kale chips - so good!
So I made kale chips tonight - first time - no recipe just went for it.... 1 whole bunch of kale washed, and the center stem cut out then cut/torn into bit sized pieces - tossed the kale with 1 teaspoon of olive oil, put on a cookie sheet at 375 for about 3 minutes then stirred them around and cooked for 5 more minutes - sprinkled with a pinch of sea salt and ate the entire dinner plate full !!!! 65 calories.....
I'll be doing this again... what a great way to have your chip fix!

I have heard about these, but didn't know how to do it. I LOVE kale and use it in soups.... Yum. Thanks for sharing0

Hi - i tried one my freind made and i'm sorry but it tasted nasty.. so how come you feel they are delish and they tasted nasty to me?0
-
The last time I made kale chips, I think I left them in the oven for too long because they were disgusting. I really like kale though, it's fabulous in soups.0

nasty vs good tasting is so darn personal.... I HATE mint the flavor is totally yucky - so no thin mint cookies; no mint chip ice cream.... but love coffee flavored anything... So I'll do kale chips and you'll have to find something else sorry!0

Ditto- I think I was expecting more! I do like a kale salad though.0 -
I think I did it wrong ?!?
I made Kale chips today too and they just tasted awful0 -
For all those people saying they tasted awful - try cooking them on the LOWEST setting (for me that's 200) for 45 minutes to an hour or longer. The lower heat retains the nutrients and for some reason they just taste better (when I did them at the higher heat they were really bitter).0

I've tried making them twice now, I didn't like them at all. And I don't like the smell of them either. But raw in a salad I love it.0

So, make sure you are using the flat leafy kale, not the curly kind.
You can also make them in the microwave.(see video)

I can't get the flat kale this time of year and the curly kale is terrible for this sort of thing.0 -

OK, I may just give them one more try like this.0 -
Love them. I use my dehydrator and it makes them quickly and perfectly every time. I like to use evoo, lemon and/or za'atar.0
-
They are tasty but easy to overcook. I use pam olive oil spray to make it even easier.0
-
I have a dehydrator, what temp and how long?0
-
WoW! never thought of doing this. What a great idea! will pick some up and try it out on my next shopping trip. Thanx0
-
Barf. I made them and threw them right in the garbage. They also stink, but everyones taste buds are different0
-
depends how you make it.. i've made some batches that made it right into the garbage and some that didn't last an hour between me my boyfriend and my 2 yr old son ( who by the way will NOT eat any veggies but since these are like chips he will eat handfuls of them) you really have to watch them and cook them on a low temp. i use a little olive oil on them in a zip lock and shake it with some garlic salt and a little goes a long way in these.. bake on 300 for about 10 mins but you have to stir them and make sure they don't start to brown0
-
I think they are good, but they are more trouble than they are worth for the amount of finished product you get0
-
I LOVE kale chips! I can eat a whole bunch of kale by myself, easily.0
-
I like putting some low salt soy sauce in a sprayer and misting the chips before drying them.0
-
Don't they sell those at the Krusty Crab?0

I made them once and they were horrible! Worse than the taste even was the smell...my house stunk for 3 days! Omg...I can smell it now...  :sick:0

I had a bad experience with Kale chips. Although I liked the flavor and the flavoring I made to enhance the taste I will not be making these again. I found that when I chewed the pieces of the kale broke apart would scratch my throat while going down. This caused my throat to be sore for days and cause further irritation when I ate other foods. Ohhhhhhh the burning is still with me. I wish I had I different outcome.0

I have these in the oven right now and I'm so excited because I've never made kale chips before. But anyways this post is all about the SAUCE. It is delicious and even if you do not make the chips, make the sauce its really good. It would be perfect tossed with pasta. It reminds me of red pepper Alfredo.
IMPORTANT-It called for a jalapeno and Serrano pepper and I did not have these so I used red peppers and I roasted them myself. Also I only added 2 sqirts oil0 -

I made them once and liked them a lot, but my husband and two kids didn't care for them. So I probably won't make them again any time soon. I don't have time to make food just for myself on a regular basis. I might make them like twice a year.0

I think God/nature/the great pumpkin must have a very sick sense of humor to make something so nutritious taste so awful. I'll take my chances with a spinach and goat cheese salad . . .with bacon TYVM.0 -
i love making kale chips that have been seasoned in parmesan cheese and taco seasoning0
-
I do mine in a dehydrator and they are much tastier I think than in the oven. They get a nicer, more even crispy texture and the lower heat I think is probably better for keeping them from getting bitter and also for retaining the most nutrients. Takes about 45 minutes or so in a dehydrator and they are fantastic.0

I'm sorry, but I don't think narrow minded sexy shirtless bullies with no class or morals were invited to this discussion.
Flower please:)0
