hearing them through my head phones, I stop and go somewhere else. It drives me nuts. If someone can carry on conversation that loud, they aren't working hard enough! Save your conversation for coffee time!0
-
The guys that talk around the weights/machines you want to use and they are just wasting time not working out..
Sweat from my head gets on my ears and my earbuds fall out (as someone else mentioned)
Having my music die during my cardio leaving me nothing to listen to for the rest of my workout
No music when doing cardio... hate it.. you hear everything..
1 side of my headphones starts to go bad and then goes out... I really feel like punching the machine for that..0 -

SO THIS! as well as the ones that run but then jump their feet to the side, stop go stop go stop go, if you can't handle running that fast then slow down the speed! lol0 -
1. Being hit on while working out. Really guy? I didn't make eye contact with you, I am clearly in the middle of working out, and you decide to approach me? No. Just no.
2. The old man at the gym who READS on the bench press bench. No, it is not a program he is following, it's a novel. While wearing jeans. Like it's a freaking Barnes and Noble. Although, I'll admit, it's hilarious to witness. And also, I don't bench press, so....
3. People who take an obscene amount of time with their sets. Does it really take you 20 minutes to use the leg press? Oh, what's that? Oh, I see you're texting 18 out of the 20 minutes. I get it. Also, not cool.
4. People who don't wipe up their sweat off the machines. Just ewwwww.
5. Wearing perfume or cologne to the gym. You are sweating ma'am, is it necessary to wear sex panther perfume on the stair master?! By the way, thanks for the sinus headache now.
On an unrelated note, I love my gym. :bigsmile:0 -
i think this thread was poorly titled. it's supposed to be about your personal idiosyncrasies in regards to the gym. you know, how some people have "their" elliptical, or something.0
-
Not so much a pet peeve anymore because I workout at home. I hated girls who hogged the cardio machines of course had a full face of makeup.
Oh and spray a ton of perfume cologne before working out. The combo of sweat and perfume makes me gag.0
