I'm in again this month. Last month I finished up with 282 miles and 23 training hours, which wasn't bad considering I lost the whole first week of the month to sickness. I actually track training hours more than mileage since I'm constantly swapping between different types of riding. My goal is 7 - 10 hours per week.

    9/1 - 2:35, 38.56 Miles. Endurance ride.
9/2 - 0:00, 0 Miles. Rest day after putting in 120 miles over the weekend.
9/3 - 0:51, 7.05 Miles. Mountain biking during my lunch hour, MTB skills work.
9/4 - 0:45, 11.49 Miles. Indoor trainer, threshold HR test for my coach.
    9/5 - 1:09, 13.6 Miles. Gravel roads on the 'cross bike. Low-cadence Strength-on-bike intervals.
9/6 - 1:08, 17.13 Miles. Tempo intervals on the road bike.

    MTD Hours: 6:27
    MTD Mileage: 87.8

(Edited to add August training hours total)

Even if the cassette will end up in Bangladesh, I still have another bike. That one is not a road bike and a little bit slower, but I can still easily do forty miles on it.

I feel your pain because I am trying this month to meet a walking challenge too. My goal is to do half an Ironman and I hate running. So I am starting by walking every other day and try to walk further every time. Biking comes easier to me, at least there is the cooling wind when you bike fast while when I walk I feel like a snail which is slowly being baked in her shell.

Well, 19 miles is not going to cut it. Why don't you try my recipe and bike every day two miles longer.
by the middle of the month you will be nearly up to 40 miles a day and can relax for the rest of the month and only bike 25 miles a day and you will easily meet your goal of 750 miles.:flowerforyou:

We're kind of comparing apples to oranges here. I no longer own a "real" bike; I'm logging all my miles on a stationary bike at my gym. Believe me, 19 miles sitting in one place, drowning in my own sweat, and with nothing interesting to look at except the back of someone's head is about all I can STAND at one sitting!! 40 miles of that would kill me!! It took me about 70 minutes to do my 19 miles today which isn't too shabby, I think! I'm going to keep pedaling as much as I can, but catching up to you still seems kind of remote!!

I agree. I do not have a gym membership anymore. I did not like to walk on treadmills watching TV and sitting on stationary bikes going nowhere. Sure, it is hot out here in the desert but every ride I see something new, meet new people and riding my bike is not exercise but fun.

I would die of boredom if I would have to bike 40 miles on a stationary bike. But you did good time.

I did not realize that people participate on stationary bikes. My fault.

No problem! I never really said I was on a stationary bike. When I was young, I loved to ride, and could easily do 40 miles. Hopefully I'll get a "real" bike again and be out in the fresh air. Anyway, I'm still going to try to follow in your dust! You've challenged me to keep improving and I added a full three miles today, so it's good motivation! Still keeping you in my sights, your highness!!
    Pass auf!!! : )

    9/4 - 16 miles
    9/6 - 22 miles

    Goal: 450 miles (last month - 430)
    Total: 61 miles

Switching from a half marathon running plan to a full marathon plan this week (in addition to an olympic tri plan), so not sure I'll feel too good about riding 39 miles to get back on track after my long run (and 2k open water swim) tomorrow... on the plus side, the high tomorrow (here in Florida) is down to a balmy 88 degrees ;)

    September goals?

Goal #1: Oktoberfest starts on my birthday this month, so I guess my goal this month is to stay ahead of the calorie count by turning the pedals enough to indulge...

Goal #2: Get fewer flats this month.

Goal #3: Season is winding down, so it's time to start working in some fun fall rides with no training goals.

I considered myself at one time a pretty regular rider. Clocking in about 400-500 miles a month, volunteered for our local bike collective... That kind of stuff. I was always a lone rider. Did some canyon riding, but liked to ride our riverway quite a bit. I stopped riding completely last winter. Gained weight and decided I better get back on the bike. I was doing about 10 miles a day and wanting to build of course. Then got into a scooter accident and crushed my foot. I am "out of boot" now, and got the go ahead a month ago to ride again from my doctor. I can't seem to get "back on bike." So I decided today I am going to pull my bike and just go for a freaking ride.

Wish me luck. When I get back I will post my ride. I get off work at 5 today, and will ride after work, so it will be later tonight.

First week of September complete. Month's goal: 500 miles

    9/2: 28.4 miles
    9/3: 30.7 miles
    9/4: 30.2 miles
    9/5: 10.4 miles
    9/6: 60.5 miles

    Total so far:160.2

Today was the St. Paul Classic. I was biking last year, but at my heaviest weight ever. I did 33 miles in 3 and a half hours. This year, I did both the long route and the short route, for a total of 60.5 miles. Completed in 4 and a half hours. Minnesota is in general flat, but the course contained a whole heck of a lot more hills than I am used to.
