Do you take on a different personality when on the net?

No, I believe in being yourself no matter what.
Being false only intensifies low self worth to me because your living a lie.
It depends on your personality and self esteem though, some people feel more stronger behind their screens. And if that works for them, then fine.
I wouldn't agree. you can be who you really are, or have "no filter" on the internet without much repercussion and avoid burning bridges of trade. I'm in a position in which I strategically have to maintain certain company, and their acquaintance is advantageous to me. My self worth is through the roof, otherwise I wouldn't be able to so.
I agree with you, Huggy. It's not being fake or hiding when you're online. It all depends on the company and where you are. I've learned the very hard way that I can't be brash online and people often misread my words. I also can't read body language from words, alone.
^This. It can be difficult to convey tones such as sarcasm, mocking, playfulness, sincerity, etc. online. I truly feel bad if I offend someone and I am legitimately in the wrong. It is easier to avoid those misunderstandings IRL when I have tone of voice and facial expressions at my disposal.0 -
I use fewer gifs in real life. Apart from that I'm exactly the same

Exactly!!! Body language speaks volumes and people don't know that I'm a very sardonic person online, other then when I say I am. My words in my sarcastic self can be misread as me being a total *****. I'd rather not have to explain every word I make online.0 -
i am pretty much the same person.0
-
I'm different online. I'm very reserved and shy in real life. I have trouble being in rooms with lots of people. Online, I feel I can be me and I open up so much more.0
-
Are you more outgoing when online, almost to the point of being the polar opposite of yourself in public?
I'm more careful about editing myself online. You know what they say: Don't say or do anything online you wouldn't want to see on the front page of the newspaper (or homepage).0 -
if they keep interrupting you it's because they don't respect you. only thing to do is alpha up and pee on their shoes. that'll teach'em :drinker:0

How I am on here is how I would be if I knew you in real life. However, odds are if I were to cross paths with any of you in the real world I doubt you'd notice. I'm a lot more reserved in person.0
-
I'm more myself online because I can hide behind a computer screen.
I'm shy in person, but my real personality once you get to know me is similar to the one I have on here.
Did I forget to send you that picture of me in my Hooters shirt? Let me get on that, buddy!0 -
I am a lot more shy and quiet in person..0
-
Possibly a bit moreover about insecurities if ever necessary. I don't do that in 'real life'0
-
100% same guy.0
-
I'm pretty much the same. Quiet and shy when I first meet you, but once I get to know you a little, I am wide open, love to have fun and joke and be silly...oh and be a perv. Yep, same person on the interwebz and in real life.0
-
Same person, positive, optimistic, encouraging, free spirited, sultry if the occasion calls for that. As in real life I MAKE an effort to hold the judgement of others. People will always live their life the way they want, regardless of others opinion, I am not about to waste mine judging theirs .0

Who would admit to it, even if they did? I mean, really.
I don't. But people react to me differently. I'm concise in my speech and very sarcastic IRL, but on the internet I can't always convey my tone, and people get mad thinking I'm being a jerk. So I have to overuse smileys.0 -
I feel free to say way more in online forums than I do in public. I am far more shy in person than online, and much more friendly.

In for this one. I am Sybil on the internet.

Quite a few people have admitted to it at least to some degree0 -
I used to as a younger teenager but now I think it's the same. I learnt to speak my thoughts in real life too.0
-
Nope. If anything I am a lot less blunt in RL.0
-
I wouldn't say I take on a different personality, I'm just more comfortable and open. In real life, I'm a person who is very nervous around people, especially crowds, so I can come across as shy (or *****y, it can be taken different ways) or flaky. Online, the anxiety is removed so I'm more at ease.0
-
Speak my mind regardless if its online or in person.0
-
No, I'm pretty much the same personality wise but I am a bit more shy in person than online.0
-
I'm a lot more outgoing online and a hell of a lot more flirty, in person I hide behind my fatness and, unless I'm with my friends, I'm very shy.0
-
Interesting question and responses! Since life doesn't unfold in a series of pictures and polarized responses, I call BS on people who say they are the same in RL. However, I think you can get a strong, and very accurate perception of people online. In some ways, even more real than what you may see at, say, the office. That is why so many people meet love successfully on chat sites.
Whether in person, or here, we are all only exposing what we think the world wants - even if it's sarcasm, strong opinions, or sweet talk. In turn, we read between those lines to form relationships.0 -

Is that right?0 -
I'm the same but there is a spectrum from "I'd never say that in public" to "sure I'll say that". Those extremes stay the same for me but the gray area in the middle, I tip to the "sure I'll say that" side more often than in real life.0
-
I'm pretty much the same, except I'm slightly less flirty in person than I am online. Unless I've had a drink or two lol0
-
I am exactly the same. What you see is what you get!0
