What do you say to yourself during a hard workout?

"You're not gonna die from doing x more reps of y, so move it."
That and the fact that as a teenager I could do 50 hand stand push ups straight. You better believe I'm aiming to better that. First, however, it might help if I can hold a wall handstand for more than 20 seconds
Oh and doing intervals... "It's one freaking minute. Move it" okay, so that's just a slight variation on the first... you get the picture0 -
I've just gotten into jogging again and have actually progressed to where I can jog on the treadmill at about a 12 minute mile pace for almost 1/2 an hour...once I hit about halfway, I start telling myself that if I could make it through 12 hours of back labor and push out an 8.5 pound baby, I can do anything for another measly 15 minutes:laugh:0

A little embarrassed to admit this, but as I'm trudging my *kitten* up a hill and actually make it, I'm thinking, "POWERHOUSE!"!!! Not complete sentances, but I AM a powerhouse even at 1 mph (or whatever it is)0
-
I cant believe I forgot my number one mantra!... You're here, might as well "Go hard or go home!" you ain't going home so GO HARDER!
lots of harder just repeated and Yep still breathing, Irish showing (red face).. NOW HARDER (name)!!!
number 2; Come on, your body was made for this!!
( It helps that I just finished a crazy *kitten* workout and was paying attention to my self talk thanks to this thread.)0 -
"Keep going, Vodka is calling you" or "I'm glad I bought that giant bottle of ibuprofen at CostCo"0
-
'keep going to the next ..... post/tree/street/rock'0
-
on my last set..I always say, "you got this, one more, you got this, you can do it."0
-
finish it-0

Nothing cause I cant breathe let alone inner monologue.0

A lot of times I catch myself counting..when I'm walking, jogging, or cycling. Or listening to music...when its getting hard...I just look at the machine or barbell or whatever is making it rough with my B*tch face and think..I got this! I'm going to finish! I always do...sometimes my weak left arm wants to give out and I give it a short 2 second or little more break and finish that set! I will not wimp out and not do the work. When I leave the gym it looks like I just jumped through the showers...but we have no showers...so I head home and jump in Other people that go to the gym are always amazed at the effort I put forth. My trainer loves bragging on me to the other patrons..how I'm one of the hardest working people there. How I will hit my goals because I don't give up.
My main thing..is not to focus on numbers right now...and that is hard when I am trying to lose 200 lbs. Although..I'm almost halfway there!0 -
I don't really think about it, I just do it.
Sometimes out of fear I say to myself "Ok, if I don't take another minute or two rest between this set, I might puke and pass out and embarrass myself."0 -
I order to myself ''hold that weight!'' then once is finished the rep or workout i say, ''easy'' loudly0
-
"You're not going to die here, so just finish it"0

Since today's run was recovery for leg lifting day yesterday and I didn't want to waste that workout, my mantra was "slow down, slow down, it's ok to walk the hills to keep the HR down, let the legs heal."0
-
"No pain, no gain"
"Just a little bit more"0 -
I listen to LMFAO so I can quietly mouth "I'm sexy and I know it" to motivate me to pull through the workout.
Or I sing along to Amazing by Hi fashion cuz we're all amazing!0 -
I have my tunes with me so hum or sing when I run (and no one else is around). Makes the miles go fast. I also guilt myself into going a little further than the last run ("you're weak if you can't go as far or farther than the last time you ran")! Good luck!0
-
a whole lot of ****s0
-
after this you can get pie!0
-
30 Day Shred - It's usually swearing and telling Jillian EXACTLY what I think of her!
Swimming - I clock watch and keep telling myself "just 10 more minutes"
Walking -I usually have "Smoke on the water" playing in my head. (I love to pretend my body is my own F1 car lol)0 -
I just run or workout, I don't need any self encouragement. Although sometimes when I lose focus I will take a step back and clear my head and get back into the proper mindset.0
-
"I'm going to die" "Come on, you can do this" "breathe, it's almost over"0
-
If I'm running, I tell my self just that tree or that letter box and then when I get there I think well that was easier then I though. I'll make it to that tree or that letterbox
Or if I time it to when the firefighters train at the exercise park, I just don't want to look bad so I run my butt off!0 -
I count, and when it get hard I get angry (either that cause it's hard or I find another reason) and then I grunt (not super loud) but yeah... I'm a grunter

If you stop now you're going to be seriously p1ssed off with yourself so don't be such a f@cking p*ssy and LIFT IT.0
-
30 seconds more 30 secondsmore 30 seconds more 30 seconds more
works everytime0 -
Focus - you can do this!!0
-
"The sooner you finish, the sooner you get to eat." I say that to myself during every workout. And pretty much when I'm doing anything.0
-
COME ON!!!!
People in the gym think I'm crazy but I'm making progress everyday!!!!0 -
FASTER - music helps and another cyclist ahead even more since I have a hard time not chasing a rabbit.
I just recently started trying to get myself in shape but in my younger days when I ran, having a rabbit to chase was the best motivator for me.0
