1. I took a selfie for the first time ever - I NEVER would've done that 40 pounds ago
2. I used to get dressed in whatever clothes that fit, not caring if they were fashionable or even decent looking. Now I take a little more pride in how I look before going out the door
3. I get more smiles and generally positive vibes from others - from men AND women
4. I look forward to finding healthier alternatives and cool new recipes with ingredients that never came across my radar before
5. When I wake up in the morning, all I can think about is how I can't wait for the end of the day when I can go to the gym/zumba/whatever class I'm doing.

Someone told me the other day that they could see my cheek bones but the biggest thing for me was that all of my shoes are too big.4

I used to sink all the way down in our couch in the living room and would dread having to pull myself up. Then one day I sat down and hopped right up! That's the day it hit me I lost weight. I'm 5Lbs away from my goal and will lose 25Lbs more before my wedding.12

I have really high cheekbones and when I lose weight boy do they stick out! Before my face is round and chubby.8

I discovered that I could wear high heels that used to ache and I would blame the design of the shoe but when I had lost my weight I realized I was so much lighter on my feet that it was no longer painful. That was a huge "oh yeah" moment.
This ^ I love heels too! I would try wearing them before and my feet would kill after 20minutes. It was awful!! Now I can wear them for hours....such a wonderful change.

Only lost a bit so far but my cheekbones reemerging and a lady at work asking how I contoured my face. I only had eye make up and lip gloss on. And my dimples also returning in both cheeks. One went into hiding

I lost 180 pounds, and the number one shocker was my shoe size went from a 12 to a 9.5!11

My back and knees both ache less. My head doesn't swim when I stand up from a crouch. I can tie my shoes without getting out of breath. I was never a "jolly fat person," but now I'm far less short-tempered and I'm less depressed. Like other people I feel cold a lot more than I used to, my thighs don't rub, and my shoes got too big. Oh, and my goats can push me around a lot more easily than they used to! My biggest recent thrill was finding that I am now in the medium-sized cloth White Stag pants instead of in the XL knits! There's really a bigger gap there than you might think.10

Lack of thigh rub was a huge one for me. I actually like wearing dresses now. LOL!
Another is how much I'm freezing all the darn time.
And how much I love physical exercise
And how incredibly grumpy I get if I don't get my exercise in.
And for the TMI - I have endometriosis. The pain during my periods was insane, but now that I'm normal weight, the pain is gone.
Snap snap snap. If only the doctors would really strictly say "lose weight and we won't need to be seeing you", rather than skirting round the issue as they do. However I blame no one but myself for the state I got in. It's fabulous to read another endo sufferer is managing it with weight
This is refreshing to see! I have endometriosis and I never thought of my gaining weight as a contributing factor to the increased pain. Just add it to my list of motivators to lose weight!6 -

I am the same on the period front. If I am healthy and eating less sugar then my periods become so much more manageable and the pain decreases. For me sugar is key as I have PCOS and hyperglycemia and sugar messes all that up AND is inflammatory.5 -
It may be hard to believe, but I feel kind of sad that I can no longer buy from certain stores. The smallest band available for my favorite bra is too big, and I have to work really hard to find a decent T-shirt because most of woman's T-shirt's sleeves are too short for my comfort, and too short overall. I sometimes feel like I'm doomed to boxy mens T-shirts forever, which is sad because I like my curves.6

My biggest surprise will always be my gall bladder not functioning correctly due to all the weight ive lost and having to have it removed before it ruptured lol...Other then that im still adjusting to having a "tail bone"4

I have a sudden obsession with lingerie/bra & panty shopping. I never cared much before but now I find myself poring over the Victoria Secret website and constantly looking for coupon codes :-P13

I didn't realize that I would lose weight in my FEET!! After losing 100 pounds, my shoe size went down a full size!! Weird!!!!3

Discovered the joys of running (bonus - I now have slim muscular legs) and I shop for dresses now (never used to wear them).
I've lost 34lbs and am 2lbs off my goal weight.14 -
So many posts in this thread made me chuckle and nod my head because they're exactly what I experienced, too!
Here's my list. It's bound to have repeats from what's already been said, but after thoroughly enjoying this thread, I couldn't wait to add my two cents.
1. I have BONES. Whether it's the uncomfortable-knees-while-sleeping thing, the this-chair/bathtub-hurts-my-bony-butt thing, or looking in the mirror and seeing a collarbone/hip bones/ribs/jawline and saying "I HAVE one of those?!?", I'm always surprised to see and/or feel the frame that held up all that extra weight for so long.
2. The battle to shave the armpits was won with Veet. Once my armpits sunk into my body instead of just being a flat piece of skin connecting my arm to my torso, shaving them became a problem, so I switched to Veet.
3. I was surprised at how long it took me to think of myself as "currently fit/thin" rather than "formerly fat." The brain does indeed take much longer to catch up! I guess I had just gotten too used to beating myself up.
4. Am I EVER gonna warm up? Or will I be cold forever?
5. High heels, the former bane of my existence, are not that bad, actually.
6. Not only am I liking the way I look in pictures, I just downright don't recognize myself in them sometimes. And strangely enough, when I see pictures of me at my heaviest, I don't recognize them anymore, either. WHAT DO I LOOK LIKE.
7. I have more energy in everything. Earlier this week, I jumped over a laundry basket in my bedroom that I could have walked around. Not sure why I jumped over it - it just happened. That one surprised both me and my husband! Definitely wouldn't have done that before I lost 50 pounds.
I have more, but I feel like this post is getting too long. I'll add more later, after I read more of your awesomely motivating and inspirational stories.36 -

Haha, it's a real struggle! Even when I check my muscles in the mirror (yes, I'm a girl, and I check my muscles more than my hair and makeup . . . I can't possibly be the only one . . . right, ladies?), and I'm seeing more definition, I have to peer suspiciously at the face for a second or two and maybe throw my arms wildly out to the side a few times to make sure that's MY reflection and not someone fitter than my brain remembers me being.23
