  • I've had that meme saved for the perfect occasion. This was it.

    well aren't you special then, if you're going to insult me at least make a worthy effort to offend me, thats the insulting equivalent of a sand flavored lollipop, both being quite useless, much like your thoughts on the matter so lets speed this up

    The scientific illiteracy I am seeing here shocks and disgusts me.

    this got way out of hand about 10 pages ago

    i admit i'm partly to blame for this (actually very large part) but its what happens when an unstoppable force meets an unmoveable object

    I wasn't talking about you. Arguing on the Internet is not shocking or disgusting . . . it just "is". John Gabriel's greater internet f-was theorem.

    But why do you care? Really, why does it bother you so much that some people chose to not eat breads, pastas, etc.? It's not as if those items are really all that necessary. And if they chose to buy, say, a GL loaf of bread, it's not really all that different than another person choosing Ms. Baird's over Hill County Fair (or whatever they're called) for one reason or another.

    I can't think of a single reason to care other than a general interest in the subject matter and for the sake of discussion.

    i have dealt with these people (sometimes often) and i can tell you (and i speak only for myself with some articles that i have posted to support my claims) is that its all a fad, a trend and a lie, and it makes for some very unbearable people (even more unbearable than me) the way they act in restaurants and having to deal with them and how they interact with service workers and how they react when they don't get their way (yes they will *kitten* a brick if they don't get their way) it makes me have a very low opinion of them

    there are some people who must avoid gluten and thats fine, on the other hands its becoming a hipsterish trend with many of them not even knowing what gluten is in the first place and in the end you have an entire subculture of *kitten* who feel special over something that isn't real

    its just annoying to watch, to me this is the culinary equivalent of justin bieber and the kardashians all rolled into one, just a cultural phenomenon that gives people reason to feel special and at many times at the expense of others

    The people you are describing are probably the same people who would go out and hassle wait staff no matter what diet/trend/lifestyle they're following.

    The scientist cared because he wanted further support for his initial conclusions. His follow up study had surprising and scientifically interesting results, and science was served because he happily published a paper that undermined his initial hypothesis. How freaking amazing is that?? That is awesome.

    i got nothing, and i know i'm not exactly the good guy but i think we got off topic by a mile

    that and a trail of "offended' people who only act offended because they either disagree with what i have to say or they are just to "PC"

    A wise man once said, when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging and for god's sake don't poop.

    i'm in no hole, being in a hole would mean regretting what i believe and how i feel about it, i just regret that the lot of these people hate to see certain things questioned, especially when they are increasingly being proven to be wrong about it

    I was referring to your comment about not being the good guy and being off topic. I think where you're digging is in that you have created a class of person which you are very antagonistic toward, but are not specifically engaging individuals. You are describing loathsome behavior and trashing people who display it, but are conflating the behavior with people who believe they have gluten sensitivity. It's just not an effective way to communicate. The class you're upset about, as near as I can tell, are *kitten*. A subset of *kitten* believe themselves gluten sensitive. Still yet other subsets are engaged in other assholery.

    Also, hi vjohns :blush::
