    1/8 8 miles 53.25 <<< 8 degrees is cold for Alabama
@Stoshew71 -That is very cold for Alabama, you could have joined the more miles than degrees club.

This is true. Glad it wasn't 12 degrees then. lol
The good thing don here in Alabama, that cold doesn't stay long. You northerners, this becomes the normal until march.

You all are beasts!! I know I won't frequent this board much because I don't have the time (well...lets be honest...if the boards were in the app, I'd probably be on all the time!) Just wanted to stop in and wish you all the best on reaching your goals. My goal for January is to stick to my half marathon training plan and not get off schedule...or at least not more than a week (this is my busy month at work). Running the Kentucky Derby Festival Mini Marathon in April!

Come visit anytime. Best of luck on your mini marathon.

Forgot to post my run yestetday. 8F feels like -11F (I waited until it warmed up, it was -1F feels like -24F when I woke up). I decided to delay starting my HH advanced 5k plan until next week since I just haven't been able to plan on hitting my paces with the wind and cold ridiculousness outside.

    1/1/15 - 3.12 miles 5k
    1/2/15 - 3.20 miles _____Total: 6.32

Whew...rough start this month. Lots of life stuff getting in the way of running. And Garmin's syncing and uploading has been all goofed up. This is the first chance I've gotten to report. Dang knees are finding the lengthening mileage a little challenging.

    01/01/2015 - 5.02 Miles - Cumulative 5.02 Miles
    01/04/2015 - 6.53 Miles - Cumulative 11.55 Miles
    01/06/2015 - 6.70 Miles - Cumulative 18.25 Miles
    01/08/2015 - 4.50 Miles - Cumulative 22.75 Miles (Brrrrr...it was cold!)

    GOAL: 75 Miles

Wow. that is a cold run. I think my lips would fall off...or my nose. Just yesterday, I was patting myself on the back for running in 35 degree weather in shorts. I think I may have lived in Florida a little too long...heh.

My goal would be 200 miles but I started 7th of January so it is probably too challenging. I will be happy with around 180 miles though.
    So far
    1/07 - 12 miles
    1/08 - 10.5 miles

This from Sierra.gov: "Bears, like dogs, do not have sweat glands. Because of this, they must cool themselves through other means."

I guess that means you are normal. For a mischka.

Someone called me normal! I'll take that as a compliment any day :#

    LOL

All you guys running OUTSIDE in below freezing weather get major kudos from me. It was 20 something yesterday and I wimped out and headed to the gym, thinking I might be able to get a short run in... And I did, but it was EXTRA short. HOW DO YOU DO IT?! I'm plenty warm enough when I run, but my bare face freezes. But if I cover my neck I get too hot... Maybe I'm too high maintenance? (I'm rolling my eyes at myself). Cold weather running tips appreciated, since I don't have the discipline to make myself do any decent distance on a treadmill.

    Date.............Run.............Total..........Remaining....Pace
    01JAN15 – 03.08 miles/03.08 miles/61.92 miles/11:13

    08JAN15 – 01.50 miles/16.92 miles/47.98 miles/10:00 – treadmill… hate them, but it’s too cold to be outside. :(
09JAN15 – 07.02 miles/23.94 miles/40.96 miles/11:16 – eating greasy popcorn and heading out for a run was an insanely bad idea.

I challenged myself to run 4 miles yesterday morning at 3 degrees with -17 windchill. Prior to that the coldest I had run was around 15 or so. I dressed in the same layers I do when it's 15-25 degrees, but added a UA Storm hoodie over all that. I had no problems. The only part that really felt any discomfort was my chin and nose jutting out from the hood when I was running into the wind...but even then it was not all that bad. Some chapstick is necessary though. I thought it would be far worse, but it wasn't bad after all.

I'm still not sure if I will run in snow though.

Reading the miserably cold weather conditions so many are having to run in makes me so much more appreciative of how nice it is to run here! I will still whine though when it is too hot here :)

Quite stormy today, but after reading about the temperatures some of you guys have to deal with, I won't comlain about the weather - at least it was a cozy 45F outside. And jumping over all the branches the wind knocked down onto the path was kind of fun too :D
