July Cycling Challenge 2014

Welcome to another month of cycling! For anyone new to this thread, this is a very casual challenge. I should clarify, we take our cycling very seriously. I meant that the group is casual. There is no set of rules. We welcome anyone who wants to push a bike pedal. We have serious trailblazers. We have commuters. We have spinners. We have beginners who haven't been on a bike since childhood. We have Moms and Dads pulling trailers to the park, or making the agonizingly slow rides caused by an accompanying child (THAT would be ME!). Whoever you are and whatever your level, WELCOME!
You may post however you wish. Miles (is it wrong to say miles? I know that not everyone is in the USA)! Minutes! Cadence! Soreness! Number of bad words uttered when you hit bumps (That would be ME, again! I'm not generally a cusser, but bumps after a long ride do tend to bring it out in me :blushing: )! Whatever motivates you to push the pedal!

I do the same with my MTB. I actually put street tires on it a few months back and I've been wearing them out. I like having the option to hit the trails though.
285 miles last month
Even with a vacation later in a few weeks, I still intend to ride 300+ this month. Starting today!

Didn't quite make my intended 400 miles last month, life got in the way. I am away for a week this month so I'm going to drop my goal to 350 and see how I go.

July 2nd, 51 miles in 3:10 minutes and 3,050 calories burned. Goal is 600 miles for the month.0

My goal is to cycle into work every morning. I've been exceptionally lazy for awhile probably only cycled to work 50% of the time in June despite the great morning weather.
At 5.2 miles into work, and 22 work days, that's 114.4 miles.
Going home is a different story. My goal there is to ride home at least twice a week. Next month, I'm going to add extended rides somewhere... the weather being best in the morning, maybe I'll do some long rides in the morning.0 -

I think my commute home on lunch break today took me straight through the gates of hell :devil: MAN WAS IT HOT!!! When I drove back to work the external temps in my car read 101. :noway:
But it was not so bad that I shortcutted my ride home.

Beat my goal of 225 miles last month, with just over 239. Thus, I'll keep pushing and increase my goal a bit to 250.
Of course, I started the month by forgetting to charge my phone before my first ride yesterday, but it was at least 9.5 miles (probably a bit more), so will log that. My second ride (that evening) was 20.76 miles. So:

I won't join you this month but if you are going to do in August then I might just join you. Only just bought a bike (not ridden yet) and need to check out that I can actually ride a bike still as has been a really long time. Will only be a casual rider (weekends) so next month will see how I go. Good luck to everyone doing the challenge this month.0

I normally ride somewhere around 1,500- 2,000 miles a month but my goal will be to ride PBs in my local time trials.
I'm going to be at the first 3 days of the Tour de France this weekend so there's my inspiration right there!0 -
Very small scale here, my goal (not actually a small one for me at all!) would be to get in at least 10 hours on the exercise bike, does that count?0
