I, too, am a success story of the gelato cleanse. Worked wonders.

For anyone interested, we are going to be starting a new "Spring Cleanse" in the Gelato/Ice Cream lovers group in the next few days. For 30 days, try to fit in a sweet treat of your choosing, it can be frozen (as long as not Arctic Zero or Frozen Mashed Bananas), store bought (hello Girl Scout Cookie season!), homemade, etc. Post what you are eating, especially if you have food porn pics, and your results at the end of the 30 days! It will beat any lemonade/cayenne cleanse results any day or your money back!

-disclaimer - I am not actually selling any products as part of this Spring Cleanse. It was a joke.

Wait. Is this for real? Are you serious? Because I gotta say, this is the kind of cleanse I could get behind. *L*

Oh we take our gelato cleanses very seriously...

I will create a thread so everyone can have a place to track what they eat every day, but I started with this for anyone interested.

    http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/event/990-spring-cleanse-ing-kickoff

I'm not allowed to view this event

Me neither. Apparently the Gelato Cleanse group is too good for outsiders. Join me in my marshmallow peep cleanse. It's informal; no group or fancy thread for tracking. You just shove as many yellow marshmallow peeps into your facehole as possible. Just don't eat the eyes. Never the eyes.

You can't see it as a non member because it's in the announcement area. The thread hasn't been created yet.

And we are in no way too good for anyone. Well, there's only been 1 person I told she couldn't join because she posted to much nonsense in the main forum.

I was just joshin'. I'm a member now, so clearly you all have no standards.

You were given a pass due to the high level of beard awesomeness.

And your fondness for yellow peeps...

IF so let me know. Please

    Yes.

Pooping and peeing. In fact, they are the only ones that work, and it's free.

Seriously, there is no need to detox or do a cleanse because your liver and kidneys do all the work. If they are not working properly, please see a doctor.

I posted about Roasted Peeps last week and turning them into S'mores and people thought I was crazy. They are SOOOOOO much better than regular roasted marshmallows, because the sugar carmelizes. The only bad thing is, you have to be careful or you can get some wicked molten sugar burns when you check for doneness!

IN!!! Had my first treat today (well, not my first ever LOL), and I'm already feeling AHHHMAZING! Just did the food shopping, so I'm totally stocked up on more "cleansing" treats for the next week :)

ETA: Whoops! I see the group is starting our cleanse on 3.14. I guess I had a premature "cleansification". Rest assured, I shall make up for it on Pi Day!

Can I pair this with the Cadbury creme egg cleanse?

This is a good point - people may need time to stock up in preparation for their cleanse. Plus everyone knows before you start a cleanse you should totally overeat so that your cleanse has more effect in "jump starting" your weight loss. I better get that thread going ASAP!

I found the Mexican Water Cleanse particularly effective. It is a little expensive for those of us who live in Canada, the Northern US or across the pond but well worth it for that " I gotta go, NOW!" feeling. Maybe next time I'm there I should fill a few bottles and then sell it to all the cleanse-suckers here on MFP.

Eat an entire can of pumpkin. That'll clean you out quite nicely.

She's not kidding, folks. I split a whole can of pumpkin between two bowls of oatmeal one day and my insides were sparkling clean.

I don't understand all this detox/cleanse stuff. We did it a little bit when I was a teenager (I went on a fruit cleanse myself at the time), but this whole thing of adults doing it seems so bizarre to me. With all of the resources and nutritional education at our fingertips, there are still some people behaving like dumba ss 90s kids.

So much negativity! Well I am currently a nursing student in microbiology and heavy folks do tend to have more unneeded microorganisms in their gut, so it is recommended to get the good microbiota in check and up to proper levels while lessening the bad. The basic one used before colonoscopies is good. Mixing something like miralax with gatorade and clearing yourself out for a day. You must watch your diet and up your intake of probiotics for a few weeks post. Limit (or abstain from) red meat as well.

Well, I'm currently a pharmacy technician student, and one of the very first things we learned is that cleanses (*including* the one used before colonoscopies!) are not things that should *ever* be recommended to patients. If they are about to undergo a colonoscopy, they will have specific written instructions from their physicians. Otherwise, if they're just looking for a way to "cleanse" themselves, well, you tell them to go back to their doctor and ask about it (and dollars to donuts their doctor is going to tell them that cleanses are, in fact, garbage.)

I'm no nursing student, but hopefully at some point in your education you will learn that the cleanse performed before a colonoscopy is not something that someone should do if they are, not...y'know...having a colonoscopy. My mother has a colonoscopy done every year (history of colon cancer in the family) and let me tell you -- if you have not done that particular cleanse yourself or even witnessed someone going through one, that is NOT something that you should be recommending to someone who's just looking for a "jump start" to weight loss or whatever foolishness people are usually getting on with when they're on weight loss forums asking about cleanses.

I certainly hope you're at least a new nursing student, because if you are close to graduating, you still have a hell of a lot to learn in this particular arena.

In particular it's a great way to get acute dehydration and electrolyte balance issues. And screw up your intestinal flora. Also perfect for preparing the grounds for some intestinal infections.

Please only practice it under medical supervision to put a camera up your pooper.
