    5/16: REST
    5/17: 20 miles
    5/18: 3 miles

My legs felt way too fresh today for having run 20 yesterday! That tells me my fatigue yesterday was way more mental than truly physical... gotta figure out a way to block the mental fatigue before race day rolls around!

I'd really like some of that post race (sometimes mid-race) food that @SonicDeathMonkey80 posts pictures of.... or take a rest day with this Dr. Jack Daniels that @Stoshew71 quotes.... however, with my lack of running miles it looks more like I need to fall back in @LoneWolfRunner 's pack :o

Ran to the gym so I could swim tonight, got there and the pool was closed for maintenance. Lifted for a bit and ran home.
2.5 miles is all for me today. Yesterday's trail run was rough on the hamstrings.

    25 miles total.

Ran with my hydration belt. Wasn't bad. Was incredibility hot and humid. Sure I'm sun burnt. Ran at lunch and after work. I anticipate being short this week with rain and appointments.

    7. 48 total today..most in one day.

Ended up postponing my Sunday long run to avoid doing it in Florida's mid-80s heat & high humidity, but ended up doing it today in Pittsburgh's low 80s heat & humidity + thunderstorms... so much for that strategy.

Falling way behind on my cycling challenge mileage, so may cut back on a few runs in the next 2 weeks to get in more time on the saddle.

    5/2 - 2 miles
    5/3 - 26.2 miles (3:44 total time, 8:33 pace)
    5/7 - 6 miles
    5/9 - 4 miles
    5/10 - 12 miles
    5/12 - 4 miles
    5/13 - 5 miles
    5/14 - 4 miles
    5/15 - 3 miles
    5/16 - 5 miles
    5/18 - 12 miles

    Total: 83 miles
    Goal: 100 miles
    Remaining: 17 miles

    ^^^^ @CodeMonkey78 - Congratulations! That is awesome!
@italysharon - the Santorini picture is beautiful. I suspect it was a challenging run to get there but definitely worth it!
@SonicDeathMonkey80 - Awesome job with the pacing in terrible conditions! Those 2 runners will never forget what you did for them and hopefully will pay it forward at another race!!
@LoneWolfRunner - I feel exactly the same on my rest days and hate it when I check in here and see all of the running going on - I can't however roll over and go back to sleep. I know I need the rest days but sometimes it is just so hard not to run! Who knew I would EVER feel that way!
@_nikkiwolf_ - Great job putting those endorphins to use  You definitely get to enjoy the couch tomorrow, maybe have some bonbons while you are lazily sitting there reading the challenge updates :)
@Elise4270 - I don't go out without sunscreen, ever... I hate getting sunburned and being a redhead I fry easily! I don't envy all of you in the heat and humidity already! I would be running at 4 am to avoid it!

Cool and overcast here this morning with even a bit of drizzle! Perfect running weather. Training plan called for a timed 50 minute run not including warm up and cool down. Tomorrow is a Race Pace run. Hope this weather holds!

I learned during my run in Sunday's heat that if you turn down the wrong road, suddenly a short soft run gets long and hard...

    04/5 - Recovery
    05/5 - 10.6 miles Trail
    06/5 - 12.1 Miles Trail (split into 2 runs)
    07/5 - 10.3 Road
    08/5 - Recovery
    09/5 - 17.3 Trail
10/5 - Swapped a recovery day due to twinge in calf
11/5 - 10.8 miles -2 runs one trail and one on the road
    12/5 - 8.2 miles Trail Hill repeat
    13/5 - 11.8 miles Trail
14/5 - 13 miles Road with the Hound of Love
    15/5 - Recovery Day
    16/5 - 11 Miles Trail
    17/5 - Recovery (swapped day)
    18/5 - 21.6 miles Trail

My back was still giving me issues on Sunday so I swapped a recovery day to hopefully help. So Monday it was no better (so much for an extra recovery day) so I went for a run anyway. The pain settled down after a few hundred metres. Surprisingly after my run my back was so much better so obviously you cure a bad back by running it into submission. It was a beautiful day lots of sun trails were a mixture of mud and dry fire road. I kept out of the hills thinking technical descents would irritate my back.

