Oh my god! Are you people crazy?
Portland, Ore.? Michigan? There's nothing to do there.
    Minnesota? Quebec City? Too cold
Vail? Steamboat? The skiing is great. But the scenery is not as good as Wyoming or Montana or even the Sierras (places that tend also to be too cold).
Whistler, B.C.? Now you're talking. The ride up the fjord from Vancouver is easy and beautiful. The place is low key because it is Canada. You're near the ocean so it does not get super cold. The two mountains are spectacular. As I recall, there are lakes in the valley, or a lake. And, wildlife (the real kind) abounds. I have seen bears on the slopes many times, and I remember once a ski run was closed because there was a fox with a den, with babies, who would come and out chase the skiers if they came to close.

I love how many people suggest Park City.
There is a reason why Utah's license plates reads "greatest snow on earth."

    Banff, Alberta, Canada

    or

    Jasper, Alberta, Canada

    or

    anywhere in the Yukon

    or

anywhere in Alberta or the northern provinces in Canada......but I warn ya, snow gets old very quickly!!!!!:(.....you'll be wanting to jump on the next plane home in no time!!!lol

Banff and Lake Louise are beautiful, we have some great places all over in the US too... Glacier National Park...pretty much snow year round, so you can take your vacation in the summer, and still see snow. Leavenworth, Washington, during the month of December, looks like a postcard it's so pretty.

Whistler, B.C., skiing, ride the Gondola from one mountain peak to another and also try zip lining through the Valley

My hometown of Buffalo, NY is getting 4-8" tonight alone, so somewhere here lol. You can even hop on the thruway and be in Niagara Falls in 30 minutes! It's gorgeous in the winter.

Montreal - International city, some of the best restaurants in the world, skiing is 45 minutes away. Crazy nightlife. The Old Port. Safe.

In the towns south of Buffalo, NY, you can ski, sit by a fire and see a ton of snow probably for the next four or five months.

Ellicottville, especially, is beautiful and rustic.
