  • Hi, I'm PC or Victoria it's nice to meet y'all! I'm a 25 year old project management/estimating assistant in the construction business (aka desk job LOL!). I have a wonderful husband and together we have a farm with 3 horses, 4 dogs, 2 cats and 16 chickens. I initially started at 286lbs last year when I went to my gynecologist (June 2013). As of this morning I'm at 257lbs. I want to end up around 175lbs.

I'm joining in to this although I'm not quite at the need to lose 100lbs anymore. Which is great, but I'm still bummed that I'm not where I had hopes to be last year. Especially since I KNOW where I could be right now. When you have 100lbs you want to lose, sometimes even though 29lbs sounds like a lot, it feels like a drop in the bucket.

Last year I had done the medically supervised weight loss diet and started doing Crossfit once I couldn't stand the diet anymore. I didn't want to fall off the Crossfit wagon but I work a full-time job and go to school at night and I could no longer work my class schedule around Crossfit class times. I really miss it, but it's just not in the cards. Since stopping Crossfit I've gotten off the exercise wagon too and I'm finding that's really hard to get back on, especially in the summer in the Florida heat!

So this is my push to get back on the wagon. I'm pushing myself to graduate next summer (full-time job and going to school full-time) and I would love to be in onederland when I do that. With my schedule that means gym time will be limited and not being home very often. Which turns in to eating out and eating on the go a lot. I am going to try to hit the gym at least 3-4 days a week, doing strength training 3 days a week and filling in cardio as I have time. I did run 3 5K's last year, this year I'd love to do some more.

I've discovered when it comes to eating I'm just not the type who can cut things out completely nor can I do the 5-6 meals a day. When I'm exhausted (which is nearly always) my will power just sucks. At home I can limit the temptations and for the most part I do. If we have sweets it's something you have to actually cook versus snacking on ready-made stuff. When you're constantly on the go, it's much harder with all the choices. Though I try to stick to healthier choices (Chipotle, Panera, etc) even then there's some seriously hidden calories I've found. So this time around I'm going to focus on moderating my intake and eating only when hungry and only eating til the hunger is gone versus eating til full. Try to make healthier choices, but not beat myself up for eating something considered "bad". I'm going to try to track my food as often as I can. Luckily I've already cut sodas out since last year. I still have one here or there, but I primarily drink plain water (with the occasional ICE thrown in!) and usually at least 10 or more glasses per day.

Reading a lot of the responses on this thread has been motivating and looking forward to continuing my journey with y'all!

Job update: Last week I received a phone call from the Director of Sp. Ed. asking if I would be interested in doing some 1:1 work for one of our students who is having a lot of issues at the moment. Yesterday I received a follow up call from her to let me know she was still waiting to hear about what decision was made for this student. She did give me the heads up that a principal from another school may be giving me a call to work with a 6 yr old who is also having behavioral issues. I find it ironic that all year I heard nothing but now that we are approaching the end of the school year I am receiving calls for additional work. It's a good feeling. I also received my official notice in the mail yesterday that I have been board approved for the 2 positions for the summer. WAHOO!

Garden update: My veggie garden is doing well. I went out before and noticed my cucumbers, beans and greens are starting to pop. All the rest of my plants in my veggie and herb gardens are doing great. We are having a few days of rain but warm temps which is perfect for my gardens. I finished off my back flower bed cutting back the ivy, weeding and getting my begonias in. I have 1 more bed that is the length of my property to weed and plant in. I am hoping to get that accomplished this weekend then I can just move on to general maintenance of everything. It's a lot of work but completely worth it.

    Kaye - Happy Birthday!

    Welcome to all the newbies!

Kah - LOL to Zoe's new game. That sounds really adorable to watch even if it is keeping you up all night.

Robin - Count me in for miles in June. I think it would be great to challenge myself to get in 100 or more miles. I do not track my sugar so I will not participate in that challenge. For me, the only sugar I use is my 3 teaspoons in my coffee every morning. Occasionally I will have a glass of wine or an occasional treat. (I ate some Nutella yesterday, right out of the jar, for a post dinner snack :blushing:) The rest of my sugar intake comes from fruits and vegetables. If I track my sugar on MFP it always has me in the red due to the amount of fruits and veggies I consume. Being a vegetarian it is too difficult for me to reduce my intake on these.

I think that is great that you are thinking of getting a part-time job. Though I have to say I was a little put off and offended when reading what your friend said to you. :ohwell: I am sure she meant it from a kind place. However, being that I work with children with developmental disabilities I am extremely sensitive to comments such as those. I understand what she meant about saying people would have difficulty understanding you. However there are plenty of people in the world with developmental disabilities that are very successful in their jobs despite their disabilities. Please do not let your friend's comment deter you from doing what you want to do. You can accomplish anything you set your mind to as long as you believe in yourself!

