When to delete inactive friends...

I usually wait 30 days, but there are some that seem to come back eventually, and I would hate to delete them, just to have to beg them to accept my FR again later. So there are several I hold on to for much longer.0

I give them around 30 days...0

I never delete friends. I never know when they might decide to come back And I will be a familiar face for them.0

Why delete them at all? If they are inactive they are not clogging up your news feeds or anything? Maybe they fell off the wagon and then when they come back they will be bummed find they have no friends for support again. A lot deleted me as well when I was inactive for a few months.
The reason I would, is simply because it is not just the lack of action in the news feed. It is the fact that someone reached out to you and sent you a FR asking for support. But by not logging in, contributing, participating, going so far as to hit a like button from time to time, they aren't returning the investment which is my time and energy. It takes a little bit to check up on folks, craft a PM or wall post, check on their diary if it's open; all of this while getting no interaction.
The simple fact that they sent me a request though is enough for me to give every effort in helping those that asked for help. But no interaction equates to a lopsided relationship; digital though it might be.0 -

Actually one of my MPRers was told she couldn't add any more friends because she was at her limit (didn't even know there was a limit). So by deleting inactive people, you're making room for those that are active. With that said, I used to delete after about 30 days, but after the massacre at a mall in Kenya and one of my freshly deleted "friends" lived in Kenya, I had no way of knowing if she was ok, so now I check every few months or so. Also one of my MFPers is pregnant, so I'm giving her a little leeway on the whole logging in.0 -
I go on vacation camping for 8 days every year and don't log or log in since I don't have a smart phone.
So, if I get deleted for having a life, so be it....more of me for everyone else!! :bigsmile:0 -
every decision is different. some of my friends could go away for 6 months and i wouldn't delete them. some could go away for 2 weeks and i might. inactivity isn't really an issue. real life intervenes and even though this site can be addicting (believe me, i know), sometimes you have to pull yourself away and deal with real life for a while. so if that's what somebody is doing, it would seem pretty douchey to me to delete them while they are gone just because they didn't come back to say "hi" on my wall twice a month.0

unfortunately, despite my earlier comment I can't help but share the sentiment. I haven't been able to bring myself to delete anyone, but it is still frustrating nonetheless.0 -

Truth....feel the same way.

I wait 1 month then bye bye
^^This... if they haven't been around for a month, then they probably aren't coming back anytime soon.0 -
I give them 3-4 weeks0
-
Generally a month.0
-
Usually a month, less if there account was new and they just quit fast. Depends on their posts, effort in their information about them and how many friends they have to show how valuable there account is to them.0

My wife is sitting at 5 months inactive...when can I delete her?0
-
Any time you feel like moving into the doghouse? :-) lol0
-
Usually clean my friends list once a month. Friends who haven't logged in for 25 - 30 are usually removed. I'm not here to collect friends, much less have a list of people not logging in.0
-
Depends...a newish member, I don't cut 'em much slack and it'll just depend on my mood...I might cut 'em lose after a couple of days of nothing, but I'm not really vested either. If it's a long standing member and someone who's been on my FL for a long time, I will give them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they're just on vacation or taking a break or maybe they just have a bunch of **** going on...I'll generally give them a month or so. After 30 days I figure whomever it is is gone.0
-
I think it depends how you got on before they went AWOL and whether you'd happily be there for them if/when they come back. If you've never really found a bond it's a great way to clear them out without conscience.0

When you're sick of breathing?0 -
I don't care enough to delete anyone.0
-
I've been friends with most of my FL for years, so I wouldn't delete them for being inactive.
I'd delete them for wearing Mom Jeans or Uggs during the summer.0 -
When they refuse to show me their butt.0
-
I don't delete online or real life friends0

i believe this is already covered as a corollary of the "it's ok to delete a friend who wears crocs" rule.0 -
It says in my profile 5 days, but if I've been friends with them awhile and hear from them a lot, NEVER!:flowerforyou:0
-
I'd only delete for inactivity if I needed to make room on my list for new people. I've had people come back after many months away. I'm also pretty lazy and it sounds like a lot of work to keep up with how frequently my FL is logging in and then checking to see if they announced it in advance if they're not.0
-
then they never were really your friends to start with..... USE MUCH!!! :grumble:0
-
14 Days unless i know them personally0
-
I give it a month usually. Unless I have had a good amount of contact with them before, then I keep holding on in pathetic hope that they will return
This reply goes for me too!!0