    Lovely day and lovely run

@shanaber yesterdays push in the heat gave me a lovely migraine. I'm not sure where I'd run at 4am, even if I could get up that early, oh I do have a TM... Ok, maybe even round our small addition...I will have to change something. Migranes leave me just brain dead. I can't even remember words or names. Ugh, *whining* being a runner is hard.....

@lonewolfrunner - great street sign LOL

@sonicdeathmonkey80 didn't think about the weather. We were talking to some folks after a race the other day and they asked if I planned to run a marathon. I laughed and said the thought of running for 5+ hours is something my brain can't even think about...so no.

Wow, so many posts since I last ran Saturday!

@skippygirlsmom - Congrats, especially to Skip on the win and the great medal!
@LoneWolfRunner - Nice 30k swag. Congrats on actually sleeping in for once. :-) Not sure what to say about that street sign other than to say that on my phone it looked really huge, I had to scroll all the way up that pole just to see what it was! :-D
@Remus42 - Congrats on the PR!
@shanaber - Glad the hip is feeling better.
@italysharon - That is an amazing view! Hope you are having a great time.
@SonicDeathMonkey - Major kudos for helping to push those people along under tough conditions. I had someone help me this last weekend when I truly bonked that last mile. I hope to pay it forward some day, and those people you helped feel similar, I'm sure. Also, hats off to your son for sprinting that pacer stick to the finish!
@CodeMonkey78 - Congrats on that 5k, way to go!
@_nikkiwolf_ - Enjoy your well earned rest day. :-)
@isulo_kura - Funny how some pains just go away when you run on them. Not always the case, but nice when it works that way.
@elise4270 - Hope your migraine clears soon.

I'm sure I missed some racers from last weekend, so...CONGRATS! Also, welcome to any new runners I may have missed. :)

Today was my first steps towards training for fall. After looking at a number of things and even talking it over with a couple very experienced pacers/runners during this weekends half, I'm going to build miles in something of an ultra runner way with two long runs on the weekend. I'm not jumping into any sort of ultra plan, mind you, and my weekly mileage is starting right off where it has been. I'm basically just changing my schedule to 3 shorter runs T-Th and then two longer runs Sa-Su, starting at current weekly mileage and slowly building up mileage. This means my long runs start at relatively short distances to most of my current long runs (8 and 6 to start). The next few weeks are all easy to help recover from Spring and also to keep a base up. The primary goals are losing weight by running many slow miles while also building up a bigger base and increasing speed.

If I build enough distance by the fall then I hope to either be able to do 2 HM's in a weekend, or maybe even a full marathon if I get up to at least two 20+ mile long runs over separate weekends. Neither of these would be raced but simply plan to finish. Target weekend for the half's (or even a full by upgrading one from half to full) is November 14-15. While this seems a bit lofty seeing it on paper right now, if I think back to January when I was making my Spring training plan I thought that looked pretty crazy too, and I achieved even my stretch goals for Spring.

    5/2 - 6.07 miles
    5/4 - 3 miles
    5/5 - 3.01 miles
    5/6 - 3.02 miles
    5/9 - 13.1 miles 2:37:20.4 new PR
    5/11 - 3.04 miles
    5/16 - 13.1 miles 2:53:02

I love the fact that Sonic's painfully slow run would be me kicking *kitten*.... lol... my pace substantially increases my time on feet... so anytime I want to do a run of 26 miles or beyond, I have no choice but to prep for a minimum of five hours on my feet... and that is without taco stops... just once I wish I could run like him.

Overslept (ahem, again) so I just barely snuck in 3 miles before work this morning. Tossed in some strides for funsies. Hopefully I can force myself to do a short brick run after tonight's bike ride.

    28 miles. *eyeroll*