Tayna - Congrats!!! I am so happy for you. :flowerforyou:

Victoria - I admire you for trying to lose weight while going to school and working full-time. I worked 2 jobs; one full time and one part time while going to grad school in the evenings. I was so strapped for time that I had zero time to focus on my health. I wish you the best of luck and much success with your professional journey as well as your health journey!

    My Miles:
    5/1 - 3.41 miles
    5/2 - 3.74 miles
    5/3 - 6.92 miles
    5/4 - 2.13 miles
    5/5 - 4.73 miles
    5/6 - 5.64 miles
    5/7 - 4.39 miles
    5/8 - 3.28 miles
    5/9 - 2.91 miles
    5/10 - 4.53 miles
    5/11 - 4.47 miles
    5/12 - 4.08 miles
    5/13 - 3.1 miles
    5/14 -2.23 miles
    5/15 - 2.11 miles
    5/16 - 1.42 miles (laziest day ever!)
    5/17 - 3.24 miles
    5/18 - 7.37 miles
5/19 - .79 miles (Fitbit died, should be more)
5/20 - 2.54 miles (Fitbit charging, should be more)
    5/21 - 3.37 miles
    5/22 - 2.2 miles
    Total: 78.6

    Kaye - Happy belated birthday!

Robin - Wowza, my heart really goes out to you. You've been put through the ringer lately!! We're all here thinking of you and sending tons of positive energy your way.

    Welcome to the newlings!!

I'm in for a walking challenge next month. I'll have to be walking Gidget daily so I might as well wear the pedometer and get credit for it!!

She arrives in 7.5 hours. I can't WAIT. I'm SO excited. I've been crocheting, sewing, and shopping up a storm for the little princess~

Hey Folks! My week is craziness and it isn't going to end till the kids are out of school for the summer! :noway: I'm so tired and have too much to do to sleep. I signed myself up for the local fun run/walk this Sunday. Yes, I know I haven't started training, but I know I can walk 5km and I'm taking the kids as company. It's an experiment to see if I really want to take my exercise in that direction. My husband is a volunteer at the event... so everyone will be there.

I got my garden in this week. I put in beans, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, turnips, beets, cucumbers, spaghetti squash, tomatoes, and peppers. I have the corn in starter trays. I'll get the asparagus in this weekend. I didn't realize that I had to soak them first. oops! I put a few flower planters up, but the rest can wait a couple weeks. The prices in the stores are still really high, for the # I want.

    Happy Birthday Kaye!!!
Robin, your friend is not very supportive. I think it's great that you're thinking about getting out there. Be careful not to let what others say bring your mood down. It can be hard to bounce back from comment like that. hugz!

Gotta go! I'll update my mileage on the weekend.

I took today off of work to expand the holiday weekend, worked with my trainer most of the morning on a budget and financial forecasts for his studio. Now waiting for a call back from the doctor--I injured my thumb working out last night , the swelling/bruising is worsening and the pain is starting to move into my hand, so my trainer and i decided I better have it x-rayed. We don't think there is a break, think its more ligament damage but better to be safe than sorry.

@Nettie~Hooray on your jobs for the summer becoming official and working 1:1 with some additional students.

    @Kris~Enjoy the puppy.

    Welcome to the newlings.

Just a quick check in. I stumbled across a 5k tomorrow at Zoo Miami and I couldn't resist so I signed up with Chelsea! How could walking a 5k at the zoo not be AWESOME?!?!

@Nettie - congrats on your job opportunities!

@Robin - so sorry to hear you are still having such problems with your mouth.

@Kelley - I hope your thumb isn't anything too serious. There is nothing worse than a hand injury. Well, I guess there is but a hand injury just seems to compound day-to-day tasks.

@Aunt Kaye  - I hope you had a happy, happy Birthday! (See I told you that you were too young to be my grandma, you are younger than my mom!!)

Well, wish I had time for more personals but 5:00am is going to come mighty early!

Until next time; wishing everyone peace, love and weight loss!
    And...
Don't sweat the small stuff, just SWEAT!!

Kaye- Glad you had a wonderful birthday.

Tanya- Congrats on the loss, you are doing awesome.

Victoria- Welcome, your life is very busy with work and school at the same time. It can be done. Have you considered packing your lunch and several healthy snacks for the day. You can pack a small cooler, which would cut down on how much you eat out.

