another way to cut back is to change the size. anything smaller than large-perhaps go with a regular

You could start by changing your double double to a single single? Then perhaps you could go down from there. I used to get a double double back in the day, but now if I go (mainly because my BF likes the tea - I am not a huge timmies fan) i'll just get 1 milk (2 depending on size).
I once thought about stopping drinking coffee. Those were dark times...0 -

As my mother used to always say, "drink it black...like my men, lol." I do like my coffee with a bit of half and half, my only indulgence. I am however, drinking more tea now...all types. I used to own a coffee shop, and was always amazed at some of my employees who did not drink coffee, now I understand. OH, and a double double is fours shots of espresso, is what I treated it as....0

Buy a coffee maker or french press and some good quality beans from the supermarket or coffee roaster. There are so many different brands that are good -- it comes down to personal preference -- a few local ones I like are Kicking Horse or Cafe Mystique, both available at my local Provigo, or Toi Moi & Cafe, La Vieille Europe, or Quatre Vents at Jean-Talon Market here in Montreal. Not sure where in Canada you're based, but try to find a local coffee shop that roasts beans on site for the best flavour. +1 for Kicking Horse. Three Sisters, Grizzly Claw, Sumatra & Kick *kitten* are all my favourites of theirs. It is local to BC though, not Quebec.

Yeah, Mystique is local but Kicking Horse is BC. I like their Kick *kitten* coffee though, so I'll buy it at the supermarket sometimes.
I just was in Mexico and I treated myself to some local coffee beans from Chiapas and took them home with me. Heavenly.0 -
Oh, and I forgot to mention 49th Parallel, also BC-based. I love their Epic Espresso.0

I gradually weaned myself from Starbucks-type mochas to coffee with a tiny splash of soy milk and a little Splenda. I pre-portion my milk for the day, and when it is gone, I am done. You can change your tastes, it just takes time and willingness.
Coffee alone is not a bad thing. I do what another poster suggested above--I grind my own beans and use a French press. Simple but good. I love Stumptown beans--infinitely better than any other coffee that I have tasted outside of stuff bought directly from Latin American coffee farms. If you are looking for cheap beans, the whole bean coffees at Target aren't bad. I like Cafe Mosaica and Madres de Nicaragua.0 -

^^ This is what I did. I used to drink double doubles, and now I can hardly stomach them unless I'm really in the mood for a treat. I only get one milk now at Timmies, and it's not bad. Also-- get the dark roast for slightly better coffee. Really it's not good coffee at all, but there's one in the building where I work so I put up with it anyway.0 -
You could make it into a ritual. This is what I did when my children were small, and still set aside "coffee time". I grind the beans, I boil the water, I do a pour over (like french press). Then, this whole ritual is even better than sugar. I still use cream in my coffee, but it's delicious coffee and I can afford the calories for two tablespoons of half and half in two cups of good coffee. I just don't drink crap coffee anymore unless I'm desperate.0

I have a large coffee with 2.5 Tbs of cream and 4 teaspoons of sugar every morning. I cannot function without it. It is actually the first thing I log every morning and the rest gets fit in around it I'm a firm believer in eating/drinking anything you want as long as it fits in your calories. I lost 30lbs in 2013 eating ice cream, pizza, etc and drinking coffee, soda.0

I will look for some of the brands listed. Believe me, I try coffees from time to time.
I am in the middle of Missouri, so have to buy online.

I personally love the coffeemate creamers. I used to love starbucks, but after a rxn (allergic) to a cup of coffee I had to give it up. I love the different flavors the creamers come in.0

Of course you CAN function without it, you are just choosing not to do so.

Double doubles are BRUTAL for calories. It's 18% creamo! Try weaning yourself down to singles, then maybe just milk. Although TH coffee is crap without the cream at least you're not addicted to the Gretzky (nine and nine).
For our American friends, double doubles are a Canadian staple from Tim Hortons coffee (double cream, double sugar). The cream is 18% milkfat and slightly sweetened. So darn yummy

I relate to this (well, not a man, but...). Not sure why, but at some point in my 20s I decided it was time to learn to drink coffee black, like an adult. (Before then I'd done about half milk, half coffee--that's the only way I got through school, heh. Lucky for me I've always found sugar in coffee weird.) So I just started putting in less and less until I found I was enjoying it black.
Experimenting with better coffees helps too. Around here there are lots of good local coffee options, and I like Peets and Intelligentsia (well, that's basically a local chain still) for chains just fine.
