Yeah, I am also in agreement with both. Also, it is not correct that personality does not influence looks upon a first meeting. It influences a lot. The way a person moves, the way they look at people, eye contact, smiling, confidence yet not arrogant, warmth, even clothing choices, or what they are saying when you meet them, the way they look when they are alone and thinking, how playful they are, etc. A lot about a person's personality can show. We are influenced by that much more than people seem to be aware of (from when I read replies on posts like this). We are taking that in and forming an impression of who we think they are and whether we want to get to know more. We may be mistaken or we may be correct, or maybe a combination. A lot can be communicated through looks, eyes, body language, actions.

^I know - Being the master of all of the above.

I've run into a lot of guys who I wouldn't automatically think are Tom Hardy look-a-likes but once they talk and they have me rolling on the floor laughing, I could listen to them for hours with puppy dog eyes

On first attraction looks of course. How else do you get start. Wow that girls I think has a awesome personality. let me get to know her.

Later of for me to stay. I will say 60/40 splits personality/looks.

Word. I won't even consider a girl unless she dresses herself like a lady, catches every eye of the room she walks in - and for her to stick around longer than a week she has to have a catchy/cute personality.
attractive + cute personality + character + moral framework = FTW

Looks are every bit as important to me as personality. Not even sorry. Intelligence. Character. They're all important. I would say character is probably the most important because we can at least be friends if you're without one of the other 3 things. If you're a crappy human being, I don't even want to be friends.

    Neither, really.

Intelligence, a sharp and keen mind, is key for me.

At first looks, but personality is more important.
No one will notice your personality at first glance.

^This... this is the "initial" chemistry. But if you have a crappy personality after and are smoking hot.... see ya!

A helium atom walks into a bar and the bartender asks him, "Did you hookup with that hot hydrogen atom the other night?

"Nah, she turned out to be too unstable."

Women have to pretend to over analyze "looks" in order to not sound shallow. Just say it's important how hot he is and be done with it LOL. No need to say there are all these fake little signals a guy is sending out to you that you're pretending to pick up on when really you're just looking at him and deciding if he's good looking or not.

I'm not pretending anything. This is how I think about people being attracted not just to men, but women also. It's not to sound unshallow. What we take in also influences how we think they will be in bed. That was one of the top things I was thinking of when I wrote all of that.

And speaking for myself that also includes if we perceive that we will be treated with respect or not.

It also depends if you are someone looking for a one night stand or for a lasting relationship (with good sex, good company/conversation, and someone that shares the same life goals). If you knew anything about me, you would know I am being genuine.

My husband and I are attracted to one another, but this would not have lasted for 18 years and counting if we did not also have science and artistic interests in common.

An Oak Tree, and A Maple are standing in the forest. Another trees sprouts up in front of them. They proceed to argue with one another debating if the new tree is a new Oak or a Maple tree. They see a Woodpecker flying over head, and call him down to the branches to ask his opinion on the matter. He says to the trees, "I can settle this matter right away." He flies down to the sapling, and takes a taste. The woodpecker flies back up to land on the Oak Trees branch, and says, "Well boys that is not an Oak tree, or a Maple. That is the best piece of Ash I have ever had!"

the real answer to this is that everyone values both - the people (and I'm not saying anyone here individually) that are not attractive are gonna say personality, and the hotties are ganna say looks.

in real life for the majority of the case the hot people stick to hot people, and the ugly people stick to ugly people - there are a few outliers because of rich ppl, but I'd say from my observations of friends - especially of the crapton of marriages I've been to this past four years- my observation is dead on.

both are important and so are a 1000 other factors.

I can spend a lifetime enjoying a good personality. Looks only last for so long. They're nice to start out with, but without some intellect and personality to supplement them, they're pointless. I always tell people that for me, a good show of intellect is the difference between a one-night stand and a lifetime partner. If you can't back up your looks with some good conversation, then I'm not about to waste my time on you.
