my husband pretends he doesnt mind but he does... he rarely accepts me paying for anything.. but i just figure its his problem not mine!
this is about where I am.
Technically I make more. But I have more bills- more obligations- more hobbies and generally higher spending habits.
He almost exclusively refuses to allow me to pay for food when we go out. And he often pays for stuff just because. Shrug- that's really his issue. I cover myself- and do my best to treat him well- but its' not a competition.
That being said- we don't live together- and I suspect we won't do shared accounts- we may have A joint account- but we will maintain separate ones I think as well.0 -

I have no issues with it what so ever and actually welcome it. My past partner choice did not reflect this in it gets quite tiring busting my *kitten* everyday only to have someone demand half of what I make, insist we go on vacations because "WE" can afford it, while "I" pay all the bills and also insist "WE" buy new things to impress "HER" friends.
On top of it, If my mate made a considerable amount more, I'd be more than happy to cook, clean and have a bottle of wine with "lip service" at the end of a work day. All that on top of doing all the typical manstuffs that so many of today’s “male” society has forgotten how to do.
So very, very interesting.0 -
Do you have a problem with your woman making more money than you? Yes, this is a serious question.I know men who have major "power" issues with their woman making more money than they do. They don't mind spending it, but it's clear they feel threatened by it when they bring it up often. What do you think?
It's not sexy when women make more than men.
Are you being serious?
Yes I'm being serious. You said this was a serious question.0 -

how does a woman who can take care of her self and provide for herself become unsexy??
to me that's even MORE sexy- intelligent- resourceful- and moving forward financially- how is that a turn off?
nothing like a power suit- heels and garters under that power suit with some money to play with- sounds like a big fat winnnnning!!!!!!!0 -

aw thanks!!!
I know I have an awesome man- i just wish he would stop being so damn squishy!!! LOL
but yeah- he's good to me- I only see him twice a week- so I try to tell him every chance I get!!!0 -
I could care less. She knows her place. She knows I'm the trophy boyfriend/better looking one in the relationship and should treat me as such.0
-
I guess it would all depend in my opinion. I wouldn't necessarily care cause I make a good living, but if I made 35K working at a convenient store a year or something, and the gal made 100K as a lawyer, that might be weird. Now if I made 35K as a teacher or something stereotypically "professional", would I still feel awkward about it? I don't know.0

My wife makes slightly more than I do from a salaried position....and she gets guaranteed annual raises because she is a teacher in a union and they are negotiated yearly into her contract. However, with my sales incentive bonus I clear slightly more than she does as well as a company bonus every year. As long as she does not try and make a point of it, we have no issues. Generally speaking though, we live comfortably, and buy things as we want/see fit. It's only big ticket "splurge" items that this discussion comes into place.0

*shrug* I dont think it would bother me, but I dunno never been in the situation
probably not though - that being said i love my career so I wouldn't want to give mine up0 -

the two are completely not related at all.
making money has nothing to do with being lady like.
money doesn't mean you are lady like or unlady like.
Because ghetto- lower class white trash people are so much more lady like? please. there are stereotypes for EVERY demographic- rich poor- tall skinny- black white- white class blue collar no class...
Being lady like is how you conduct yourself- not with how much money you make where you work or what you do or anything else about you.
wow you have some seriously missplaced idea's of what being a lady means.0 -

Ahh, man. I'm screwed already. My baby maker is broken and I don't like dresses.0 -
Not a man, but...
When my husband and I first married, I made more money than he did. Now that he has a Master's degree, he certainly makes more than me now. It was never an issue with him. He's VERY good at handling money, so we've been able to live comfortably our entire marriage, no matter how much we brought home.0 -

Hey, I completely agree. I personally think that any guy that earns under £70k a year and cannot support his dress wearing, baby and pie-making wife is quite frankly not manly, and should be ashamed to have a penis. Of course, I realise that not everyone shares this opinion, which should in turn make it completely unoffensive.0 -

Don't have a problem with it at all. I just show my dominance in the bedroom instead.
Best. Answer. Yet.0 -
I've always made more money than my husband and he didn't have an issue with it. The only time he was bothered by it was when he was first put on disability because he wasn't working anymore. He adjusted to that and now he's fine with the fact that I earn a pretty decent living. It affords us our house and our cars and our dogs. So we're good.0

If/when it happens, I won't have a problem with it. I would probably see it as a relief (unless it was a result of me becoming unemployed).0

My wife has made more than me for years, and we work in the same department at the same company.
Don't think twice about it. It's all our money anyway, high five to her for bringing home that bacon.0 -
I'm perfectly fine with it. I wouldn't mind being a house husband either0

I chuckled at that. Obviously a joke.0
