I think what the OP was trying to say was.. just the fact that she KNOWS whats in milk now makes it a turn off... I myself have stopped drinking dairy milk except in my cereal... and thats maybe once a month.. I do eat cheese and yogurt and other dairy products but I only drink soy milk now..why?? just because I enjoy the taste, it has less fat and more calcium... to each their own..

    Well said!

We are unique in our capacity to knowingly care about something beyond ourselves.

As far as we know. Possibly not, though. Dolphins have been known to save human beings from shark attacks. For all we know, they do it consciously and for species preservation reasons. How do they know there are billions of us buggers on land?
Or maybe human proportions and (from their view) clumsiness in the water trigger their "aww wookit the widdew baby" nurturing instincts.
LOL, quite possibly but that very tendency for apparent altruistic behavior seems to strongly associate with species who also show highly structured social systems, potential self awareness and some scientists have even gone so far as to say language and culture.

Oh nice one. Shhh, I get seasick at the mere sight of an ocean wave, don't tempt me to go join Greenpeace, not if you value their work.

Guess I shouldn't tell the OP about the parasites who live on her body, eating the scunge off her eyes. Or the parasites in her bedding who live off her dead skin cells?

Does anyone have a glass of milk? My throat is dry......

Save your breath because I already know...thanx

Not all farms are the same. Many farms do abuse the animals. I'm a human that does not understand why other humans find it fun to inflict pain on other beings that are smaller than them (or more defenseless).

It still goes on far too much. I do understand that according to the research humans have become less violent over time.

I usually spend my first week in the field on Dramamine, luckily it doesn't make me sleepy. I had a colleauge who used it once during a diving vacation. The dive master found her taking a nap on the bottom, she had literally just lain down and gone to sleep. My biggest booboo was taking antihistamines because I only had a week on Catalina to get my collecting done. I came up from a dive and the entire horizon was tilted 45 degrees before it settled back down to level a minute later. :noway:

I don't drink milk anymore. I switched to an almond/coconut milk blend by Breeze. I get the sweetened and may eventually switch to the unsweetened. If you ever want to know why it has pus in it, go to youtube and watch a video on a dairy farm that got busted for animal abuse, it is why I went vegetarian 4 years ago, man is the most heartless animal on earth and I choose not to be a part of that. I will never look down on anyone who decides to eat meat, I just can't do it anymore personally.

Interesting statement. I would say that man is the LEAST heartless animal in the world. Do you think the cheetah cares about the suffering of the zebra as it eats the intestines first while the zebra is still alive? Do you think the beaver cares about replacing the trees it cuts down? Do you think an alligator tries to give another injured gator a helping hand? Nah, he'll probably just eat him in fact. Survival of the fittest, you do what you have to.

All life on the planet cares about survival and reproduction, period. They will do whatever it takes to survive, including abandoning deformed offspring (or for no apparent reason at all) or killing the children of its new mates so that it can further its own bloodline instead. Nature is endlessly cruel, humans are cruel too but we are at the furthest possible end of the spectrum. What animal cares more about sustainable farming, hunting, resources, the environment in general or the suffering of our fellow humans (and other animals)? None.

What other animal kills endangered species to the brink of extinction by hunting them just for money? That's not survival. That's just greed. At least other animals kill for survival, as we did long ago. We no longer need meat to survive. If humans were not on this planet, it would be a much better place.
A better place by what criteria? And for how long?

And if humans are the most heartless, then why are we the only species that actually debates how we should or should not treat other species?

Has seen a cat play with a mouse. Therefore, agrees. For heartless, felines win. I have no doubt they are amoral creatures who will kill anything that moves. But they also win for cuteness.

I can get behind this. Cats are basically adorable demons. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

At 1st I was resistant in changing my dairy as I was raised on drinking cows milk.
But then I changed my dairy intake (for my dietary & medical needs) and tried sugar free almond milk, which I love because it does have that almond flavor to it (love those almonds)!
So...I guess then that you wouldn't want to know this about Jello....

. Guess I would like to know y'all thoughts on cows milk and what you all prefer.

My thoughts are that acceptable levels of pus in cows milk is a non issue.

My preference is skim cows milk.

Normally, I would mock this without mercy, but as I am currently working a job where I daily see, and have to clean up after people who refuse to throw trash in trash cans, or poop in toilets, I'm inclined to agree with you.

Humans are the only species on earth that drinks the milk of another mammal. We are also the only species that continues to drink milk after being weaned off of mother's milk.

OP: if you're from Europe, the Masai people in Africa or any other population that's been doing dairy farming or herding for millenia, then chances are you'll be fine drinking milk. If you're from a population that was a hunter-gatherer population until recently, e.g. Native Australian, then chances are milk will make you ill. There are some exceptions to this, because of interbreeding, natural variation and because biology just likes to just mess with people's minds by nearly always having exceptions, but generally speaking, whether you can digest lactose or not depends on your ethnic origin. There may be other medical conditions that make drinking milk inadvisable. So if you can digest milk, it won't harm you. And the immune complexes in it are there to protect the baby cow from any illness that it's mother's immune to, at least until it's bigger (passive immunity doesn't last long but it does protect baby mammals from infection in their younger, most vulnerable years)
Well this is interesting. I'm from Europe and I'd say about everyone drinks milk here. (Except veggie people.) Well in my country, belgium and espicially the netherlands people drink LOADS of milk. Almond milk and rice milk stuff are actually something more 'special' here i'd say. I mean, it's available in stores but it costs a ****load of money. I've dranke loads of milk as a kid, i loved it. And I'm fine :D You're not gonna die
By the way, i've tried coconut milk with rice and i enjoyed it, the taste is pretty good. :)

I grew up drinking lots of milk as a kid...you know what they say about strong bones? I have never broken a bone, and although most of my friends have had bone scans, I have not because my Doctor says I don't need one. I have never broken a bone in my life and there are no signs of weakness...I have to give some credit to the white stuff.

And for obvious reasons. And it nice to see the word "apparent" in there. An important distinction. But self awareness, language or culture are not necessary as dogs, for example, also produce apparent altruistic behavior without them.
