Why do i insist because i got my info from my doctor who is not only a practicing MD for the past 30 yrs but a holistic specialist and a certified nutritionist. If you can show me the same credentials i just might take your advice

 I didn't try and give you any advice. I just asked a question since your statement confused me.

(And stating that I can eat more than 1500 calories and lose weight isn't advice...it's just a statement about me...nothing more)
  • are you sure the 35lb loss isnt water weight? Wait a minute only you lose fat with everyone else its waterweight they lose right ? LOL
  • Not saying my doctor claims are etched in stone but what she told me was that unless you stick to a 1500 calorie diet going on the treadmill is a total waste of time the scale will never move and shes right

Oh dear...I drink 8oz of V8 every morning to kick start my potassium intake. I think I am safe though...its the low sodium kind.

    I am not a water weight hater...but...

I would like to drop some...my ankles were swollen tonight...I think it is the dang heat here in Texas that is causing it.
  • Fine then you consume your 3500 calories a day. If you can prove that you can take in that many and still lose a ton of weight then hey ill jump on the bandwagon but i think you are living in la la land It aint happening in this world

I'm pretty sure no one claimed to be eating 3500 calories. Most have just said more than 1500.

I don't know if treadmills are a waste of time but the sure are boring....IMO. I would rather walk in the great outdoors or hike. I get brain fog on a treadmill.
  • anyone can claim they lost this amount or that amount Get on a scale once a week and post the vid on youtube think you might get more believers than barking off outrageous totals that have no validity to them with the exception of your word vs the scale
  • Ill say this you go over your recommended calorie intake for the day and step on the tread for 25 to 30 min you wont gain weight but you certainly wont lose any

Your ranting is now confusing the hell out of me. If this is directed at me:

I have pics, posted here on MFP, of myself from before I got pregnant and the progress I made in 6 months. Heck my profile pic shows me pregnant and me 3 days later. I also don't have to prove anything to anyone. I know what I've done. You don't believe me, fine you can stick it where the sun don't shine.

What good would a youtube video do now? Honestly, I can't go back in time and film myself at 260lbs. Doesn't work that way. The most I could do is show you what I weigh now. But if I did that you wouldn't be satisfied, then you'd claim I never weighed 260lbs and that I'm lying about that. Your seem to genuinely be out to attack others and prove that your "right" & everyone else is "wrong".

Well...if I was going to lie I certainly would make up one better than the truth. I wouldn't claim to be 62...SW 246...CW 168. I'd come up with something a little more exciting.

If I was going to lie...I'd be claiming to be sexy and...HOT!

If any of you are gullible enough to believe that by consuming over 1500 calories per day and in excess of 3000 then you are as dumb as you look I wouldnt be surprised with that amt of calories if you havent gained at least 30 lbs by now

I've eaten over 1500 calories per day since November and I havent gained 30 lb - haven't gained anything, in fact.

ETA: sorry there are no YouTube pics of this.

50 year old woman eats over 1500 calories per day and does not gain weight !!!!!
    Amazing but true!!!

Or perhaps she has spent last 8 months faking her diary just to pretend this

I agree. If I was going to lie, it sure as hell wouldn't be about weighing 191lbs (give or take normal fluctuations)...I'd say I'm like 120lbs or so, since I'm only 5'4.

Okay OP...I will try and take you seriously...

There was a time that I ate way less than what I do now. As I lost weight however I became more active and quite honestly needed more food. I went from being fairly sedentary to fairly active over this past year...some days I hit the highly active category. I found that if I didn't eat more that I would get so hungry that I would binge. So I raised my calorie level to correspond to my activity.

I only have 15 to 25 pounds left to lose so if my weight loss slows down...I am okay with that. To be honest...for me at this point it is not as much about losing any more weight as it is about getting healthier and living a more active life style.

If you want to juice your way to your goals...that is your choice. It just isn't a choice that I would make. It is also a choice that would not agree with my digestive system...nor my taste buds. I like to cook...I like to eat...so....

    Good luck

I'm same age (54) as you OP and lose weight eating anything less than 2,500.

Juice fasting for an extended period is a hideously unbalanced diet.

One of my biggest drivers for losing weight was to be healthy now and into old age.
Just a thought - maybe you should prioritise health over fast weight loss?

Liquid diet is a good option, but it not works for all people. It is necessary to take some food with it. I think you shold also take some food with low calorie. It keeps you healthy as well as fit.

Juice fasting is very good for loosing weight, you were loose weight fast if you live on only juice to whole day, in these it is really nice to have weight loss by drinking juice of green vegetables and fruits, the health benefits are unproven with many health professionals. Vegetable juice will give nutrition to your body, well it is good option for weight loss but it not always work, some body needs solid food and cereals for generating energy and stamina in body.

Tell you what dude i will bet the ranch that if i lose 50 lbs in the next 55 days on the juice fast you will tell me its water weight that i lost

So... what are we cleansing again?

    Brain cells, apparently... :/

I def don't recommend doing a juice fast for a long period of time. These other ppl are kindly pointing out that it is non-sustainable nor will it aid in a permanent lifestyle change.

    I second this...

I have MFP set to lose .5lb/week, which puts me at 1410 per day without exercise. My goal is really maintenance though so I usually go over a bit. When I work out, I easily eat 1800 calories. I haven't gained weight (outside of the normal water/hormonal fluctuations) for the better part of year.

Just for comparison: I eat 2200 calories a day and I have lost an average of 1.5 lbs per week. I am a former Chef (so yes, I've studied nutrition) and a 1500 calorie diet is nowhere near "necessary" to make the scale move.

Reduce your caloric intake. Eat good food. Exercise. That is all it takes. It won't happen overnight, but it will happen and it will happen in a healthy way.

has no one else noticed that this guy is a 'competitive eater' yet does not know how he gained weight?

And now he is going on a juice fast for 2 weeks to lose weight, which he admits will only be water weight and that he will gain it back when he goes back to eating food.

He seems to have a real problem with extremes. And keeping his stories straight. Perhaps a visit to a therapist might be on order.

Oh, I noticed. I was discussing it with my husband last night. My husband thinks he might be a troll, since he seems to argue with everyone and pull crap out of thin air claiming others said it (example, he seems to think someone here eats 3500 calories a day....even though no one ever said they did)
