Wow! You ALL impress me. I have an old Kent boys mountain bike that's on its way out. I just got the tire fixed and am going to replace it in the spring as the forks in front are going. Any ideas for a replacement, please let me know. During spin class I usually go about 20 MPH, but on the road, usually only about 10, so I am not looking for a racing bike. I am HOPING to ride about 100 miles over the next four weeks. I also run, walk, hike, and take a Zumba or kick boxing class when I can. I switch to the elliptical in the winter instead of biking usually.0

... and because you are awesome!
Goal 400 miles, MTD 49 Miles. Guess I need to start wearing my earbuds so I can listen to some Fleetwood Mac while on the road (at least some of the good stuff that's as old as I am).
I Fleetwood Mac, and Stevie Nicks, Van Morrison. You are NOT old, just have good taste!0 -
Goal 200 miles.

Month's total: 181.4 miles
It's dark and cold now when I start to bike in the morning, making it harder to motivate myself to go the long way to work (7 miles vs. 15). I think I need to find my thicker woolier socks, because my poor toes are freezing for a good few hours after I get to work. Or I need to switch from my road bike (backpack) to mountain bike (rack and panniers) so I can wear my boots in the morning and carry my sneakers to wear to the gym. The backpack doesn't have enough room for any additional pairs of shoes.0 -
I'm just starting cycling again and it's already a third of the way through October so I will ain for 100 miles as a nice round number.0

Just got a new bike the end of September. It was professionally fitted for me, amazing. Love it! I only ride on the weekends, and I run during the week. So I'm not sure what my cycling goal will be yet.

*I have no cycling goals for October in terms of miles, and hours. I will race in two mountain bike races on my schedule to finish out the 2014 racing season. At this point, I can't gain any more fitness for October, so I'm just trying to maintain what is left from the previous 10 months of training enough to do races on the 19th and the 25th. Then it's time for fall riding, and weight-lifting season.0 -

Man, fall has been crazy busy. Fall festivals for schools, helping my brother renovate his new house, family birthdays. These are killing my time to ride. Hoping that life calms down a bit and I can carve out some more time on the bike.
Hey do y'all use an app on your phone to keep track of your rides? Which ones do you like? I've been using My Tracks mostly because it's free, but I was curious what others liked or disliked.0 -

IpBike - Tracks all my matrix (cadence, speed, GPS route/map, climbs, etc plus virtual power). It's not free but very cheap on time activation. I have it on my HTC One M7 rooted with ANT+Enabler since the phone has an ANT+ radio. Works with BLE also.

Why not! This past weekend I discovered the wonders that are stationary bikes at the gym. Holy moly, have I been missing out! I cracked a little under 8 miles on Saturday, and a little under 7 miles again yesterday, but I had increased the "level" of the machine, so I was pedaling with more resistance yesterday. My goal now is to get at least 7-8 miles in per workout (and bike 20-30 minutes). Hopefully I can update this post with some good news after I get out of the gym this afternoon.0

With a week away from my road bike due to a business trip (brought my running shoes instead), I'm going to be back with a vengeance . Good to see so many new faces on here. Keep up the hard work! You'll never see how much better you do next month if you don't keep it up this month. Cold weather is coming and I'll be breaking out the cold weather gear soon.
With regard to the mile tracking, I'm using Runtastic Pro. It does a good job and the cost was low. Makes it easy to separate my exercises into different groups. I use a low-end Polar watch/band to track my heart rate.
MTD: 162 Miles (+18 running), Goal: 400 miles (+40 running)

Looks like I can't edit the post, but I managed to get 9.3 miles in today (personal record!) in 35 minutes, and that includes my 5 minute cooldown after the 30 minute mark. Feeling great! Rest day tomorrow from the bike, most likely going to go back at it on Wednesday morning. So far have about 24 miles logged since Saturday.

I ride 22 miles everyday on my bike to and from work. There is nothing better than being on a bike and being able to see God's beautiful world that we live in. You can not see it behind the wheel of a car but when you ride your bike you see everything. Not to mention the health benefits since Dec 28, 2013. I have lost a total of 51 pounds and I have been riding since February and I say to all these bike riders out there keep riding it's fun.

I have been on MFP for quite a while, but new to this forum. For October my goal is 300. here is what I've logged so far:
10/2-30 miles
10/4-20 miles
10/7-28 miles
10/11-22 miles
I will be doing a century on Saturday. My routine includes several days of running per week so my cycling mileage is lower than it used to be.
Happy cycling!
