More People Watching At The Gym

At my gym there is this short little chubby man that comes in on a regular basis and uses the elliptical. He moves so fast on that thing that it shakes and makes all these clunky noises and hes ALWAYS on resistance 1. Its so funny that I literally can't help but laugh out loud and I really want to tell him that you can up the resistance so he doesn't fly off the thing!0

oh! oh! i got one...
the three girls that come to zumba class that stand in the back and don't do anything except laugh and talk to each other.
rawr!! i want to throw something at them0 -
no panty lines here. I dont need my panties riding up and distracting me so i go commando under my underarmor!
Amen sister... I am proud to be one of the commando force...
I never thought I would be that person ... but after chaffing on a couple of long runs... no more chaffing after the commando style has been adopted!0 -
I have three types that drive me crazy ...
1. The little 13-14 year old girls who are lollying around the track and getting in my way and screwing up my time because they walk 2 and 3 abreast and its hard to get past them
2. The nice older man who power walks so fast that he literally walks faster than I run. He is probably in his late 50s early 60s and is the nicest guy but its a huge insult to my ego to be lapped repeatedly by him on a run.
3. The lady who talks on her cell phone while walking on the indoor track --- seriously what the heck is so important that you need to talk to someone while you are getting your workout in. If you want to leisurely walk and talk ... take it outside or get a treadmill at home!
That is all ...0 -
At my gym we have people that run and drink coffee or pop. (can't figure that one out.. i crave water when I run)
The worse is the older women who forget there are other people in the change room.. One time I walked in to go change just as one of the older heavier gal decided to bend over with nothing on...saw way too much that day.
We have meat heads and short shorts, girls who look like they are superstars just going to the gym to look for new bf's.
One lady works out in sweats and is always on her phone when the conversation is intense she slows her pace down if the conversation is relaxed she's huffing and puffing in their ear.
Wonder what people say about me lol.0 -
3. The girls without panty lines. It's true. There were about 10 women there tonight and NONE of them had panty lines. WTH?
I avoid panty lines. No one needs to stare at my undies shifting around or going up my bum when I run (c'mon, it happens sometimes!). Nothing wrong with wearing a thong so that people don't have to be faced with the gross visual. I dislike when women DON'T wear discreet undies and you've got a quadruple-bum happening!!
True. It's 2011. No excuse for panty lines!!!! Thongs all the way :-)0 -
Haha! Love it!!! Okay here is what happens at my gym when you go at 8am
1. About 99% of the people there are elderly people ( all wearing high water dress slacks and women wear their hair beautified, makeup on and jewelery) on the treadmill walking about 1mph
2. We have a guy that works there (or volunteers) and he holds on to a 1990s CD player while he walks around chatting it up with people and/or getting on the machines.
3. The 2 friends (women) who I can hear over my headphones (which are on high blast) gossip about their husbands and laugh hysterically
4. Random old man flirting with a old women in front of him by throwing a sweat towel at her head....
i'll watch for more tomorrow!0 -
There is a girl that just started coming to the gym, she wares two pairs of tights ...Tight Tight Tight Tights. Puts on the weight belt and sits on the machines does one rep and then just sits and stares at the guys about 60% and me 40%, which makes me uncomfortable, this is a VERY small gym and I am the only other female in there besides her. Then there's one guy who starts the same conversation everyday wanting to measure his thighs and compare them to another guys...which they never do.0

We too have a couple of these mentioned at our gym..
1. The guys who always are talking about how ripped they have become. They are all giving each other compliments and sound ridiculous. They all know they have muscle we all don't need to hear about it tho.
2. Every day at 5:00 there is an older gentleman that is walking/running on the treadmill and wears the largest old fashioned headphones ever. And to top it off there is a huge antenna coming off them.
3. The worst thing I have seen so far is the pretty boy that came in and started running on the treadmill. he was fit but the only problem was that he was wearing only spandex and nothing else. I definitely would not be one to wear something like it. It was like a car crash...you want to look away but some things are just too horrific that you can't haha0 -

OH OH!! I have some of those in my Zumba class also! They *iss me off cuz they're usually in my way and I have to go around them!!0 -
I got a couple...
The other day there was a woman sitting on a recumbant bike, pedaling along while doing a crossword puzzle...Really? Are you sure you're working hard enough?
And there is a woman who always comes in leg warmers. Tights and leg warmers. I feel like I'm back in the 80s again....0 -
Wednesday nights I always get people from a high school coming in. One girl and a ton of teen guys. She wears shorts were you can literally see a fourth of her butt. She does squats and everything that gives her an excuse to flash the boys she's with. Oh and the people in the next room that can see her through the window.0

