Women: How much does a guy's height really matter?

Height is something most of us have considerably less control over than, for example, weight; we're often told that judging a potential partner based on their weight is shallow.
So, how important is a guy's height?

I just like him taller than me, which isn't hard to do since I'm 5'3.0

Depends.
How much do you earn?0 -
At 5'8 (up to 6'2 in heels) I have to say, although I dated a few shorter guys, I always preferred taller guys - their height made me feel feminine and protected as hugging/kissing a shorter person can be a bit awkward.
My 'must have' list for a husband went something like this:
Kind
Generous
Funny
Smart
Good to his mother
Financially solvent
Over 6ft
Over 29yrs old
Blue eyes
Husband has green eyes and is 5'10.
He can always wear lifts and contacts (and would if I asked) but the being kind/generous/funny/good to his mum thing would be so much harder to remedy.
Most guys are the same height lying down anyway - so in the big scheme of things, height doesn't matter that much!0 -
Preferably he won't be noticeably shorter than me unless I'm wearing heels, but it's no deal breaker unless he has a Napoleon complex to go with it.0

I've dated guys my height or shorter. Being a tall woman (5' 9.5") with a preference for high heels, I'm ultimately attracted to taller men (over 6').0

I do tend to date taller guys. I married a guy that is 6'4". My four boyfriends before him were 6'4", 6'0", 5'8", and 6'1"... The 5'8" one was the only one below 6 ft that I ever dated... well, there was one 5'11" in there somewhere, but we didn't date long.. Regardless, the 5'8" didn't ever play a huge role in our relationship really at the time, but I think it did on his end. Not my problem. I am almost 5'6 3/4" lol. But like someone else said, I think it relates to making us feel more feminine and reaching the tall places without having to get a ladder. :laugh:0 -
it doesn't. [hubs is shorter than I am.]0

I'm 5 foot flat, so for me, a lot. If a guy is shorter than me...we've got problems. :laugh:0
-
It's not super important to me, but I prefer guys that are at least a little taller than me (I'm 5'8.)0
-
I've never really cared one way or the other, as long as he doesn't have the Short Guy complex, which really is unattractive.0
-
I like tall drinks of water. Cause I'm 5'1.0
-
I'm nearly six feet barefoot. Never in my life dated a man taller than me. Two exes were 7inches shorter than me. My current bf is about four inches shorter. It's never bothered me, but everyone has their own preferences.0
-
I married a guy who's 6' but I'm a terrible judge of height so it really matters little to me. I'm also 5'1" so everyone seems tall in my eyes.0

as long as he's taller than me then it doesnt matter. i'm 5'5. for some reason i end up dating guys who are significantly taller than me (like almost a foot taller). i dunno maybe very tall guys like short spitfire women .
i've done online dating a few times and the guys who lie about their height i end up not seeing again. saying that you're 5'10 or 5'11 when you're 5'7 makes me think that if a guy would lie about something that's so easily verified what's to stop him from lying about other less obvious things.
also, i always found the excuse that some women have about men needing to be taller than them when they wear heels to be curious. what if a guy said that about skin or hair color? for instance i like girls who have caramel complexion since they go well with my yellow shirts? or i dont date red heads because they clash with my blue shirts?0 -
Doesn't matter for me.0

It matters to me.0

i prefer taller than 6'0 but if they had an awesome personality and could make me smile i would consider them either way0
-
It matters. I'm an Amazon person though, so it sucks that it matters.0
-
I'm 5'7 and have dated men as short as 5'4 1/2. I like taller guys but it's really not important at all.0
-
My mom is 5'9 and my dad is barely 5'6. Height isn't a big deal to me either0
-
I would say it dosnt matter but it does really tall guys that have to look down at me to talk attracts me but they atleast have to be taller then me and im 5'5.0
-
I have dated men of all heights but I typically find men who are 6'-6'4" to be the most attractive. My boyfriend is 6'3" and he is the perfect height for me. We fit very well together.0

The only time it mattered to me when I was dating was when a guy would make a big deal out of it. My best friend was 5 inches shorter than me, and he always dated taller women. I dated someone 3 inches shorter than me, and I never really thought of his height when we met. But he complained about how short he was the whole time. It was annoying. The height didn't matter, but the whining did.
I married someone who is 5'10". He's taller than me flat footed and in most shoes, but we're either the same height or I'm taller when I wear heels. He's loaded with confidence and that matters most.0 -
I am a shade under 5'3", so most men are taller than I am. I have dated guys ranging from 5"4" to 6'3" and height never really made a difference to me.0
-
I like em tall!!! I am 5'2, so anything is tall to me!!!0
-
I'm 5'8.75". I'd easily date as short as 5'6" but would consider shorter in special circumstances. However I'm married to a man who is 5'9".0
-
I would have dated men that were any height as long as I liked their personality. Also I'm not so sure height matters as much to women as people think. Its all about attitude. My brother is only 5'4'' and he always had ladies lining up. He pretty much thinks he's god's gift to women and chicks love it, even when he went to Germany and most the girls were 4-5in taller than him...to be far he did not care if he was shorter than them either. I don't think all men are comfortable with that.
eta: I say would have cause I am now taken, not that I've changed my mind0 -
I'm 5'5, so I prefer a guy to be 5'8 and up.. I once dated a guys that was 5'6, had to wear flats because I didn't want him to feel uncomfortable.0
-
It matters for me. I am 5'4", my ex was 5'3". it did not bother me at start however he had "short men syndrome" and ever since then i watch out... so no more shorter than me men. (not hard since I'm not tall) and i also don't like tall guys.
I like men 5'6" - 6 feet range.0