Nettie- It always seem that jobs in the school system open up at the end of the year. It appears that the administration has noticed your success in the classroom this year. Good luck.

Mow-Mow- Yeah, for getting your dog. She will be the best dressed dog in the area.

Kelley- Sorry to hear about your thumb- I hope it heals quickly and it is not broken.

Karen L- Hope the rain stopped and you could for a walk. I walked last night after a storm and it was beautiful.

Robin B- Congratulations on signing up for the 5K run/walk. Have fun at the zoo. You will rock it.

Reminders- This the last weekend of our June Challenge so make the most of it. So many people are closing in on meeting their goals and surpassing them. Keep up the good work.

Remember to update your miles throughout the weekend if possible or by Tuesday.

Nettie you are 1.4 miles from your goal!!
    Aimee- 8.1 miles to go
Kelley you are 16.52 miles from your goal.

Many of you are very close to your goals within 20 miles so it is very doable for the last few days.

Good evening, I had a very windy walk with Cathy and DH tonight. Nicole was doing a night fun run tonight. There is something about starting a walk at 9:30 that didn't appeal to me. My walk today was 3.88 miles. I'm definitely in for next month. I think that I will stick with 100 miles because we have some traveling scheduled for June and it may be harder for me to get in long walks.
RobinB, I'll take the aunt. LOL
Pixy, sorry your children are being difficult right now. I'm afraid it goes with the territory sometimes, but it is so worth the effort.
Nicole was really happy today. She is the middle school librarian and an English teacher. She teaches 3 classes, mentors the Jr. Honor Society, and oversees the AR reading program in addition to her library duties. Today she had her end of year evaluation interview with her principal. She got top marks in at least one part of every area. In addition to that, the school showed huge improvement overall in their AR goals. She is already thinking of ways to make it even better next year. I'm really happy for her. She works very hard and really loves the kids.
Have a great weekend. Onward and downward. Kaye

KAYE - that is quite a compliment for Nicole. She should be pleased, especially that the school overall showed improvement. Such an honor!.

LAURIE - thanks for watching out for the roll-over. I can take care of it from here. Or did you want to do the lead in so you could put in the specifics for the June Challenge?

Hugs, I'll stay on so let me know what you wish to do.

@kris--congrats on getting your new pup--how exciting!

@robinB--that zoo walk sounds like fun.

@robin & laurie--I'm definitely in for the June mileage challenge. I haven't done so great this month.Too many meetings, too much grading, too many social activities on the weekend--basically too many excuses. :blushing:

@kelley--sorry to hear about your thumb injury--hope the news from the doc is good.

    Friday Fitness:
I definitely have not gotten enough exercise this month. Overall, I've been able to walk gunner most days, but I think I've only run once in the past 2 weeks & and I seem to have forgotten how to get to the gym. My plan is to find my way back this weekend. However, I have a double bachelorette party in the city tomorrow, and I have to take gunner for his annual check-up beforehand. Looks like Sunday.and Monday will be my days to work out.

Today was the last day of class for my seniors. They are the best group I've ever had, so a very bittersweet day. It didn't help that so many brought me cards and gifts, and were asking for hugs as they were leaving my room. Yes, these are 18 year old teenagers asking "Can I give you a hug?" :noway: Trust me, this is NOT the norm--most years they've already forgotten my name before they are halfway out the door, but this was just an exceptional senior class. I swear, I came really close to crying quite a few times throughout the day and am sad right now as I type this.

    Grading Goals:
    1.4/52 Junior research papers
    2. 8/52 poetry journals

    Exercise goals:
    Mon--walking in city DONE
Tues--walk gunner + gym RAN OUTSIDE INSTEAD
    Wed--walk gunner NOT DONE
Thurs--walk gunner DONE + gym NOT DONE
    Fri--rest day WALKED GUNNER
    Sat--walk gunner
    Sun--walk gunner + gym

    Goal Mileage: 80 Miles
    5/19 = 3 miles
    5/20= 3 miles
    5/21= 0 miles
    5/22= 2 miles
    5/23= 1.5 miles

Friday Fitness: Definitely no fitness here, but I’m really going to start back this weekend. I actually really do miss it and the feeling of getting stronger. The weekend is going to be gorgeous, but hitting the 100’s. I may need to hit the gym instead, but that’s OK too. I thought about swimming some laps, but getting the gray out tomorrow so no chlorine for me.

Cyrus started with a pitching coach tonight. He’s always struggled with his size and everyone just assumes sports comes naturally, but it really doesn’t. He loves to play, but has to really work at it. I really enjoyed watching his lesson and the coach agreed he just hasn’t grown into his big body yet, but he did see the potential. I just want Cyrus to have fun, work hard, and get some exercise too.

