@Stoshew71 - thanks for the videos! Interesting one about the Kenyans and will catch up on the music/pace ones later this weekend!
@7lenny7 - thanks for all the links! Will definitely check out my music to get the pace!
Busy day but got a quick 4 miles in before heading out to the agility trial. Ended up sitting in holiday traffic for almost an hour (for a 20-30 minute trip). Got there just in time to check in. Hobbes did not run well probably due to my stress but there is always tomorrow!
Hope to get in a decent longish run in the morning before heading out again and hopefully there won't be traffic like today!

How can you not love a race that has a $5,000 bounty for anyone who breaks the 10K course record? This is the race that @stoshew71 @codemonkey78 and I will be running on Monday. It has a killer "speed bump" and here is the comment from one of the top region female runners "It's just the one hill," Mudy-Mader said of the Cotton Row's infamous uphill climb that begins at mile 2 and tops out at the three-mile mark on Mountainwood Dr. "Before that hill, it's nice. I've run it a couple of times for practice. As soon as you get to a hill, it's super steep. After that your quads and legs are so dead. It kind of helps that it's downhill later on, but you feel like you have the hill in your legs."
Oh I can't wait LOL

@skippygirlsmom wow! Hill? Or mountain running! Way to build endurance!
Question for the community- do you ache when you rest a few days? I haven't run since Monday and I'm so achy. It just gets worse until I swim, walk or run.0 -
Just finished my first Tri of the season, pretty happy with how it went, except for a few mistakes here and there. Won my age group and finished 9th overall female of 59 in the sprint!
As per usual, my run was my biggest limiter, but I was putting up mile splits about 1-2 minutes faster than all of last year's races, so, progress!
My bike split was awesome, felt really strong- 23rd overall of the full field of 140ish people.
Swim was painful. I panicked when I hit the water, no idea why, and it took a couple hundred yards to get my breathing under control. Still finished in the top half of the field, but I was a full 2 minutes slower than where I self-seeded (sorry to anyone who got stuck behind me!). Most importantly, I felt awesome after the race, so it's good to know I could have pushed myself even harder.
Overall, good start to the real race season
At the finish line with my dad:

Short on time so will catch up on posts tonight.
Was having lunch with my dad today and decided to run out to his place instead of driving. Temps were nice and the scenery was nice as I got further out of town. Lunch was great too. Might do this regularly, and maybe run back next time as well!

@SBRRepeat Sounds like a really nice start to the race season, well done!
@skippygirlsmom Wow, the "speed bump" is a full mile long? That would make for some nice hill repeats training, I bet
I bought new running socks and wore them the first time last night. I guess they don't fit as well as a thought when I first tried them on - they started chafing after half an hour, and now I have blisters on the soles of my big toes. Now I can't decide if I should give those socks a second chance on another run or not...

Shifting my Friday and Sunday runs to Sat and Mon so I can do the RW Run Streak (Memorial Day through July 4) on fresh legs. Being required to do 1 mile the day after my marathon will probaly help me from getting so stiff; I laid in bed all day the day after my first one, and that was a huge mistake!

Pretty big regional 5K I'm running tomorrow - Lou Cox Memorial. If you're not sub-16, you won't see the top 100. The plan is to stick at slightly faster than tempo pace and use it as a training run, but it would be in the neighborhood of my PR. I haven't done any speedwork, so I'm not going to bother trying to ace it. That's July 18th
