I totally missed this - awesome!!!
@lonewolfrunner - great street sign LOL
@sonicdeathmonkey80 didn't think about the weather. We were talking to some folks after a race the other day and they asked if I planned to run a marathon. I laughed and said the thought of running for 5+ hours is something my brain can't even think about...so no.0 -

Wow, so many posts since I last ran Saturday!
@skippygirlsmom - Congrats, especially to Skip on the win and the great medal!
@LoneWolfRunner - Nice 30k swag. Congrats on actually sleeping in for once. :-) Not sure what to say about that street sign other than to say that on my phone it looked really huge, I had to scroll all the way up that pole just to see what it was! :-D
@Remus42 - Congrats on the PR!
@shanaber - Glad the hip is feeling better.
@italysharon - That is an amazing view! Hope you are having a great time.
@SonicDeathMonkey - Major kudos for helping to push those people along under tough conditions. I had someone help me this last weekend when I truly bonked that last mile. I hope to pay it forward some day, and those people you helped feel similar, I'm sure. Also, hats off to your son for sprinting that pacer stick to the finish!
@CodeMonkey78 - Congrats on that 5k, way to go!
@_nikkiwolf_ - Enjoy your well earned rest day. :-)
@isulo_kura - Funny how some pains just go away when you run on them. Not always the case, but nice when it works that way.
@elise4270 - Hope your migraine clears soon.
I'm sure I missed some racers from last weekend, so...CONGRATS! Also, welcome to any new runners I may have missed.
Today was my first steps towards training for fall. After looking at a number of things and even talking it over with a couple very experienced pacers/runners during this weekends half, I'm going to build miles in something of an ultra runner way with two long runs on the weekend. I'm not jumping into any sort of ultra plan, mind you, and my weekly mileage is starting right off where it has been. I'm basically just changing my schedule to 3 shorter runs T-Th and then two longer runs Sa-Su, starting at current weekly mileage and slowly building up mileage. This means my long runs start at relatively short distances to most of my current long runs (8 and 6 to start). The next few weeks are all easy to help recover from Spring and also to keep a base up. The primary goals are losing weight by running many slow miles while also building up a bigger base and increasing speed.
If I build enough distance by the fall then I hope to either be able to do 2 HM's in a weekend, or maybe even a full marathon if I get up to at least two 20+ mile long runs over separate weekends. Neither of these would be raced but simply plan to finish. Target weekend for the half's (or even a full by upgrading one from half to full) is November 14-15. While this seems a bit lofty seeing it on paper right now, if I think back to January when I was making my Spring training plan I thought that looked pretty crazy too, and I achieved even my stretch goals for Spring.

I love the fact that Sonic's painfully slow run would be me kicking *kitten*.... lol... my pace substantially increases my time on feet... so anytime I want to do a run of 26 miles or beyond, I have no choice but to prep for a minimum of five hours on my feet... and that is without taco stops... just once I wish I could run like him.0

@briebee7 -thanks! We lived in Naples. Not the most beautiful city in Italy, but we loved it & the rest of Italy.
@skippygirlsmom - What a bummer! Hopefully you will get another opportunity. I'm not sure if I was ever in Livorno, but I have heard good things. I did go to the Cinque Terre, which is close, and it was incredibly beautiful. You will have some great runs in Tuscany! …then you can drink wine guilt-free!
@_nikkiwolf_ @shanber - It was hilly, but completely worth it! We stuck to hiking the rest of the week though.
@isulo_kura - beautiful!
@WhatMeRunning -thanks! I am home now… still waiting for it to get warm here!0 -

Afternoon with my family doc today. (I'm somewhat enamored with this fellow.) As a side complaint, I mentioned how my foot bothered me. He's so much like me, dry, to the point, bluntly states "that's a Mortons neuroma, you need surgery".
Hmmm, I may just live with it. Any one with experience?0 -
