My numbers paused versus touch and go are very close right now - 62.5 (137.5) platform versus 66 (145) touch and go. Should see an increase on max bench as long as I can break through my mental block this week.0

Impressive! Gonna head downstairs and hit my gym now!0 -

Good luck on your training this week. Mental barriers can be a pain to break but once you get past them you can often make some serious progress for a while.0 -
Hey wheelhouse, Was down in the gym doing bench 3X6 at 200lbs and did a 7th rep on each set with a 5 sec pause.... OMG was like lifting a buick!0

LOL, yeah, it's different that's for sure!0 -
I am not even close to 1.5 BW bench.0

Do a 3-5 second pause on a 1.5.
I got a set of 5 in at 205, and just gave up. Too hard mentally, and I'd like to think I have a pretty decent mental foundation for lifting.

BW - 175
BP - 245
I'm close, but not there yet.0 -
OP - wilkes is a calculator to determine a strength rating. It appears to normalize the result for different body weights.0

I did super slows years ago. The cadance was 3-2-2 and was mind numbing. I was only able to do about 185 for 5 and was about to give up on them when my training buddy told me to try a normal set at 235. It was so easy I couldn't believe it but that's what time under tension can do for strength.0 -
Yeah, TUT is a big thing I work on with my trainer on non-maximal lift sessions. Slow is brutal, but getting that tension in there, even if you are so dead it's just a static hold has done a lot for me personally.0

I think I'm going to add a 5 second pause to the last rep of every set on the bench... Might bounce me back up to 300lbs faster!0

Heres what you do, Take your 1 rep max divide by 1.5 and that's your new goal body weight...lol0 -

Don't I know that! Last time I broke the block I saw an 11kg increase in one max testing session. And if I don't break it myself, my coach will break it for me.

lol lack of progress is often due to lack of yelling as we all know.0 -
I can do 10 reps at half body weight, but am a long way from benching BW. My 1 rep max is just below "intermediate" on the standards chart.0
-
I read the majority of men can't even bench their body weight (considering the majority of the country weights over 200+ pounds now). I suspect it is less than 1 in 100 that can bench 1.5 their body weight.
277 would be 1.5 my body weight. I'd have to be hopped up on something serious to get that and even then... Although I am going for 300 by my 25th birthday which is 1 year 4 months away about shouldn't be too hard by then. I am at the perfect age to gain strength.0 -
I use strength standards to measure and to plan my weights (strstd.com) but I'd love to know if you're right about 1xbw / halfxbw (cause right now I just measure novice/intermediate, etc)
My 1RM right now is about halfxbw + 10-15 pounds, I would LOVE to be able to do that 10X. NEW GOAL whoopwhoop!0 -
aw... 1.5 would be 240.
le sigh.
one day- I want 2 plates. I'm game for that. I have low standards- but at least I have goals!!!!0 -

I have heard this as well. A year and a half in the gym and I am at 325 One rep max. Though I do 285 usually in my sets.0

So looks like I was close with the 10x half bw but maybe off a bit on the 1 rep max at bw for women.0 -

I think you're right, Maybe we should say 1% of men can do it?0 -
lol at everyone focused on the 1% vs 1/1000

BW - 170
1RM - 210
I'm only a part time lifter, so progress is slow for me. I'd love to hit 2 plates by the start of race season, but that's pretty aggressive/optimistic, especially considering my higher-priority body comp goals.0 -

Not too shabby, Your goal is a good one. How many reps at BW?0
