Speaking from a guy's point of view -
a) I try hard not to send requests unless I think we've interacted in the community.
b) I am reluctant to add women because I'm married and I simply do not want to look weird. Most of my IRL friends are guys, and I don't want to have to explain to my wife why I'm spending so much time with online female friends.
c) There is a very high female-to-male ratio, so it almost can't be helped that guys have more gal friends than gals have guy friends.
d) I *promise* you that I'm here for *me* and my getting healthy.
With that said, I will only send a "friend" request if it seems like there is a good fit for support and motivation. And even then I am perfectly OK with someone either not responding or even deleting me as a friend. As I've said, I have plenty of friends IRL.And I agree it can just be creepy to have the feeling that you are being stalked.
But it is nice to find some people here who seem like they are genuine and committed to the community and to the common goals we have.

I pretty much accept all requests knowing I can delete or block 'em later if I want, but then I also have my profile locked and only put up cat pics as my AV so I don't get a ton anymore unless the person interacts with me on one of the threads. Lol.0 -

Okay, so I got a friend request today from some random guy I have never seen or heard of before. No message, just a request. His profile is private. I have to admit-I am totally creeped out! I KNOW this has happened to many of you and am really curious as to how others handle it.
I will usually just add people and see how well we mesh. If it is not going to work one way or another there is a remove friend option, and if it gets worse there is the block option. No worries. :flowerforyou:
You need to do what you are comfortable with though. So do what ever it is you feel is the best option. 0 -

The only creepy request I had did not have a message, but I still accepted him. But then he sent me like 2 creepy private messages so I just deleted him. He didn't seem like he was really here for weight loss anyway.0
