Sin food - what HAVE you given up?

I know there is a thread asking what we simply cannot and will not give up but what about all the unhealthy things that we HAVE given up?
I have never eaten much fast food or many take aways but the I did used to eat a lot of shop bought pizza's (a small Pizza Express Margarita was my pizza of choice and I used to have one at least once a week. They are 600 cals a pop!!)
I have totally cut them out.
I have also cut out garlic bread (which I would have 2/3 times a week - either shop bought or home made)
My main achievement to date is giving up wine (I'd have at least 2 bottles a week) and crisps - 3/4 packs a week!!
I don't even feel like I am 'missing' anything.
What unhealthy things have you guys cut back on that you used to eat lots of??

croissants - filled with chocolate, vanilla... ! I love them and I was eating them almost every day...0
-
Beer.. !0

I haven't conciously given up anything, but haven't bought any ice cream since I started mfp.0
-
Diet Coke!! Didnt realise how bad it was for you and how much it can hinder weight loss until I started reading a lot of information on here about it. I used to drink far too much of it daily, but have started drinking water instead now :-)0

Beer and McDonalds Bacon & Egg McMuffins!
I've also drastically cut back on my chocolate intake, and have promised myself a bacon sandwich (just the one, on a Sunday morning!) when the scales grant me permission!
Having said all that, I do believe that everything in moderation is the key to success, and by barring some foods from our diet completely we only crave them more.

Absolutely nothing its about moderation!
Instead of 6 bags of crisps in one sitting maybe 1 every couple of days. If i feel like i cant have something i want it all the more and then ill binge.0 -
The ONLY thing that i've given up is fizzy drinks. Everything else in moderation!0
-
coke, sprite, soda and processed bottle juice - completely given up
Biscuits and potato chips/crisps, candies, chocolate, ice-creams - Limited, very limited.
Luckily I don't crave them unless there's a jar of biscuits in front of me.0 -
i havent really given anything up totally, but ive really cut down on bread0
-
I have given up Diet Coke totally, because it is so bad for you. Everything else is just about portion control.0

im trying to follow the 80:20 rule so I eat really healthy choices 80 % of the time/calories so in theory you dont have to cut out everything - but due to health reasons I have cut out -alcohol, artifical sweetners, any foods with preservatives/colouring/artificial flavouring - feels like Ive cut out all the fun things! But I am now enjoying the benefits of the healthier diet -more energy, losing weight, feeling happier, less bloated0

I've given up:
- white pasta
- white rice
- Indial take-aways from my local Indian Restaurant
I've severely cut down on:
- white potatos
- bread0 -
I don't drink any soda or juices... just water, coffee and unsweetened tea.
I have a sweet tooth, so candy in general. Specifically - Hot fudge pop-tarts, I can eat a family size box in 2 hours easily.0 -
I also have given up the ole Fudge Pop tarts, which is really hard cause my kids live them. My kids are all under weight so u can't take them out of the house.
I have not had pizza since February 2nd. Pasta is a very very hard thing for me I simply can not take it out of my diet. I'm Italiano can't take away my heritage. I am strict with myself I measure out a portion and don't allow myself seconds.
This is a lifestyle I creating not a diet, so I'm learning moderation is key.0 -
!. Soda *diet or otherwise*
2. Ice cream
3. Pizza
4. Chocolates0 -
Cranberry/ Orange scones from Starbucks or Panera Bread, donuts, muffins, Chinese Buffets, potato crisps (chips), beer, M&Ms ...0
-
I cut out Diet Coke completely and have severely limited fast food. I used to eat fast food every day....yuck!0
-
Mcdonald's LARGE mocha frappe...oh how I miss thee0
-
Sweeeeeet Tea ((( Haven't drank any in a week and Im about to die!!!!! Plus I was addicted to the coleslaw at my work. I ate a cup of it almost every day. It WAS sooo good lol0
-
Brown sugar and cinnamon pop-tarts....................................0
-
Nothing. If I want one of my "sin foods", I either make allowances for it or save it for my once a week "cheat meal". It's the only way I can live. This is a lifestyle, not a diet.0

I've tried not to cut anything out (I find that's when you crave it the most) but I have severely cut back on crisps - I used to have at least one pack a day, and they were McCoys too, at 250 cals a bag! I'm also cutting back on how much meat I used to eat, which is partially down to portion control.
Interesting to read all this stuff about diet coke, I drink it very rarely now but I will have a few cans when I'm visiting my mum as she always has a good stock in the fridge. Can anyone point me in the direction of some scientific evidence of why it hinders weightloss (I know the sweeteners are bad for your kidneys), and how much has an effect?
Thanks all!0 -
Decided not to take half measures, allowing me to have some things occasionally, as that would just make me want to eat more of it so... gave up (and have not had sine April 2010)
- alcohol
- milk, cream
- cheese
- butter
- ice cream
- cookies and cakes
- chocolate
- muffins, croissants, Danish pastries
- pies
- refined sugar
- eggs
- fast food of any kind
- white rice and white bread
- pre made salad dressings
- any fizzy drink (diet or other)
Geez it made weight loss easier and I don't miss them now, at all0 -
I haven't really given up anything but I've realised if I want to make my calorie goal most days I can't drink alcohol or have milk in my coffee. But when I have spare calories I'll still have those things if I can (:0
-
I wouldn't say i've given anything up as I didn't eat fast food, junk and fizzy drinks etc. before
I have cut own on the amount of bread I eat though
I only drink alcohol if i'm out for dinner or out with friends partying (no more wine while i'm sat in watching TV)
Orange juice (didn't realise how much sugar/calories were in it!)
Used to eat lots of beans and pulses but have cut down now I know how calorific they are....healthy but still calorific!0 -
the only thing I chose to give up was coca cola - A few years ago I would drink 4L a day! Then cut down to 2L a day until last year I managed to cut back to 2L every few days - at Christmas I just stopped completely, the first few weeks were horrendous but 2 weeks ago I was given a glass of coke and actually didnt even like the taste anymore!!
Other things Ive given up (but not on purpose) is all my chocolates, biscuits, crisps - infact we dont have any in the house anymore, cakes have gone, orange juices etc
I dont really miss anything either because Im so filled from eating fruits - and have got used to drinking water too
Takeaways I used to eat up to 2 or 3 a week due to the nature of my work - now I have 1 or 2 a month and only if no meal has been planned, or I am out for the day.0 -
Not given up anything really, except the fat on meats...i trim that off now but most of what i buy is fairly lean anyway. I've never been one for fast foods, burger king mcdonalds are probably a couple of times a decade, subway is once a year (i gotta be due one now! lol) Its more about portion control and moderation than giving stuff up for me. The things I think twice about tho are sausages, white bread and pasta, bacon, cheese and pastry0
-
Mc donalds, KFC and Burger King!!!
I still have the occassional Indian and Chinese take-a-way though, but I chose wisely from the menu and have a small portion as a treat.0 -
Absolutely nothing its about moderation!

exactly, I have allowed myself two trips to BK since the 1/5/2011, but got much smaller portions than usualy, I also still eat pizza & CHocolate, just in moderation. . one small papa johns used to last me two maybe three meals, I made it last me 5 We still go out to dinner, I just eat healthier, only thing I've cut out is the frequency0 -
I gave up white pasta and bread, I find that it was the same amount of calories, and it kept me full for longer, so that was a plus! I also use to eat a huge amount of potato chips during the week. I didn't give it up, but it's hard to fit into my daily calories now, so I end up not eating them!0
