January Running Challenge

grimmeanor wrote: »I challenged myself to run 4 miles yesterday morning at 3 degrees with -17 windchill. Prior to that the coldest I had run was around 15 or so. I dressed in the same layers I do when it's 15-25 degrees, but added a UA Storm hoodie over all that. I had no problems. The only part that really felt any discomfort was my chin and nose jutting out from the hood when I was running into the wind...but even then it was not all that bad. Some chapstick is necessary though. I thought it would be far worse, but it wasn't bad after all.
I'm still not sure if I will run in snow though.
I can't even imagine this! I lived in a cold place for a long time but didn't brave running in temps like that! I'll send some 70º sunny breezes over the rest of the country

From my run yesterday at sunset on the Charles river. Warmer, 28F, feels like 16F, but windy and the ground was coveted in snow, so it was a slow 10k.

I ran 1.5 miles on the treadmill yesterday and 3.9 miles outside today. I was hoping to do 5 but it was slick out and I was getting bored running back and forth on the dry part of the path I found.

cold but too many years in California have made me a cold weather wimp!
