I did a tri in July and had to train on the bike for it (obvs), and totally fell in love with it. Even on the rare days it's a real struggle, I get something out of it. Days like today, when I'm well rested and feel strong, it's AMAZING
How do you guys count your calories on the bike? I've found the tracker I use WAAAAY overestimates, so I correct it in MFP.0 -

9/19 - 0.7 miles. Managed to fall and hurt myself today (not while cycling). I really shouldn't be playing with 2x4's and cinder blocks. What a klutz. I'll be okay though.

Loving riding in the cooler weather up north, but returning to the hot hot Florida sun next Tuesday. Aside from my bike pump disappearing from my bike yesterday ($16 to replace), enjoying the bike commuting lifestyle and staying on track for 450 miles this month.

Goal #1: Oktoberfest starts on my birthday this month, so I guess my goal this month is to stay ahead of the calorie count by turning the pedals enough to indulge...
Goal #2: Get fewer flats this month.
Goal #3: Season is winding down, so it's time to start working in some fun fall rides with no particular training goals.

Dogs off the leash is one frustrating problem as a cyclist, the other one is that there are so many thieves.
I never leave my road bike out of my sight, since I got my bike stolen last year while I was on a short break.The bike was locked, but these locks are easy to cut, even the real heavy ones, if you have the right tool,which obviously bike thieves carry with them, ..
But my hybrid which I use for running errands has been stripped from everything like lights, pump, bicylcle computer, saddlebag, even the saddle at one time, while parked in front of a store. It is such a nuisance if you have to take off everything when you stop and it is embarrassing to be part of a group which has so little respect for another cyclist';s property.0 -

I have been lucky lately when it comes to dogs. Most are either fenced or on a leash. There was one very large, grey dog that was looking quite intently at me this morning. Fortunately his owner had him on a very short leash.
When I have had dogs come after me I have sped up and been able to get away from them.
One thing though - I have stopped saying hi to people with dogs. It seems many times I would say hi and the dog would go nuts. Dog owners probably think I am antisocial but it seems safer to just pass by.0 -

This last week wasn't great bike wise. It rained Monday, so didn't bike to work. Tuesday I biked to work, locked up my bike per usual and then when I went to ride home, realized I had taken my bike lock key off my key ring last Sunday and didn't put it back on. So, took the train home, took the train in the following morning and biked home Wednesday. Had to get to work at the crack of dawn on Thursday so drove. I get very grumpy when I don't get to bike to work. Winter is not going to be an easy adjustment when I have to take the train in the snow0 -
