Rounded out the month with an easy 4 miler! Except...it wasn't so easy! But I made it anyway. I might rethink my middle distance run this weekend with the two halfs coming up so soon. Maybe knock it down to a 4 miler perhaps. I'll use my resting heart rate as my guide...which I should have done this morning!

    4/1 - 6 miles
    4/4 - 6.1 miles
    4/6 - 2.3 miles
    4/11 - 13.1 miles 2:42:09.4
    4/14 - 2.26 miles
    4/18 - 13.1 miles 2:38:09
    4/21 - 4.04 miles
    4/23 - 4.04 miles
    4/25 - 10.32 miles
    4/28 - 4.09 miles
    4/30 - 3.96 miles

5.65 miles for me on this last day of the April Challenge. Brings my total to 89.68. Not the 100 I was shooting for, but I am
so excited about the progress I made. I've been debating if I want to lower the total for next month and had pretty well
decided to, but just now decided nope...gonna shoot for the 100 again.

@JoRocka have you noticed the recent NJ related conversations? I was hoping you spotted and would respond. :-) Scroll back starting with page 36 of this thread and keep reading the conversations between me, @kristinegift and @skippygirlsmom cause it goes on for another couple more pages in this thread. :-)

@Stoshew71 I had not- I'll skim backwards. I really did- I totally ducked my head and shame and didn't even come encourage- it goes by so fast around here and since I wasn't running I just hung my head in shame and didn't read. I'll go back and do so now. ;)

@kristinegift since you are in Princeton technically you don't have an exit. In case you don't know the big joke (at least for people who live outside of Jersey) is that everyone lives off an exit off the garden state parkway, so when you say you are from Jersey people say "what exit?"

technically it's the turnpike if you want to get semanitical about it. but yes- that's the stock answer- what exit... although someone was right- princeton isn't really "off" an exit. you just take somewhere between 7-8A depending on which way you're going N/S.

@skippygirlsmom Shall we get into an argument on whether or not it's called a hoagie or a sub? ;-)

Sorry @kristinegift for the 13th statement in the link above.

And for those that get offended easily, please do not click here. It's one person's guide to ethnicity groups easily catogorized on the map of New Jersey:

It's a hoagie (but I grew up with subs- so I flip flop for sure)

The pork roll was something new to me- and even after being here for many moons I didn't know what it was really till I moved to the 'sad black people and corruption" section of the map. It's honestly not really a NJ thing- it's a Trenton thing. B/c it's called a Trenton Pork Roll and nothing else. LOL

it's a special place here for sure.

75 miles again for me, but this time I'm only counting the miles I run. Walking miles are just a bonus.

    exercise.png
    4/1 - 3 miles - total: 3 miles
    4/3 - 4 miles - total: 7 miles
    4/6 - 7.5 miles - total 14.5 miles
    4/7 - 7 miles - total 21.5 miles
    4/8 - 6.2 miles - total 27.7 miles
    4/9 - 4.75 miles - total 32.45
    4/11 - 7.5 miles - total 39.95

Amendment: If I walk a total of less than 5 minutes out of 90, I'm not going to try to take the walk breaks back out of my mileage total.

    4/12 - 4.5 miles - total 44.45

Another amendment: I can't differentiate running time and walking time when I run outdoors, so I'm counting the whole thing. I think I prefer the treadmill, overall.

    4/13 - 7 miles - total 51.45
    4/14 - 2 miles - total 53.45
    4/15 - 2 miles - total 55.45
    4/16 - 2 miles - total 57.45
    4/19 - 2.5 miles - total 59.95
    4/21 - 7 miles - total 66.95
    4/23 - 4 miles - total 70.95
    4/25 - 6.7 miles - total 77.65
    4/26 - 8 miles - total 85.65
    4/28 - 4.58 miles - total 90.23
    4/30 - 5.03 miles - total 95.26

Yeah, I grew up with the "Russians, Polacks, and Toxic Fumes", then moved to "Bankers and Businessmen" then to "Springstein Country" before moving to the actual Alabama, not "Pretty Much Alabama". LOL
Oh, I also spent 6 years in W. Lafayette, IN (for college) after HS then moving back into the Toxic Fumes and communiting to "Bankers and Businessmen" for work. Then visiting my girl friend (now wife) on a regular basis who lived in "Christie Country" at the time.

    Done with my planned mileage.

Did my final 4 miles in the sunny heat & humidity yesterday (82/72%) so I'd feel better about the short mileage. Rest day today, although ended up hitting a buffet before/during game 7 of the bolts/wings game last night, so may do a bit of swimming & biking today to repent (just not quite as much as @SBRRepeat - nor likely to catch any llama sightings).

    4/1 - 8 miles
    4/2 - 5 miles
    4/4 - 8 miles
    4/5 - 20 miles
    4/7 - 5 miles
    4/8 - 8 miles
    4/9 - 5 miles
    4/12 - 20 miles
    4/14 - 5 miles
    4/15 - 8 miles
    4/16 - 6 miles
    4/18 - 4 miles
    4/19 - 12 miles
    4/21 - 4 miles
    4/22 - 5 miles
    4/23 - 4 miles
    4/25 - 3 miles
    4/26 - 8 miles
    4/28 - 3 miles
    4/29 - 4 miles

    Total: 145 miles
    Goal: 145 miles
    DONE!

Ran four miles along the beach this morning. I've been having ankle troubles all month that have been causing these miserable unscheduled rest days, but it felt okay today. This is probably my last run for the week until Sunday's HM, which puts me way short of my wimpy revised goal for the month. Oh well.
As @skippygirlsmom says, we'll get em next month.

@ohhim I've done open water swims along the beach this week and they're causing quite the stir. According to my friend, people were videotaping my workout. I guess it's weird to swim in the ocean?
At least I wasn't doing planks like the goober set up next to me today.

There's a triathlon down here on Saturday morning and it's making me crazy that I can't do it. But it would definitely sabotage Sunday's "real" race effort.

@SBRRepeat I have neighbors that open water swim a few times/week. Still, I'll only do one if my tri plan requires it as (even with <1 foot surf) they usually make me nauseous. Today's surf is looking pretty ugly (even on the gulf) as well although the water temperatures are back above 80 degrees. I ended up skipping a huge local olympic triathlon (St. Anthony's) last weekend that I've wanted to race for a while as my marathon is coming up on Sunday.

Switching to olympic tri/half training once I wrap up my marathon, as 85 degree/80% humidity runs of over 5 miles aren't my idea of fun.
