I just finished "Gone Girl" and I'm feeling the need for something light. "Doctor Sleep" is next up on my Kindle, but I'm just not up to it.

I just finished reading The Opposite of Loneliness. It is a collection of short stories written by Marina Keegan, who was killed in a car accident right after graduating from Yale a couple years ago. Her former professor helped get her work published into this collection that became the book. She was a very talented writer. The stories are short, so it is on the lighter side too.
  • I listen to game of thrones while walking. I recommend it if you are not fainthearted :)

My favorite book of all time is The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon. I heard recently there is a sequel. I must read it.

(Edited: my fingers got ahead of me. )
  • Stephen King's Dark Tower series. Jury is still out on the recommendation, I'm only 100 pages in, but so far I'm enjoying it!

Gone Girl is my fun read right now and The Dead and Those About to Die is my serious read. I highly recommend the latter for any history nerds, as well as any of the other books by John McManus.

BREATH, EYES, MEMORY as I am teaching it again. read it. It serves as a wonderful exploration of Haitian culture and a testament to the power of change as well as a story of mothers and daughters and those fragile bonds

I tried Goodreads, but it wouldn't let me log on, and the search function wasn't working!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets... It's not bad. Never read the series before, I'm enjoying it far more than I expected.

The entire series is fantastic. "Wolves of the Calla" is my favorite.

    A Clockwork Orange.
I've seen the movie before and liked it so I was curious about the book.
    So far so good.
  • The Complete Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle (you know, that pretty fake-leather bound book at Barnes & Noble). I was surprised to find that most of the books are a bunch of short stories instead of full length novels, but nonetheless, they are enjoyable. Except for his overuse of the word "singular" his writing is rich and descriptive and moves quickly.

Great! Now the next time I read that, it's really going to bug me!
I was reading something recently, and the author was overly fond of the word "patina." By the end of the book I was flinching every time I saw it.

Right now I'm reading The Yellow Birds by Kevin Powers. I'm reading it for a freelance job and I'm only through the first two chapters, but the writing is good and it's a good story so far.

I most recently finished (for myself) Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman. Not the best book ever, but enjoyable. And the last book I gave more than three stars to was Storm Front by Jim Butcher. It's the first from The Dresden Files. It was a quick, easy read. A little bit noir, but fun. I've been told they get better, but I haven't had a chance to try another one.

I recently finished Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult (do not recommend), and The Invention of Wings (do recommend). I'm currently reading King's newest, Revival - so far, it's fabulous.

What if we told you... that dishonesty in children is a positive trait that arguing in front of your kids can make you a good role model and that if you praise your children you risk making them fail ...and it was all true?

"Boys in the Boat", absolutely a great read. PNW crew team over comes a tremendous amount to gain the gold in Germany...1936. Incredible read.

Reading Revival by Stephen King right now - his newest that just came out. Halfway through it, it's good. Mr. Mercedes, his last one, was good too! I'm also working on re-reading the Legend series by Marie Lu, those are excellent. Her newest, The Young Elite is quite good. The Scorpio Races by Maggie Stiefvater is a lovely read a well. One of the most beautiful books I've ever read.

I've never read that. It's funny how many books I haven't read because I really loved the movie. And yet, the book is always better!

I was really excited for Legend, but it ended up reading like bad fanfic to me. Really Mary Suey.

It was a shame because I really wanted to like it, I'm glad you did though! :)
