SO FORBIDS me!! Not sure if spousal abuse or not. WARNING, Triggering.

I have been married for several years now and have two small boys. Even before I was with my SO I have always had a dream. To set up the battle of Hoth under my Christmas tree. This has always been a dream of mine, and I finally have a house, a tree, and children to enjoy it. There is just one problem. My SO says NO, it is not Christmasy and it would look stupid. She has gone so far as to not let me put anything under the tree that is not a train or a Christmas village.

I picture a shield generator snow speeders and several AT-AT's in a mock battle. pipe cleaners for lasers or possibly LED lighting would dot the snowscape.
Of course star destroyers and rebel alliance transport ships would hang from the tree. Blue LED lights for ion cannon fire would flicker from the branches. I figure this entire project, including creating the terrain platform would cost between 3-4 thousand dollars. Dear mfp, how can I make my wife see the beauty in then when I purchase all the materials and take a day off from work to construct this. Thank you.

I'm sorry that you now to would like to set up a star wars scene under your own tree. Please don't, this is my idea. Go set up degoba or cloud city.

I had a star wars themed tree one year! Loved it! Darth vadars head sat atop my tree and we bought a ton of Star Wars miniatures, cut the bases off of them, added hooks and viola miniature ornaments!!! Probably one of my favorite Xmas themes we did. I will see if I can find pics and PM them to you! <3

That's awesome. You should show her the Star Wars Christmas special to get her in the mood for an ewok christmas. https://youtube.com/watch?v=6c3B18gAJyc I'm pretty sure that a few minutes in she will be willing to give into your demands just to be able to stop watching it.

The best part (or worst) is when the grandfather wookie watches VR porn, I think it's in part 2 or 3.

If she loved you she'd let you do it. I think you both need some serious counseling before buying any joint Christmas presents for the kids.

Easy solution: get a 2nd tree.
I decorate our main tree w/ the theme/color scheme that I deem fit.
The hubby and kids decorate the 2nd tree w/ all their school project ornaments and whatever else they've put together.
    We are all happy.

Oh or suggest a non-seasonal version instead? That might make it seem more appealing.

That's a lotta money, bro. I would totally do it, and I don't think my husband would mind if I did, but I would have to find a way to do it at much less expense. I've seen Star Wars nativities, so I mean... why not lol

Huango has the answer; she stole it from me. Get your own tree and set it up in your man-cave. Your boys can vote on their favourite tree.

Hubby wanted to spray paint the Christmas tree Florida Marlins colors. Um, no. Forbidden.

This sort of dispute is not a deal-breaker.

Yes, it is. And not understanding that obvious fact is also a deal breaker.

Compromise. Put the train under the tree and hoth elsewhere. A great idea. I am Darthmom tho. I am a nerd and I love it. If you are serious about this and not trolling you can do it for A LOT LESS MONEY. Be creative.