@ Tom – Yum! Pizza Rock looks really good. Love good brick oven pizza plus from a 11-time WORLD Champion. Nice.

@ Ushkii – It can be tough, but I can’t use that as an excuse either. This is my life and I love my job, but I really have to control myself.

@ KarenL – Yard work was never my favorite. In Atlanta, I had a 1/2 acre lot and still had a yard boy. In Vegas, I’ve got this little patch of grass and then all desert landscape so no yard work for me. Woo Hoo!

@ Laurie – At least you’ve been exercising. I’ve been eating the crap too and NO exercise. Mine is totally stress related though. Of course, TOM is just around the corner so I may blame that too. I’ve got to get groceries and fill my house with healthy stuff, which is also part of the problem. No good choices and I scramble finding poor choices.

@ Karen – LOL!!! Yes, I saw it for myself. We were going to share our desserts and before I knew it that chocolate flourless was gone. Plus, we both downed our bubbling drinks so I can’t say too much. Glad you had a good dinner, but I know you will not be doing that again anytime soon. I know today was bittersweet, but your students are so fortunate to have such a dedicated teacher. Enjoy your summer, which is very well deserved.

@ Robin – I just hate that you’ve been battling for so long. I can’t even fathom what you’ve been going through this past year. I know you share it with us, but I just hate this for you. As far as being a hostess, Karen did take us on the scenic route (aka almost lost, but she got us there) to a very nice restaurant/brewery where we sat outside and enjoyed a yummy lunch. We just figured she was trying to increase our steps for the day. LOL!!!

@ Tanya – Soooo close!! I’m so proud of you and cannot wait to celebrate your journey into Onederland!!

@ Shadow – I get no walking, but sitting in front of a computer ALL day. I have to make myself get up and move. Thoughts to your DH and he gets the answers he needs. Also, sorry for the struggles with the boys. My son is starting to push some boundaries as well. It’s so hard to find that right balance.

@ L2T – Everyone loves having the day off, but unfortunately a lot of those same people don’t use that time to celebrate the real reason for the holiday. My dad fought in Vietnam and while he doesn’t talk much about it I’ve always made the effort to thank him. I was actually a celebration baby upon his return. I was born almost to the day of his return to the states.

@ Nettie – I guess when it rains it pours. Hopefully, some of these additional jobs will lead to full-time in the fall, which I know is your ultimate goal.

@ Kelly – I’m so glad you took the day off. With the conversion and your crazy schedule lately, you definitely deserve an extra long weekend. Good for you!! I’m so glad you’re getting to stay with your trainer. I know how much you’ve enjoyed working with him and now you can continue, which is awesome!

Off in a few for long walk on the greenway with a friend and our dogs. I love the greenway early in the morning. It's like a walk in the country in the middle of the city. I hear we're going to do a mileage challenge again next month. I need to figure out a more doable number of miles including accounting for rest days instead of throwing out a number off the top of my head like I did for May. Yes, setting my goal at 100 has pushed me to do more, but it's also true it's stressed me out. My ankle has been sore all week and I just keep going because I'm incapable of quitting when I commit to doing something and I get competitive seeing the amazing mileage you all are reporting. Sigh, more personal flaws to work through. You'd think at age 56 I'd have done so already.

Have a great weekend and send up your thanks and prayers for all who have and are serving our country so we can live free.

    Good morning all.

Karen-“Today was the last day of class for my seniors. They are the best group I've ever had” Here is to hoping you get to say that again next year!

Kelley- Best wishes for that thumb healing quickly.

Susan- I am going to try and get a trip to Pizza Rock today, so I’ll let you know what we thought of the place.

WOW! Look at those stats! Y'all are kickin some serious tushy! Way to go :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:

Here I am- Skipping in and out... I am sure that burns calories  I had a pretty rough and busy week- so didn't do so hot with logging BUT I didn't skip my trainer sessions (I wanted to) and I kept it mostly healthy (except the day when the vending machine chased me down and begged me to purchase salty and sugary snacks :ohwell: ).

My success this week - I got a well deserved and much needed massage. The gal that does my massages hadn't seen me in 9 months (I definitely noticed). She said that whatever my trainer was having me do was working- she said I was super toned up! Now if the gal who has me nekkid as a jaybird on her massage table notices something- I MUST be doing something right!

Kelley- seriously OUCH. You don't really notice how much you need your thumbs until one of them is hurt. Feel better soon.
