I know alcohol in general is really bad for losing weight but sometimes people ask if you want to go out somewhere to a pub or something and then its pretty much unnavoidable! Does anyone know which types of alcohol are gonna help my damage limitation technique most?
Thankyou!
Thankyou!

My poison is Diet Coke & Rum. One ounce of rum is 65 calories and then none in the Diet Coke. Then I sip, very, very slowly.
Good luck!0 -
I don't remember the exact number off the top of my head, but I think a shot of vodka only has like 60 calories. If I do end up drinking alcohol, I order vodka/club sodas. They're pretty decent calorie-wise.0

I have no idea...but would love to know too. Any one?0

i like Wine, SANGRIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!0

I've always heard that red wine or clear liquors are the best. There's also low-cal beers that aren't terrible in moderation. MGD 64, Bud Select 55, Michelob Ultra just to name a few.0

Vodka & diet mixer is pretty low as is gin... As a general rule, your clear liquers are lower calorie than your darker ones. Don't forget to add a lot of water as the booze dehydrates you.

It's avoidable if you want to avoid it.
Wait till Banks get here. You'll want to avoid it after he gets done dropping his knowledge.0 -
They have them listed in the database on here. I think Vodka or clear rum is the best (they used to tell people doing atkins that those were the ones to drink if you had to drink). I think it's best straight. Soda (diet or otherwise) seems to multiply the effects of the alcohol (you're already going to bloat from drinking, why bloat twice as much by adding soda - at least that's how it is for me). Personally, I'm a straight boubon girl, so my Makers Mark or any other 90 proof bourbon is about 65 calories per ounce.0

A shot of Jack Daniels and Diet Coke only has 65 calories. Definitely my "Go To" drink when needed!..0

Ye i heard spirits are probably the lowest in calories. If you could get diet coke with your vodka then that would be ok but i dont know if they even serve vodka with diet coke at most places0

I have grey goose vodka and soda water and a squeeze of fresh lime - I like it as it is as "clean" as alcohol can get, no extra sugar or chemicals0

My experience is they'll serve whatever you ask them as long as you pay0 -
80-proof vodka (40% alcohol; the most common type) has 64 calories per 1oz0

Any kind of whiskey mixed w/ diet coke, or clear liquors mixed with whatever. I am a red wine girl myself.0

Most glasses of wine contain 125-150 calories, but that can double depending on the size of the glass size and how full it is. At cocktail or dinner parties, glasses are often refilled before empty, making it especially hard for dieters to track their alcohol and calorie consumption.
Beer can range from 64-198 calories per 12 ounces. Light beers are a better choice because "they contain the same amount of alcohol as regular beers but fewer carbohydrates," says Gerbstadt. And, she adds, "low-carb beer is just another term for light beer."0 -
Its a good job i like vodka then xD
I will try the skinny *****! Looks good to me!0 -
Even though you are going to a pub, you could also have a diet sprite or diet coke. No one has to know that you ordered it virgin!0

Gin and diet tonic with a twist of lime is my fav. 64 cal for a 12oz drink. Tangueray Rangpur Lime gin is my personal fav for this drink.0

I don't have a link to the material, but I have read again and again that red wine is actually extremely beneficial to not just weight loss, but good general good health. That's a glass a day, though. It's a bit high-calorie for a social drinking night. There you want to go with vodka, pretty sure it is the lowest cal liquer, and if it's decent vodka, you can drink it with nothing but water. 3 to 1 or 2 to 1 with ice.
Stay away from pop. Might as well have wine in that case, at least wine is good for you (in moderation).0 -
Dewars White Label scotch has 65 calories per 1 oz. shot. Use water as a mixer - no additional calories; nice clean, crisp taste0

It is my understanding for weight loss purposes wine is better than liquor, and both are better than beer. I started drinking a lot more beer this past year, and I put on weight. While that wasn't the only reason I, I do know I drank MORE because it doesn't get me as drunk and I have no problems running the next day :-) I watch what I drink much closer when I stick to wine and vodka.
Whatever you do, drink a glass of water for every drink. That will slow you down tremendously!!0 -
I dont like alcopops anyways and beer isnt my thing either. I like vodka and diet coke though and i like ciders which i dont think are quite as bad as beers. Not a big fan of gin and tonic i must say0

What everyone is saying is good advice the clear alcohol is the least in cals...just remember its all empty cals ur taking in and they still count. U may want to start meeting ur friends other places where u wont be forced to drink and ruin what ur trying to accomplish by being here.0

My drink of choice is flavored vodka (citrus, mandrin, blueberry, rasberry etc) with soda water and some lemons or limes. You can also had a splash of cranberry or bring in your own crystal light packets.0

ye its true I really should do something else with them but when we do meet up there are soooo many people (most of my friend are at uni so they all come back at the same times) that we have to go somewhere like a pub or bar otherwise there just isnt any other place to go!0

My only other point is that what you're trying to achieve here (at least what most of us are) is a lifestyle change and it shouldn't restrict anything you like if you want it to work. The key is to learn how to do it all in moderation. Alcohol will screw up your weigh in if you weigh the next morning. But if alcohol isn't something you can see yourself living without for the rest of your life, you shouldn't cut it out now because otherwise you'll never learn how to drink it appropriately.0 -
Dont worry ive learnt how to drink appropriately. I could live without alcohol quite easily but it does make you feel a bit more included in the group and plus I am not going to a club or whatever and not drinking. I cant dance unless im merry xD (I probably cant even when i am merry but thats not what we are disscussing here xD)0
