Just got back from The Orthopedic Center about my pain in my butt cheek (LOL). Didn't get quite the answers I expected - I figured it was a muscle thing a little PT and I'd be good for go. Seems I have a compressed disc in my back that they believe is pressing on my sciatic nerve. I didn't see the "spine guy" I saw his assistant and she was surprised I was having no pain in my back at all. She was impressed with the muscle strength in my legs (thank you running) and said that was great. They are making me an appointment for an MRI and then they will know more. She wanted to know if I had any questions, I told her no I'd wait until they knew everything before playing "what if" with her. I told her I had a HM to train for and she smiled and said "then let's get you fixed". She also said NO RUNNING until at least the next time I see them and we know more. She said I can exercise if it's low impact and doesn't hurt. Thanks for all your support folks!
Anyone have any similar so you can tell me "been there, done that ran a marathon last week".
Oh no, so sorry. Let's hope it's quick, I know how you hate not running.

Im up to 8 of my 20 goal... which is 8 more miles than i ran last year! Reading all these posts and about fun disney and airport marathons give me something to look forward to once i get better at this running thing... little steps at a time0

Jan 21 - Rest day. Don’t want to, but going to take a day or two off, per trainer’s suggestion. Left calf is very sore. Rather rest a couple days than have to stop for weeks. Once I get to walking around it doesn't hurt, but when I've been sitting or resting and then go to move, it is painful. Probably should have taken the day off after the big bike ride.

I ran another 8 miles Saturday, the 10th. Unfortunately, I am going to come in way under my goal of 58 miles for January. My 2 year old spine injury has been flaring up & forced me to not run at all last weekend. My Doctor says he'd like me to keep running when it is pain free, but to give it a few days rest between each run. Chiropractor & massage therapy, anti-inflammatory diet & yoga all in my arsenal; I may just be able to make 58 miles in February. For now it is touch and go. Oh yeah, and I ought not go as far as 8 miles in a day for a while .0 -
3 miles today. I couldn't tell if my legs were still sore from Monday's squat workout or if they were just freezing. I probably should have dressed a bit warmer. Oh well.

Not going to get anywhere near my target this month but there's always next month.

Last two full weeks have been 29 and 27 miles. Plus 17+ for 1/1-1/4 had me around mid 74 as of Sunday, plus 2 runs this week gets me around 87 through today. Two wonderful rest days coming up, and then planning on a 14 miler on Saturday 3 weeks in advance of the Fort Lauderdale A1A. Still not sure if I am going to run the half or help a friend as a pacer but need to be ready regardless. My last 2 longer runs of 11.2 and 10.3 were both around 7:30 pace so I'm feeling pretty good. That isn't bad considering my advanced age group.
Good month going so far, but a bit of soreness in the knees and calves is demanding this rest, although I probably will go to the gym one day and cross train.

@Runningmischka - Awesome that you are running thru your pregnancy. I managed to run until about 30 weeks with mine and it makes the recovery that much easier after you have him/her.
