dill pickle rice crisps do it for me 12 chips - 80 calories so I usually have 24 and it is enough. And I was a bag a day chip eater.

Sex can help keep you from snacking after 7. Turn off the TV and have some sex.

True that! and your burning calories, win win

I make "cocktails" late at night.
    1) Water with lemon, lemon stevia drops, frozen blueberries = blueberry lemonade.
    2) Pellegrino with mint, lime, and lemon stevia drops = mojito.
    3) Lipton decaf cold brew tea, lemon, and lemon stevia drops = Arnold Palmer.
    4) Celestial Seasonings decaf green tea with mint cold brewed with cucumbers, mint, and lemon Stevia drops = really good but I don't have a name for it.

Snacking has been a big problem for me, mostly because I love snacking on junk food at night. What I have done to make this so it is not so problematic is eat my dinner a little later, save some calories for a snack, and often I drink hot tea or a hot chocolate. Since you sip on it, it makes me feel as though I am consuming for 15-30 minutes and is better than consuming chips for 15-30 minutes. I also keep veggies around-carrots with nonfat greek yogurt with a bit of ranch seasoning or something in it. While it is not the same as junk food, it does fill me up! For a more guilty snack, I eat the snap pea crisps or air popped popcorn. I feel as though I can eat a lot of those within my calorie allotment for snacks.

I talked with my doctor recently about this because I just don't like eating breakfast. My day starts around 8 a.m. so for me, eating a decent 400 calorie lunch around 1:00 p.m. is perfect. I save 200 calories for a midday snack (3-4 p.m.) and then have dinner around 7-8 p.m. I make sure to save 200 calories for an evening snack around 10 p.m. (I work until midnight usually) and that keeps me out of trouble.

My doctor said she'd like for me to try eating some kind of protein in the morning, even if it's just a handful of nuts or some yogurt, but if I don't she said it's not a problem. She says it's what you eat, not when. Works for me!

Can anyone recommend a suggestion on this? After 7pm I get so hungry and all I want is cereal or a sandwich or chips... Basically nothing healthy. I'm not to keen on fruits so late either. Help any late night snack recommendations?

I don't eat dinner until 7 PM. I usually have a snack between 8 and midnight. I like popcorn at night.
A sandwich, cereal, or chips are not bad or unhealthy for you to incorporate in your diet. If you have the calories for something and have eaten foods that meet your nutritional needs for the day then you could easily eat anything.
Popcorn, carrots, celery, trail mix, fruit, yogurt, cheese, peanut butter on crackers, chips and salsa, hard boiled eggs, a salad, hummus, oatmeal, olives, pickles, chocolate, granola bar, beef jerky, pizza, smoothie, cookies, meat, cooked vegetables.

Ahhhh I have the same problem. But I know it's NOT about hunger for me, it's because I use food to relax and unwind. As soon as my kids are in bed I want to watch some TV and EAT. It's a horrible habit, eating in front of the TV, mindless eating. I always save 100 -150 calories for a snack or dessert during that time of night. Sometimes its popcorn and sometimes its frozen yogurt.

I have plain nonfat Greek yogurt with a tablespoon of bran and a teaspoon of stevia. The oat bran has the added bonus feature of making me regular.

You can eat after 7 pm. You can eat after 10 pm if you want. It doesn't matter that much. Have something light like a rice cake with PB or cream cheese or maybe some cottage cheese with banana if you can't eat it plain. Add some cinnamon and enjoy. :)
  • I like one cup of cold cereal. No milk, eat it like chips.

Thanks everyone! The sex comment had me laughing! I guess it's just that I seem to gain any kind of weight eating late at night since it doesn't digest fast enough before going to bed. Best snack I found was Trader Joes seaweed. They taste like sushi and who ever knows me..knows i love seaweed. It's low in calories and that so good!

Make your own ice cream earlier in the day!
I use one frozen banana, 1/4 cup of chopped strawberries (any fruit would work) and 2tbsp of unsweetened coconut milk (any milk would work here too!)
Blend it all up in a blender or food processor and either eat it right away or freeze it to snack on later in the evening!
    Only 128 calories!

I go with sugarless gum and water before I reach for food. If that doesn't work backup keep celery and baby carrots at the ready at all times.

Intermittent fasting has fixed this struggle for me. I eat my last meal by 10 pm and don't eat until 12:30 or 1 next day. Coffee or tea fine in morning

When I was in a deficit I had a good 300 calories saved for after dinner on most nights. No way I'm done eating with dinner.

I highly recommend a juice detox to help curve junk food cravings. I do a lot of cardio and strength training so I don't do all day or week long juice cleanses. I eat a big healthy breakfast packed with protein and then juice the rest of the day. Around 3-4pm I eat some pretzels and call it a day. The detox helps rid your body of toxins and fat so I don't crave salty and sweets like I used too.

I usually eat dinner at 9pm or even 10. What I do to is quite filling. I buy wraps and fill them with a bunch of salads, mostly greens leaf, spring onions, mushrooms, bell peppers, tomatoes things like that.... That way you eat something nutritious, delicious and there's less fuzz about what to prepare. Sometimes being hungry at night is actually being hungry(not just cravings), try to experiment with a later dinner... maybe your body needs a little extra at night....

Your body doesn't need a detox for that.

I love this idea! What consistency is it when frozen? Like an icecream or more solid?

I was diagnosed with a bad form of acid reflux. The Dr told me do not go to bed or lay down at least 2 to 3 hours after you eat. So I don't eat past 7pm. I do make sure my dinner is fulling. I save my calories for then.

As long as your in your calories you should be fine.

I struggle with hunger at night, too. I use what was mentioned above... I eat dinner about 7PM. Now I'm trying to get to sleep earlier... I currently suffer from severe insomnia but I'm working on it and have found my hunger is subsiding slightly with more sleep.

Great ideas. Several go-to things I keep on hand when I'm having a manic snack attack is V8, baby carrots, a cup of lo cal/lo sodium soup, WASA multi grain crispbread, salad of greens with a splash of diet dressing.

Eat a protein bar they are very filling and stay with you through the night.
There are chocolate ones which will also curb your cravings for junk food.
Protein bars are my new comfort food

I had this problem until I discovered protein shakes I make into a big yummy smoothie. 25 grams of protein should help you out.

I don't eat anything after dinner and that's always around 5:30-6 at the latest! Drink water! It will help u feel fuller. U shouldn't eat anything at least 4 hours before you go to bed.
