I can think of no legitimate reason why you shouldn't eat a donut.0

Rita, you can decide to eat the donut or not. Are you hungry? Is there nothing else available to you? Did you bring any snack for yourself to counteract the draw of the donut if you decide that you don't want to eat that because it is higher in carbs than you want to eat. If you want to eat it because you are afraid that you won't have enough food to eat at some point because you are a "poor" college student, then take one with you if you decide that you really need it for food. If you want to eat it because it is forbidden, think about cutting a quarter of one of the donuts and savoring that to satisfy your craving, or decide to eat the whole thing and deal in advance with any possible guilt for not remaining true to the plan that you decided to choose for yourself. As I understand it, with significantly low carb diets, once carbs are introduced, then ketosis no longer occurs and you stop burning your fat. It's your choice. You decide what you want to do and then do it. You are in control of yourself and what you eat. Own it and be in control When you can win over your emotional response, it can feel pretty good. I may need you to tell me all of this on another day.0

My office has free donuts at least once a week (terrible, I know). A dozen just appeared in our breakroom. I need some reminders of why I shouldn't eat one. I am trying to maintain a low-carb diet but I am also a college student and I have a hard time turning down free food. Help!
they are gross sugary lumps of processed carbs0 -

Because you know there will be at least one opportunity to eat a donut every week. Skip it this time and cut 50cals a day from you goal so you can have one next week. OR plan it into your macros that day if you know which day they will be in the office.0 -
As much as I eat everything there are some things that I have to 'plan ahead' before eating them. Doughnuts are one of those things.
So when free doughnuts are on offer I too have to fight the 'but it is free' rationalisation.
Whenever I am in that frame of mind I try to imagine that the food wasn't offered. What state of mind would I be in if they didn't offer the doughnuts? The fact that there are free doughnuts should have no consequence. It's not like I paid for them.
It's hard and it doesn't always work but you really need to focus all your rational mental energy on the moment.0 -
Because one leads to the next and you don't want to be the shape of a donut???0