I work out at my university's recreation center (probably the most awesome gym I've ever been to, they harness electricity from the cardio equipment!), so the crowd is what you would expect: 18-25 yos for the most part, and then a few older people who are generally graduate students or professors. Anyway, I swim every morning, and every morning there is this kid who comes in wearing a speedo, but he rarely actually gets in the pool. He pretty much comes in, talks to the lifeguards for a while, MIGHT jump in the pool and swim a few laps, and then leaves. It's not like he comes back later to swim, the pool is only open for two hours in the morning, and I'm there pretty much the whole time.0

Yes! I am the girl that dances on the treadmill.0

I don't beleive in panty lines, regardless of where I am. I don't even own anything thats not a thong (except bathing suits, because that's just wrong).
We have a guy that skulks around in a hoodie with the hood up so you can't see his face and he hits about every cardio machine full blast like a psycho and then on to the next. He NEVER wipes down a machine. I want to kick him in the face.0 -
Yes! I am the girl that dances on the treadmill.
I dance on the elliptical.. I love it!0 -
The guy who always drops weights hard on the ground. They are announcing to the whole gym look how much weight I can lift.0
-
The "friend" who brings chocolate or muffins or fat loaded starbucks coffee drinks to our workout and wants me to join in her indulgence so she won't look so bad on her own. :noway:
I wish she would stay home! :laugh:0 -
Im part of the no panty line group too, thongs are supposed to be in the buttcrack and I don't spend time tryin to dig out wedgies from a pair of ill fitting panties.
I want to qualify to all those reading and this makes you nervous about joining a gym.... much of these stories are observations only. There may be some judgement in them yes, but you will be judged anywhere you go in public, it's just a fact of life. I may look at someone and think they look goofy or over the top but those thoughts stay in my head. I'm absolutely positive people do the same watching me at the gym. Just put your earbuds in, turn the music up, and tune the world out and get on with your workout!0 -

Yikes, I do that. On the decline bench I kinda let them drop. I hate the sound of it cause it rings throughout the room, but I can't help but drop them.0 -
Hmm one time I was at the gym on the treadmill and wondered what would happen if I closed my eyes while running. Apparently, you flip over the bar of the treadmill and land flat on your butt. A lot of people, including me, got a good laugh out of it and now I know what happens :P0

Nothing wrong with it at all, but then I am a guy.0

As for annoying people at the gym, I go to a very small gym/Crossfit box. The ones I can't stand are the little overachievers, that when they are behind me in the running portion (and were behind all along) do a quick sprint at the end to pass me by...just so they beat me by 1 second. Really annoying.
Also the cardio bunnies. Got news for you chickie, my body looks better than you doing only weights in the weight room than your 45 minutes on the elliptical. Just sayin'.0 -
I am a big fan of wearing my normal bikini underwear to the gym, panty lines and all, despite it being the year 2011. Please tell me I'm not alone! I hope that there are people out there who don't notice these things! :blushing:0

OK....there is a totally geek fit guy at my gym that waits until there are a fair amount of women around...(I know this because I have seen him hang about for quite a while trying to look busy).....and then the proceeds to stand on his hands in front of the wall mirror. Nope, not a big deal in itself...but his baggy old man shorts eventually start creeping toward his head and you can see his hairy HO HO's....EEEEEEEEEK!....
That's some scary stuff!!0 -

 Oh, Goo! That is hilarious though!0 -
There was one girl yesterday who turned up in a low cut light coloured top and a bright red push up bra. I don't tend to notice people but I couldn't help but notice her. As someone who can only exercise in sports bras it did make me wonder how she would do anything remotely energetic.0

The people who walk on the treadmill but set it on such a ridiculously high incline that they have to hang on to the bars to stop toppling backwards crack me up. We live in Wales, there is a mountain 10 minutes drive from the gym really if you want to mountain climb go do it for real.....0

you are not alone, i can't stand thongs (nasty experience with some gold coloured stitching acting like a cheese wire when at the cinema whilst watching lord of the rings). i'm there to work out and get hot and sweaty not worry about what people think i look like0 -

I am sooooo with you on this!!!
And it massively inflates your projected burned calories because the treadmill HRM will assume you're supporting your own body weight rather than clinging to the bars for dear life leaning backwards. It really is so utterly pointless yet people do it all the time...0
