1 ) have you ever tried a dating site?

Yes, I was on Plenty of Fish for a couple years, met the love of my life on there almost 3 yrs ago. Still together.

    2) were you pleased?

With any dating site, you get the good with the bad. Gotta weed out the bad. Lucky I found someone good, but it took a while.

    3) would you tell someone to try one? I would, with lives that are busy and most of us spend too much time in front of the computer, where are we supposed to meet someone?

    4) any bad vibes?

    See # 2 answer

    5) any thing i shoud ask?

Make sure it's a real profile. You can usually tell fake pics. All of the dating sites have scammers in them, just be on the alert, they prey on the weak, and lonely.

    6) would you do it again?

    Hopefully I won't have to.

    7) what site(s) did you find most helpful

    8) which one(s) should we stay away from / why .

Yahoo used to have a Personals, glad it's gone. Lots of men on there falling in love with pictures, lots working overseas, so they say, and need you to get them out of the country. Be on the alert at all times. Once in a while you find a good man on there, that is real.

--Back then, the choices were fairly limited. Eharmony threw him out and never could find a likely match for me but a colleague and her husband met through it. We found each other on Yahoo Personals and I'm not even sure that exists anymore. Again, figure out what's important to you. For example, this atheist wouldn't touch Christian Mingle with a ten foot pole but it might be exactly right for you.

I agree completely. It's kind of like bars/clubs/hangouts...some will be right for you, others so so wrong ;-)

I used OkCupid back in 2009 and met my wife on there. I think it is a good way to meet people for sure.

I met my BF (definitely future husband in time) on OkCupid. I think OkCupid is the best since it's free, but not sketchy like, say, Craigslist. I wouldn't pay for a dating site, personally.

1 ) have you ever tried a dating site?
    yes

    2) were you pleased?
    yes

    3) would you tell someone to try one?
yes - in confidence to someone I trust and genuinely wanted to help. I don't want to make it a big joke.

    4) any bad vibes?
Yes creepy older men and a lot of people that didn't want relationships and were just doing it for a laugh (for hookups). You can tell these people pretty easily, jsut ignore them.

    5) any thing i shoud ask?
Just be yourself and make sure if you go ona date you meet somewhere public, you do not invite him to your house.

    6) would you do it again?
I met my fiance and we are getting married in October. I plan to spend the rest of my life with him so no I will never be on one again :)

    7) what site(s) did you find most helpful
Match.com - serious enough but not overly serious like eharmony or christianmingle.

    8) which one(s) should we stay away from / why
Tinder is a hook up app. Plenty of fish is free so it attracts people who are not serious and doing it for fun.

I know it's still "out there" to meet someone online and I don't share it with too many people because they judge. I would have never met my fiance without the site and I truly believe he is my soul mate. There is no harm in trying as long as you stay safe and make wise choices.

1 ) have you ever tried a dating site? Yes. I met my husband on OKCupid.

    2) were you pleased? Since I joined to take quizzes and not to date, yes. I joined the site in 2004 in college to take the quizzes and it was fun answering the questions. When I started using it seriously, it was after the end of an engagement and I was just looking for friends in the area (not dating). My husband was only one of two people I was willing to meet from on there.

    3) would you tell someone to try one? Yes. I suggested to several friends and my brother with mixed results. My best friend met her fiancé on OKCupid. My brother and one other friend had no success.

    4) any bad vibes? I only ever got one message that was completely uncalled for. Quite a few messages requesting a threesome, but I took those as a compliment.

    5) any thing i shoud ask? Depends on your personality. The reason I answered the message Mr. Pineapple sent me is because he commented on something in my profile, then asked my opinion on a book I had read by an author we both like. People who commented on nothing but my looks got no response (although it was flattering), because I value personality first. I wanted someone who I had things in common with and was capable of reading comprehension. :) Ask questions in the same way you would in person.

    6) would you do it again? Sure. I'm considering using it to find friends.

    7) what site(s) did you find most helpful. OKCupid, obviously. I took the eHarmony personality test thing about a decade ago (I didn't sign up) because my psychology professor suggested it. At the end it told me I was in something like 5 or 10% of the population it couldn't help.

    8) which one(s) should we stay away from / why? Craigslist

I always suggest being picky. And above all, be safe.

1 ) have you ever tried a dating site? -- Yes, I have tried a dating site.

    2) were you pleased? -- Yes. I've met three really nice people on there and one I've been dating over a year.

    3) would you tell someone to try one? -- Definitely! It's an easy way to meet people you know are available with common interests.

    4) any bad vibes? -- If you get bad vibes, do not go out on a date with the person. I'm extremely cautious and a pretty good judge of character, and the three people I went out with were all really nice. Friends, on the other hand, ended up going out with creeps or jerks a lot of the time. Part of it is luck, but a lot of it is your intuition and how well you can judge other people by words alone.

    5) any thing i shoud ask? -- Nothing in particular that I can think of... Just stuff you want to know about them.

    6) would you do it again? -- Yes, I've only had positive experiences.

    7) what site(s) did you find most helpful -- OK Cupid. It has a lot of geekier people on it, but try it even if you don't consider yourself geeky.

    8) which one(s) should we stay away from / why -- I couldn't say as I've only used the one. But I've heard awful things about Plenty of Fish.

any other info would be helpful --thanks -- Just the basic stuff. Always meet in a public place, talk to/message a person a few times before you meet them in person. A lot of people also have phone conversations which can really help you gauge the person you're planning to meet.

I used one for all of about 10 days.

Why did I quit? Honestly - I met my husband. Weirdest thing ever. we joined 2 days apart, met no one but eachother, had started a joint bank account for our wedding within 3 months of meeting and have lived happily ever after. It's sickening. If I wasn't us, I'd hate us.

We met on Plenty of Fish. I joined it because it was free and I wasn't looking for a serious relationship, I'd just moved to a new city and was looking to meet some new folk to show me some cool places around the city. I figured a paid site would attract people looking for a lot more serious stuff than I was. Heh - look where that got me.

1 ) have you ever tried a dating site?
    Yes...

    2) were you pleased?
Yep. Met my partner on one.. Been together for 10 years.

    3) would you tell someone to try one?
Yes recommended it to a friend and she too met her partner on it.

    4) any bad vibes?
None. Did the match up thing, paid a membership. I was 97 % compatible with the partner I am now with he messaged me, we dated and the rest is history.

    5) any thing i shoud ask?
Umm not sure, just similar interests and anything that's a deal breaker for you. For me it was kids. Even tho I had one did not want a man with zillions of children.

    6) would you do it again?
Yep if the need arose. Although I'm happy and hopefully we will be together for our lifetime.

    7) what site(s) did you find most helpful
I used find someone. (Nz site)

    8) which one(s) should we stay away from / why
Anything sleezy... I paid a membership

any other info would be helpful --thanks

    Good luck

Is it wise to ask about dating sites on a dating site?
This is a "dating" site now....why didn't anyone give me a heads up :ohwell:
I thought I was on here for weight loss management
